1. GARJANA"Nagpur Brahmins" or "FBIL ( Facebook Brahmins
International Ltd. ), some may take as a verynarrow minded thought
but at the same time it is equally important to think out of the
box becausesuch unification is need of the day and need of an hour.
With this realization NB & FBIL came intobeing on 4th April
2011 that is on Varshapratipada / Gudipadwa.Though Facebook is used
as a main medium to bring together people of our community, till
datemany weekly as well as monthly meets have been held (at
Nagpur), Picnic and events have beenarranged. As a result, members
are now contributing hand in hand, with great zeal.It is true, "Pen
is mightier than the Sword" so lets make E-magazine a tool to
embark with ouractivities. But for this purpose to fulfill, every
member needs to participate voluntarily and give hisshare in the
best possible way.Talking specifically about E-magazine, the team
is working for making every edition interesting inthe best feasible
way and in a year or two, we will be starting with its hard copy
too but again forthis, members response matter!Well, we Brahmins
are supposed to have high intellect & knowledge of the
"Brahmanda", may bethis is the only reason why knowingly or
unknowingly we are parted today or are on the verge of it.If we
have a closer look, dealing with outsiders (critics) is not
something we need to do initiallybecause we already have people
best at autodeconstruction .But its high time now, we need toget
rid of the persisting evil thoughts. As stated earlier, lets think
differently and act practically.Lets know in detail what exactly
our culture says. With No Discrimination as our theme and Humanism
as our religion, lets make "Unite and Rule"our motive."Together we
stand, divided we fall"...So, again to enjoy the long last
confluence of Brahmins andfeel the real power of Brahmnatva, lets
come together and make a difference.Jai Hind!DISCLAIMER : Content

7. FriendI had a sweet dream last nightMy friends and I were
traveling in a flight,It was a scene of our picnic tour,We were
visiting the palace of MysoreI woke and saw no one aroundLike a
lonely bird fallen on barren groundI want to cry, but there aint
anyone to wipe my tears,I want to die, but there aint anyone who
really caresI want to show my scars, but there aint anyone with
caring eyes,I want to see the stars, but they also left making way
for sunriseI am not a freak; I was flying like any other birds,I
want to speak, but there aint anyone listening my words,A fear
rushed in my mind that morningIs it the beginning of an end or end
of the beginning? This is not what I had planned,Sitting alone on No
Mans LandSo I thought of writing a suicide noteThere was no point
sailing in a sinking boatAs I begun to write about my glorious
pastThe clock started to move fastI stopped as I felt absence of
lightIn the moment came the starry night,It felt so good looking at
the silver moon,And thought of dying went so soon,I looked at the
piece of paper that I wrote,I found that I am not alone like I
thought,I realized I can make this paper as my friendWho will stand
with me till the EndOne who can listen what I want to say,One who
will be with me all night and day,Now I have someone who never
jealous of me,I found my best friend, it was within me..- Prasad

9. A walk I will remember It was a rainy evening. Usually calm
blue sky today was covered with dark, black meanclouds ornamented
with occasional thunders. I was staring out of window lost in my
thoughts. Why cant I get anything right? Will I ever be happy? Why
am I so lonely on the road to my brokendreams?? Is it raining or
those are just my tears I see? Even the nature is angry and
depressedlike me. Suddenly he came behind me, closed my eyes and
said, why do u think u are lonely? Iam always there for you.
Perhaps it was his presence that dried my tears and I said, No, I
am allalone, I am useless. you see those clouds covering the sky;
even my mind is clouded with darkthoughts. Nature and I both are
depressed today. But unlike nature I cant express myself. I
wasstill thinking when he said, Come, Lets take a walk. A walk!!!!
At this time???? No, I wont. Irefused. Why not?? Are you scared? he
said smiling, I promise it will be a walk you willremember. Lets
go. We started walking in silence. I was angry and a bit scared and
suddenly lighteningthundered, increasing my fear. As if reading my
mind, he said, Never get scared of nature, honey. Its the most
beautiful thing in the world if you just observe. I see nothing
beautiful about thisstorm. Its just mud and water everywhere. Look
at that tree over there. It is lonely just like me. Isaid angrily.
Your eyes see what your mind thinks. He said, When I look at the
tree I see awarrior facing storm bravely still holding his head
high in the sky. And it is not all alone. Because ithas his roots,
branches, leaves with it and all those make it what it is. You can
never be lonelybecause you have yourself. You are right. His silent
smile said everything. Rain had increased and it was darker but we
kept walking. He was with me and I feltbetter. But I was unhappy
and sad. Hey look there. His voice broke into my thoughts. A small
boywas playing with his dog in mud and water unaware of
surrounding. The dog shook his body andwater drops spread
everywhere delighting the child. The boy hugged the dog and they
startedplaying again. I was watching them with envy when he
whispered in my ear, See they are soblissfully happy. Enjoying
themselves without worry. If you learn to enjoy those small moments
andlose yourself in joy you wont have to worry about anything. Dont
forget those small momentswhile running behind the bigger ones. We
went ahead and I saw an old leaf fallen on the ground covered with
mud. He picked itup and said, You might see just an old leaf fallen
on the ground but I see here the satisfaction ofcompleting the
work, of living a good life. When the time came it fell down to
give place for a newlife to develop leaving its mark there. Dont
you think same thing happens in our life? We get olderand get
replaced by new. We just have to make sure; we leave our mark in
that work. Nature isalways trying to teach us something. Its up to
you to see and learn. The sky was clearing and so was my mind. Rain
had decreased and we started goingback when he showed me a rose
plant. The roses were destroyed and petals scatteredeverywhere. A
small bud was blooming trying to open its petals. The rain drop
fell on it and it wasthe most beautiful thing I had seen. This time
he asked me, what do you see? I searched for ananswer and I found
it. I see one life destroyed in storm and still there is a new hope
opening itseyes starting a new life. The raindrop fallen on the
leaf is as beautiful as the one falling in shellturning to pearl.
We dont always get best of the circumstances. Its up to us to make
it the best. We had reached home. He smiled, ruffled my hair and
turned to leave. Please dont go. I pleaded. I will always be
present around you, honey. I am wind. You may not feel me but I
willalways be there. Whenever you feel sad just close your eyes and
I will be there. Wind was movingaway from me. The rain had stopped
and sky was clear. Suddenly a flower flowing with wind fell inmy
lap, promising his presence. He had kept his promise. It was a walk
I will alwaysremember

11. Ideal GaneshotsavGanpati Bappa Morya !!!Every year, the
month of August witnesses a lot of activity andexcitement in every
nook and corner of the city. All this activityand excitement is the
indicator to the much awaitedfestival Ganeshotsav! This festival
marks the presence of our favorite Ganpati Bappa inour homes and
hearts.Mass celebration of Ganeshotsav was started by Lokmanya
Tilakin the year 1894. The motive behind this was to
increasecommunication between people, share thoughts of Swaraj
andthus fuel the freedom struggle with the common manscontribution.
But, over the period of times, this mass celebrationhas changed
agendas. Every year, the city witnesses thousandsof Ganeshotsav
celebrations from various areas. The trends ofthese celebrations
tend to change every year.To make any Ganeshotsav ideal and
productive of colony level, some of the following pointsprove to be
useful:1. Ganesh Murti: The idol of the lord is the most important
factor while conducting this festival.Recently, idols in various
shapes colors and sizes have come in the market. One must realize
thatevery god has a stereotypical look and feel that should not be
tampered with. One may seeganesh idols with unacceptable props and
clothes. This is one front where we cannot and shouldnot
experiment. The murti should look serene and calm. Everyone comes to
god with a host of wishes andgrievances. A calm looking sweet idol
is always comforting and it amplifies the sacredness of theplace.2.
Vargani: The donation that comes to the organization conducting the
festival must be handledcarefully. Money matters should be clean
and transparent. Valid bills and receipts must be anintegral part
of the calculation of expenses. One must not forget that this money
belongs to thesociety and hence one is answerable to people. All
this money must be put to good use. Any foulplay in money matters
will have serious implications. When one works for god, one must
work witha clean heart and character.3. Programs: All the programs
for the 10 days must be carefully planned taking into
considerationthe various age groups in a society. The programs must
be of interest to everyone. One must not forget the vision the
celebration was started with- Communication amongst masses. All the
programs must aim at active participation from every age group and
gender. Children, youth, mid-aged and senior citizens all are a part
of the society and hence must be given equalimportance. One must
include programs that aim on health, sports, entertainment. One
must address anyimportant health, social or political issue of
public interest.4. Ambience: One must not forget that when one
works for spiritual events, the complexity of thesituation
increases. It is very important to maintain the ambience and
serenity of the place. We asyoung people sometimes end up using
foul words or unacceptable exclamations. It is essential toavoid
such mistakes at a place of spiritual importance. All the musical
programs that are conducted must take into consideration senior
citizens, babies, illpeople and students while they play loud
music. The celebration is for the society and not just forthe bunch
of people organizing it.If one takes into consideration all the
above points, one can organize an ideal Ganeshotsav thataims at the
social development of our countrys children and youth and will
definitely contribute inmaking a healthy nation.Sei Deshpande

14. BIG NANO WORLD...Nanotechnology is the branch of technology
in which the manipulation of nano (tiny) materials atatomic or
molecular scale is done due to which its properties differ
significantly from those largerscale molecules. In the past the
phenomena was already put to use in the field of sunscreen
andcosmetics. But now the new technology will be used enormously in
the field of healthcare, filtration,Infrastructure electronics,
power etc. The first time the idea of Nanotechnology wasintroduced
in 1959 when Richard Feynman, a physicist at,Caltech gave a talk
titled There is plenty of room at thebottom and then Drexlers
vision of molecularmanufacturing evolved the field in 21st century.
In this new technology all the materials are measured inscale of
Nanometers (nm)and the particles of size1-100nm are considered as
Nano materials 1nm=10 -9(10 to the power minus 9) meters and 1000
nm=1micrometer.We have thousands of applications of these
tinymolecules:-(Very few of them are given below)PURIFICATION -
Much water today is wasted because it is almost but not entirely
pure. Simple, reliable mechanical and electrical treatment
technologies can recover brackish or tainted water foragricultural
or even domestic use. These technologies require only initial
manufacturing and amodest power supply. Physical filters with
Nanometer-scale pores can remove 100% of bacteria, viruses, and even
prions. The ability to recycle water from any source for any use
can save hugeamounts of water, and allow the use of presently
unusable water resources. It can also eliminatedownstream
pollution; a completely effective water filter also permits the
generation of quite "dirty"waste streams from agricultural and
industrial operations. This was the very basic working process of
these Nano particles. Nano particles play veryimportant role in the
following fields too..Healthcare, infrastructure, drug delivery,
solar power, electronic equipments, power and what not Currently
used bulbs convert approximately fivepercent of electrical energy
into light. With Nano technological approach, light emitting diodes
orquantum caged atoms could lead to strong deduction of energy
consumption for illumination. So now i began to tally up the ways
that Nano technology might change laptops. This indicateshow
powerful Nano technology is and has lot of potential for further
growth too.Mobile MannersCell phones are all around us every day
and they produce numerous experiences of obnoxiousbehaviors. And to
make matters worse, there is an onslaught of new ways to use our
cell phones. The annoying behaviors range from annoying ring tones
interrupting movies, meetings, and otherplaces to people talking
loudly on their cell phones in meetings and public places. So where
are theboundaries, the guidelines and the etiquette for cell phone
use? Here are ten (10) positive etiquette rules for cellphone
users.1. Put your cell phone, pager or other PDA device onmute or
turn it off during meetings and publicperformances.2. Select ring
tones that you will not regret.3. Speak softly rather than talking
loudly.4. Excuse yourself before talking a call.5. Commit to not
talking on your cell phone inelevators, libraries, museums,
restaurants, theaters, places of worship, and other public
places.6. Use the hands free device if you must use your cell phone
while in your car.7. If there is a true emergency, take the call.8.
Keep your cell phone conversations private, rather than subjecting
others to your conversations.9. Keep calm and avoid displaying
anger and becoming emotional during a call in a public place.
15. 10. Follow the rules that restrict or prohibit cell phones
in public places.11. Respect the personal space of others by
keeping 10 or more feet away from people whenspeaking on your cell
phone.12. Avoid interrupting a face-to-face conversation to take a
cell phone call because it will show youdo not believe the person
is important to you.Sei Deshpande.Guru PurnimaGuru Purnima is
traditionally held to be Bhagawan Vyasas birthday. According to the
Indiancalendar it falls on the 15th of the month of Ashada.
Bhagawan Vyasa is called Veda Vyasa - orthe Compiler of the Vedas.
Bhagawan Vyasa saw that, in the coming yugas, men would be
ofgrosser mind and would lack the ability to learn and retain all
of the Vedas. So he compiled theVedas into four parts the Rig,
Yajur, Sama and Atharva Veda. Furthermore he wrote the Puranas so
that the common people could also benefit from the knowledge of the
Vedas - he conveyed the same spiritual principles through the
medium of stories and parables. He is also the author of the Brahma
Sutras - the quintessence of Vedanta. So it is but fitting that his
birthday is celebrated as Guru Purnima. What is it that you are
supposed to know on this day of Guru Purnima? You must understand
that God is in you, with you, around you, above you, below you. In
fact, you are God. Recognise this truth in the first instance. Do
not entertain excessive desires and become beggars. Do your
dutysincerely. That is the true Sadhana. When you are in office, do
office work only; do not think ofyour family matters. Likewise,
when you are at home, take care of the needs of your wife
andchildren. Do not make your home an office. But today because of
too much work in office, peopletake office-papers to their homes to
complete their work. They are thus facing difficulties becausethey
mix up their office work, household work, business and spiritual
matters.Right from this day, try to reduce your attachment to the
world to the extent possible. Be happyand make others happy. Do not
hurt anybody. Consider difficulties as passing clouds. You
havedeveloped family relationships and there are bound to be some
worries. But do not be perturbedby them. When you look at the vast
sky, you find many clouds. Likewise, in the sky of your heartthere
are clouds of attachment. They just come and go. Do not worry about
them. What is theshape of worry? It is a mentally created fear. It
is the result of your imagination. Every man isbound to encounter
difficulties and losses. We should face them with courage. From
this day of Guru Purnima, make your hearts sacred. Just as you wave
away the mosquitoes that bite you, brush aside any difficulties
that assail you. Do not be depressed by sorrow nor be elated by
happiness. Develop equanimity and strive to attain Divinity. Today
is described as Guru Purnima Day. This is not quite correct. The
day got its name because of some gurus who wanted to have an
occasion for receiving offerings from their disciples. Theright
name for this day is Vyasa Purnima.Vyaasa was born on this full
moon day. He completed thecodification of the four Vedas on this
day. He completed thewriting of the eighteen puranas on this day.
Owing to the passageof time Vyasa Purnima came to be called Guru
Purnima.Serving the Guru
16. According to Shvetashvatara Upanishad (6/23) :Yasya deve
para bhaktir yatha deve tatha gurau |Tasyaite kathitaa hi arthaaha
prakashante mahatmanaha ||Translation:Guru be worshipped in the
same manner as the deity - God, to attain all there is toattain on
the path of God-realization.When this Self is within you where is
the need to search forsomeone to teach you?A teacher who teaches
others has had a teacher himself. Theone who has no Guru above him
is the true Guru. The Sanskritstanza which hails the Guru as
Brahma, Vishnu and Maheswaraand as Parabrahman is mis-interpreted.
The right approach is toconsider Brahma, Vishnu and Maheswara as
the Guru. Thesethree are symbolised by the three gunas: Brahma is
Rajas,Vishnu is Sathva and Siva is Thamas. The whole cosmos
isconstituted by the three gunas. The three gunas are present in
man. Thetrinity are present in theform of the three gunas in every
human heart.- Gajanan DeshpandeIMPORTANCE OF GURUPURNIMA [ : : ^ :
The above written lines, fully describe thesignificance of a
teacher in life of a person. ThePurnima of Ashad Shukla Paksha is
called GuruPurnima. It is also called Vyas Purnima.Tradition of
celebrating this day is carried onsince ancient days when students
used to haveeducation in Gurukul. This day, Pujan ofteachers is
performed. There are given special welcoming and respect. In the
year 2011, this daywill be on 15 July.Person should wake up early
in the morning and complete all his routine work like bathing etc.
Thenhe should go to meet his teacher. Guru should be seated on a
high pew and given respect. Money, fruits, flowers, clothes etc.
should be donated, according to the capability of an
individual.Worshipping teacher increases wisdom of an
individual.India is an ancient and traditional country. Here, Guru
is worshipped before God. On GuruPurnima, teacher is given respect
and their blessings are taken by offering them Guru Dakshina.Guru
Purnima is also known as Vyas Purnima. On this occasion Vyaso
Narayana, the Guru ofworld is worshiped. Hence, this day of Guru
Puja is called Vyas Puja. In order to walk on the pathof knowledge
and goodness in life, it is must to have a teacher.Guru Purnima
UtsavOn Guru Purnima, birthday of Maharishsi Vyas is celebrated in
whole with full excitement. It isconsidered auspicious to worship
Guru and have their blessings on this day. By the blessings ofGuru,
a person leads his life on a spiritual path. The relationship
between Master and disciple ispurely a spiritual connection which
is not effected by their ages. This relationship of devotion
isbased on maturity and manhood. A Student should always have a
feeling that by the guidance ofmaster, he will have spiritual
growth and a teacher should think of his disciples welfare.Guru
Puja is a day of bowing to the spiritual connection between teacher
and student. If teacherwould not have told about the significance
of becoming a human and the made them have theknowledge of soul,
then no one would have had the vision of soul.Guru Purnima
Agricultural ImportanceOn the day of Guru Purnima that is Vyas
Purnima, natures air test is taken. It is useful foragricultural
and gardening work during monsoon. Vyas Purnima is considered
favourable for airtest. This day, prediction is made for the new
crops by testing monsoon. And, drought and floodcondition for the
next 4 months is forecasted. India is country of agriculture.
Hence, this daybecomes more significant.Maharishi Vyas Jayanti
MelaMaharishi Vyas composed the great Granth, Mahabharata.
Additionally, he wrote 18 Puranas,
17. Srimad Bhagwat, Brahma Sutra, Mimansa etc. He was the son
of Rishi Parashar, father ofastrology. Srimad Bhagwat Geeta is a
part of Mahabharata. On this occasion of Guru Purnima, fair are
organised in many parts of the country.Importance of Guru
PurnimaGuru is given a higher position than God, because of his
qualities and qualification. Guru is calledBrahma. Teacher gives a
new birth to his students. Guru is true Mahadev because he forgives
allflaws done by his disciple. In India, Guru is given spiritual,
religious and political significance. During the times of
trouble, teachers have shown a new path to this nation. They dont
just a teacher but, they tell a person thathow to come out from any
kind of problem and danger.Guru takes an individual to light from
darkness. In simple words, he can be called the mass
ofknowledge.Hindus attach paramount importance to spiritual gurus.
Gurus are often equated with God andalways regarded as a link
between the individual and the Immortal. Just as the moon shines
byreflecting the light of the sun, and glorifies it, all disciples
can dazzle like the moon by gaining fromtheir Gurus. What is Guru
Purnima? The full moon day in the Hindu month of Ashad (July-August)
is observed as the auspicious day ofGuru Purnima, a day sacred to
the memory of the great sage Vyasa. All Hindus are indebted tothis
ancient saint who edited the four Vedas, wrote the 18 Puranas, the
Mahabharata and theSrimad Bhagavata. Vyasa even taught Dattatreya,
who is regarded as the Guru of Gurus.Significance of Guru PurnimaOn
this day, all spiritual aspirants and devotees worship Vyasa in
honor of his divine personageand all disciples perform a puja of
their respective spiritual preceptor or Gurudevs. This day is of
deep significance to the farmers, for it heralds the setting in of
the much-neededrains, as the advent of cool showers usher in fresh
life in the fields. It is a good time to begin yourspiritual
lessons. Traditionally, spiritual seekers commence to intensify
their spiritual sadhanafrom this day.The period Chaturmas ("four
months") begins from this day. In the past, wandering
spiritualmasters and their disciples used to settle down at a place
to study and discourse on the BrahmaSutras composed by Vyasa, and
engage themselves in Vedantic discussions. The Role of the GuruSwami
Sivananda asks: "Do you realize now the sacred significance and the
supreme importanceof the Gurus role in the evolution of man? It was
not without reason that the India of the pastcarefully tended and
kept alive the lamp of Guru-Tattva. It is therefore not without
reason thatIndia, year after year, age after age, commemorates anew
this ancient concept of the Guru, adores it and pays homage to it
again and again, and thereby re-affirms its belief and allegiance
toit. For, the true Indian knows that the Guru is the only
guarantee for the individual to transcend thebondage of sorrow and
death, and experience the Consciousness of the Reality."At the
Sivananda Ashram, Rishikesh, the Guru Purnima is celebrated every
year on a grand scale.1. All aspirants awake at Brahmamuhurta, at 4
oclock. They meditate on the Guru and chant hisprayers.2. Later in
the day, the sacred worship of the Gurus Feet is performed. Of this
worship it is said inthe Guru Gita: [ : [ [ ] [ ["The Gurus form
should be meditated upon; the feet of the Guru should be
