PLEASE REMEMBER: Everyone is strongly encouraged to wear a mask when coming to church on Sunday and Wednesday. Please wear a mask going to and from the sanctuary and Sunday School. Please feel free to take your mask off after you are seated in your Sunday School class and in the sanctuary.
In the coming weeks members of First Baptist Church will be receiving a phone call from a staff member. The purpose of
the call will be to update information (phone num-ber, address, e-mail, etc.). This will also be an opportunity for church members to share any prayer request with the staff. We look forward to talking to you personally in the coming weeks.
Beginning Sunday, August 2nd, First Baptist Church will be streaming a Sunday School class live for those who are unable to attend Sunday School during this time of pandemic. We will be livestreaming as Allen Winstead teaches the Discovery Class and the Becoming Class in the Family Life Center Dining Room. The Sunday School lesson will go live each week at 10:00 AM. To watch the lesson go to Facebook and in the search type “Senatobia Sunday School FBC”. After the search you may have to scroll down a bit to find it. UPCOMING DATES FOR KIDS
YOUTH NEWS
First, let me thank you for your prayers. I strained my Achilles tendon
somehow and Saturday night, I couldn’t put any weight on it. I also thank
Glenn for being willing to jump in at the last moment. We are blessed to
have Glenn in our church and music ministry.
I had a discussion with someone about “grace” the other day. They men-
tioned a shortcoming in their life and said “well, God’s grace covers me.” I
guess it was more they way they said it than what they said (God’s grace
does cover our sins). But as Paul so aptly stated in Romans 6:1-2: “Well
then, should we keep on sinning so that God can show us more and more of
his wonderful grace? Of course not! Since we have died to sin, how can we
continue to live in it?” God’s grace does cover our sins but notice that Paul
said we have died to sin? That’s also grace. God gives us the grace and
power to overcome sin. But to live in sin, to relish in sin and count on
God’s forgiveness so we can just go on sinning is a different issue entire-
ly. It speaks to our choosing sin over Christ. This is never a good position
for a follower of Christ. If we are no longer convicted of our sin, we need
to take action immediately. God will bring discipline into our lives if we
choose to continue to sin. Hebrews 12:10 teaches us clearly that God disci-
plines those he loves and he does it for our benefit. So we can share in his
holiness and righteousness. True joy, peace, hope and love exist in our
walk with God. We will never find that in any sin we enjoy. Look forward
to worshiping with you this Sunday! Randy
All Active Group activities are postponed until further notice. The senior adult community is at a higher risk of contracting Covid-19 from social interactions. We encourage all of our Senior Adults to carefully practice social distancing during this time of pandemic.

A WORD FROM YOUR PASTOR
Look at Psalm 70.
“Make haste, O God, to deliver me! O Lord, make haste to help
me! 2 Let them be put to shame and confusion who seek my
life! Let them be turned back and brought to dishonor who de-
light in my hurt! 3 Let them turn back because of their shame
who say, “Aha, Aha!” 4 May all who seek you rejoice and be
glad in you! May those who love your salvation say evermore,
“God is great!” 5 But I am poor and needy; hasten to me, O
God! You are my help and my deliverer; O Lord, do not delay!”
Do you ever feel like David must have felt when he wrote this
psalm? Just wanting the Lord to hurry up and deliver you from your
situation? I bet we all have at one time or another.
The problem is, rarely does the Lord bring an end our situation when
we want Him to. That’s when we have to trust that His plan and His
purposes are best.
If He hasn’t brought an end to your problem, you can rest assured
that there’s a good reason for it.
It might be to increase your faith. It might be so that someone on
the outside can be encouraged by the way you handle adversity. Or
it might be that your situation is part of much larger situation that
you aren’t even aware of.
Whatever His reason for tarrying may be, the Lord will bring an end
to your trial when He is ready, and not before.
It’s certainly ok to pray for His expedience in the matter, but until it’s
done, have patience and be faithful. Just like David did.
1 John 3:1-3 this Sunday morning. See you then!
Love you all,
Bro. Chris
