    2018 Annual Conference

    FIND YOUR JOY

March 25-28, 2018 Hilton Head Island, SC

  • WELCOME FROM YOUR SCASFAA PRESIDENTFIND YOUR JOY

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the 52nd Annual Conference of the South Carolina Student Financial Aid Administrators in beautiful Hilton Head, SC! I am so very excited to share the next couple of days with you!

Elizabeth Milam and the conference committee have put together a great program full of timely sessions and fun activities and I look forward to this time together to recharge and Find my Joy! We have a number of special guests who will be joining us this week to provide informative sessions including Justin Draeger (President of NASFAA), Marian Dill (SASFAA Immediate Past-President), Biz Daniel (VASFAA President), and of course, our favorite friendly FED, David Bartnicki (Department of Education). The Global Issues committee, led by Gerrick Hampton, is presenting an interactive Poverty Simulation Monday afternoon, and I encourage everyone to participate in this special activity. Tuesday evening, Kevin Perry will host the SCASFAA version of Family Feud after dinner and everyone is invited to participate. We will have a great time finding out what the Survey Says! Wednesday morning we will celebrate Spirit Day, so make sure to represent your school colors!

We would not be able to have this time together to Find our Joy without the support of our Sponsors, new and old! Thank you to Melanie Gillespie, chair of the Sponsorship Committee for all of the hard work this year! We have 15 sponsors who will be attending the conference this year, including four brand new companies and one welcome-back company! Please take some time during the breaks to visit with our partners and get to know the representatives from each organization as well as the services they offer to our members. A big thank you to each sponsor for the support, guidance, and friendship that you bring to our association!

This year I selected Canine Angels Service Dogs as the conference charity. CASD, located in Little River, SC, rescues shelter animals from SC humane societies and trains them to be service animals for disabled veterans, injured first responders, and children with autism. They also have a therapy dog program that visits children, nursing homes, hospitals, and assisted living centers. Please take some time to visit the charity table located outside the entrance to the ballrooms to familiarize yourself with the charitys mission as well as view the items up for bidding. If silent auctions are not your thing, you can buy 50/50 raffle tickets or make a monetary donation. Thank you for your support of our conference charity!

I hope that everyone has a wonderful few days together, celebrating our organization as well as the friendships that we have created over the years. SCASFAA truly is like a second family to so many and Im thankful for each and every member who makes our organization so strong.

    With Joy,

    Jennifer Williams2017-18 SCASFAA President

  • Please join me in supporting Canine Angels Service Dogs organization for our conference charity this year! Canine Angels is a little different from other service dog organizations because they rescue and train shelter dogs instead of breeding. As you all know, Im definitely a fan of rescuing dogs! Please check out the Canine Angels Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/CAServiceDogs/.

At the conference, you will be able to bid on Silent Auction items as well as buy raffle tickets as we have done in the past. We will also have t-shirts you can purchase in support of this wonderful charity. For anyone who wants to contribute but is not attending the conference, you can donate through PayPal by clicking the Donate button online at https://www.scasfaa.org/2018-annual-charity.

Thank you, SCASFAA members for all of the support this year!
