2 – Kinder Skill Review – Set High Expectations! Pass out spring writing samples from all kids’ assessment folders. Kids read their kinder pieces and then talk with a partner before helping the teacher create a list (anchor chart) of things we do to make our work readable for others. (spacing, neat formation, lower case letters, letters the correct size, etc.) Teacher copies 4-5 kinder spring pieces to place on the Wall of Fame to motivate other writers & show what ‘good’ looks like. Practice traffic path with materials if time. 3 – Introduce ‘Writing Skills Checklist’ – Modeled Writing Practice traffic path with materials set-up. Teacher then goes over Writing Skills Checklist with kids. (Resource: J: drive – 1

Traits folder; ‘Skills Writer’s Checklist’) Show a kinder example from yesterday that meets all the checklist criteria.
