Daniel’s striking statement pieces demonstrate a profound social commentary on the popular culture of the early 21st century. His recent work features celebrities and icons past and present, but in his distinctive style which he describes as ‘controlled chaos’, he renders these familiar faces somehow unfamiliar.

Daniel’s evolution as an artist was far from conventional; having started life as a graffiti writer, he went on to study Graphic Design and Electronic Media, and gradually moved into the area of fine art where he has now built an enviable reputation. He has always experimented with different mediums and is currently exploring a combination of digital, acrylic, watercolour and ink.

In addition to his status as an artist Daniel has become a powerful and influential voice of conscience on London’s contemporary art scene. He has been involved with a number of charitable events, and in 2015 he curated a successful show at notorious Farringdon nightclub Fabric, which showcased 15 years of Fabric artwork from artists including Goldie, Inkie, Carne Griffiths, Russell Marshall, Benjamin Murphy and more, with all proceeds going to CALM.*

The age old subject matter is brought to life through Colin’s skilful and imaginative application of modern processes. He produces his pieces on aluminium panels by laying down a white base coat, then working with airbrush and spray paint to compose an abstract background and the darker shapes of his subject. Once this stage is completed he moves on to the finer details and highlights, for which he calls on a range of tools to engrave or incise on the painted surface, exposing the underlying white and creating the image in intaglio (relief). The result is mesmerising and translates beautifully into extraordinarily high impact limited editions.

Although Colin set up his studio comparatively recently, his ultra-stylish and distinctive work has already made an impact across the UK. The power of the subject matter combined with the technical panache of his creative process means these pieces are uniquely arresting and make a strong statement in any setting.

Carefully considered colour, precision in perspective and proportion, but above all, joyous brushstrokes are the key elements of these dazzling mixed media works, in which Carlos seeks “pure creativity without limits or conditions”. Fascinated by the concept of interior and exterior space, and social interaction within it, he says:

“Right now I am in a creative phase in which I imagine the cities that I paint. These cities are not real; they only exist in my imagination. They have been born from memories and images that I have internalised observing architecture as the skeleton of the buildings and the urban society that organises the city. Cities are the best way to reflect the innovations of our time and the modern days that we live in.”

Carlos graduated in Architecture with the highest rating, honorable mention, from University in Madrid in 2017. Since then he has made an impression on the international art world, with his work featuring in publications as Paris fashion magazine L’Officiel Hommes. He received a diploma and medal of honour from the GEN TEN foundation in Japan for an exhibition at the Municipal Museum of Osaka where he now has work on permanent display.

This autumn we are proud to present an exclusive collection of radiant original oil paintings from acclaimed British artist Julie Ann Scott. This collection offers an insight into Julie Ann’s passion for nature and light and explores her immense gift for innovation in colour, all set against the beautiful landscape of the Lake District where she has lived and worked for many years.

Famously Julie Ann is also fascinated by water and what lies beneath the surface, and she has recently been inspired by the coast as well as the lakes and mountains. She says: “The sea is like space and I am fascinated with exploring the life and light of this amazing dimension. From the flashing, fizzing dynamics of a spinning shoal of fish spiralling in shafts of sunlight to static grace and drama of a shipwreck, these underwater scenes present an unmissable artistic challenge as I aim to capture this ever-changing medium.”

“Capturing the scenery and drenching it in gloriously moody light is both a challenge and a joy” she says. “The weather is fascinating too, particularly the unpredictability of storms. Life’s storms come and go of course - there is maybe always one just beyond the horizon and the ambiguity of whether the storm is just arriving or leaving in these paintings is intentional. But I hope that what is not ambiguous is the fact that there is always relief and light in dark moments.”

Nemo grew up in Chisinau, the capital city of Moldova, an Eastern European nation renowned for its rich artistic heritage. He remembers being fascinated by the carvings and other craftworks that surrounded him. In particular he loved paintings and from an early age he was determined to become an artist. He began intense inquiry into the style and techniques of the famous painters and formed a particular interest in the work of the Surrealists.

He enrolled in art school but did not enjoy the strict academic style of the Russian-based academy and abandoned his traditional training in favour

of practical experience. His talent flourished and soon he was organizing large outdoor art fairs to show his work and that of other young artists. After completing his tour of duty in the army he started an art restoration business which led to painting murals in churches, until increased freedoms in a previously Soviet-dominated country inspired the desire to travel and Nemo and his family moved to Canada where he now lives and works.

His work is gaining an increasing number of collectors in Canada, the US and now, Europe, and we are proud to include it in our portfolio.

The prevalent theme in Nemo’s work is travel and the discovery of the beauty and excitement of new places. His distinctive images draw together the charm and mood of several famous cities at once to create a

dreamlike memory of time and space in a fascinating combination of mixed media.

Taking these subjects as her starting point, she embarks on a journey of technical and stylistic discovery, experimenting with colours, materials, media, texture and scale. She likes to let the process show through in the finished work so that the artist’s hand can be seen, communicating the emotions and humour it was created to reveal. At the end of the process she delineates and highlights the image with expressive black lines – a feature which renders her work uniquely recongnisable.

“My chosen subjects are universal and I hope everyone can identify with them. Each piece is spontaneous, unique in its imperfections just like me, and reflects how I speak, think and live. Every piece is a piece of myself.”

Spontaneous style meets rigorous composition in the compelling work of Dutch painter Marieke Bekke. Her joyful personality is reflected in her artwork which is inspired by stories of living together in the city or the country, love, family, and, she says, happiness.

Marieke’s striking mixed media images are characterised by strong contrasts, vigorous brush work, interesting colour combinations and accessible subject matter.

When Marieke portrays static subjects such as architecture and landscapes, they metamorphose during the painting process into expressive graphic works and views.
