First Place in Most Active Module in the Schoolof Engineering (SoE)
Delivering lectures is always challenging, especially when it comes todry engineering subjects, such as engineering mathematics, engineeringfluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and heat transfer. Such subjectsrequire special and unclassical innovative methods of teaching andlearning. One of these methods is blended learning, which has beenadopted in Taylor’s University five years ago. Blended learning maycombine and align learning undertaken in face-to-face sessions withlearning opportunities created online. For this method to succeed, tools are needed to enhance students’ learning and lecturers’ teaching.TIMES is one of these tools. One of our lecturers in the SoE,Dr. Abdulkareem Sh. Mahdi Al-Obaidi, successfully implemented blendedlearning using TIMES in his course, Engineering Mathematics 1. UtilizingTIMES, he managed the online quizzes, video recordings, andattendance quizzes to significantly enhance the learning experienceof first year first semester students. As a result of his effort, he wasawarded the first place in the category of Most Active Module at theschool level for two successive years (2015 and 2016).
