Here are a few scriptures to consider. What is very remarkable about the early church is that they all believed Jesus rose from the dead, and their own lives were dramatically changed. Before his death they were often afraid, occasionally bewildered, and though they followed Jesus they did not emulate his qualities of faith and courage. After his death they were truly transformed into people of courage and clarity of vision. They overcame great resistance and persecution. Their own explanation of this transformation is that Jesus had been raised. Their transformed lives had such an impact that we today are inspired by the Easter experience. Mark 9:31-32: “(Jesus) said to them, “The Son of Man is going to be delivered into the hands of men. They will kill him, and after three days he will rise.” But (the disciples) did not understand what he meant and were afraid to ask him about it.” Hebrews 2:14-15: “Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might break the power of him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil—and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death.” I Corinthians 15:3-8: “For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, and then to the Twelve. After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers and sisters at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles, and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one untimely born.” Colossians 3:1-4: “Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.” Holy Week Schedule March 13—Stations of the Cross Opens for Public viewing March 20—Palm Sunday Fellowship Brunch March 24—Maundy Thursday Service 6:30 PM at First Baptist Church March 25—Good Friday Service & Live Stations of the Cross March 27—EASTER SUNDAY Services: 7:30 AM—Sunrise Service 10:00 AM—Easter Worship Easter Cantata March Events Mar. 5— 8:00AM—Male Call Mar. 8— 7:00PM—Butterfly Group Mar. 10— 6:00PM—Membership Committee Mar. 11—10:00AM—MOMS Group Mar. 14— 6:00PM—Finance Committee Mar. 17— 6:00PM—Church Board Meeting Mar. 20—10:00AM—Palm Sunday Service 11:30AM—Fellowship “BRUNCH” Mar. 24— 6:30PM—Maundy Thursday Service at First Baptist Church Mar. 25—10:00AM—MOMS Group 12:00PM—Good Friday Service & Live Stations of the Cross Mar. 27— 7:30AM—Easter Sunrise Service 8:30AM—Easter Breakfast 10:00AM—Easter Cantata Service

As we approach Easter I've been thinking about what it means. Their own

explanation of this transformation is that Jesus had been raised. Their transformed lives had such an impact that we today are inspired by the Easter experience.

Mark 9:31-32: “(Jesus) said to them, “The Son of Man is going to be delivered into the hands of men. They will kill him, and after three days he will rise.” But (the disciples) did not understand what he meant and were afraid to ask him about it.”

Hebrews 2:14-15: “Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might break the power of him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil—and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death.”

I Corinthians 15:3-8: “For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, and then to the Twelve. After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers and sisters at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles, and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one untimely born.”

Colossians 3:1-4: “Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.”

Outreach News & Reports

ATTENTION Outreach Ministries!!

This section of our monthly newsletter will be set aside for reports, needs, and upcoming events for the various groups and projects that are a part of our FCC Outreach. Please be thinking of things you would like to share with the church family for the month of APRIL and send to the Church Office by email by March 18, so that we have time & space to include in the next newsletter.

New Mobile Pantry Site in San Marcos, Texas

As of the 2013 Feeding America study ‘Map the Meal Gap’, Hays County has 25,380 individuals who are food insecure. The USDA defines food insecurity as a state in which “consistent access to adequate food is limited by a lack of money and other resources at times during the year.” Families and individuals throughout our community are faced with the decision to purchase food or pay rent or pay utilities or some other type of bill on a daily or weekly basis. The Food Bank is committed to easing this burden when it comes to full bellies.

The Hays County Food Bank holds six public food distributions Monday-Thursday throughout the county and also provides food to over 20 partner agencies weekly. However, with 70% of the San Marcos CISD students qualifying for free or reduced lunches, it is apparent that there is still a great need.

Hays County Food Bank Promotes “Amplify Austin”- March 8th-9th

Amplify Austin is an annual community-wide day of online giving. The 24-hour period provides an easy and fun way for the entire community to give together while helping local nonprofits. Over the past three years, Amplify Austin has raised over $16.2M for hundreds of local organizations. In 2015, 41% of the 44,700 Amplify Austin donations were first time gifts to nonprofit organizations. Over $7.7M was raised for over 500 Central Texas nonprofits.
