Twenty-Second Sunday of Ordinary Time

September 1 ~ Today’s readings highlight the im-portance of the virtue of humility. In the first read-ing we hear, “conduct your affairs with humility, and you will be loved more than a giver of gifts.” In the Gospel parable, we hear Jesus say, “everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.” Humility is a rare quality in today’s world. The humble person recognizes that all we have and all we are is a gift from God. This week take some time to thank and praise God for all that has been given to you so that you may grow in humility.

Join us for a new 10-session video Bible Study from the Lectio series called Evangelization and the

Acts of the Apostles. Who better to look to for guid-ance on evangelization than the Apostles and disci-ples of the early Church. And what better place to read their stories than in the firsthand account of the Acts of the Apostles. In this study, Dr. Mary Healy combines insightful biblical study with Church teaching and practical advice to show how modern Catholics can effectively impact their world for Jesus Christ. She explores topics such as the call of Jesus to evangelize, the power of the Sacraments, the role of charisms for building up the Body of Christ, tech-niques from St. Paul for reaching a secular culture, and more. Using the Lectio Divina approach of reading, reflecting, responding, and contemplating, the study presents classic artistry, penetrating ques-tions, and personal reflection to take the teachings to a deeper level. Dates: October 1 - December 3 Time: Tuesdays, 10 am - 12 noon Venue: Murphy Room Materials fee: $10 for workbook Deadline for registration if ordering a workbook:

Christmas Fair Meeting!

A Catholic Men's Conference (A Symposium on Truth II) will be held on September 28 at St. Mary's Foxboro and all men are invited. The event begins after the 9am Mass with three engaging talks along with discussion and fellowship. The talks are short, 25 minutes each, with discussion, focused on under-standing and living out the truth of our faith. Topics include faith and reason, the Shroud of Turin, and spiritual warfare. Lunch will be offered at 12:30 with open-ended fellowship time. All men are wel-come to attend. Please RSVP for the lunch count to [email protected]

As Catholics, we know Mary is important, but many of us never fully grasp how essential she really is. Now we can. This study un-veils the mystery of Our Lady that is woven into the fabric of Sacred Scripture. Join us for this 12 session, video based bible study led by Matthew Leonard and based on Dr. Scott Hahn's book Hail Holy Queen in which the Mary of doctrine and devotion comes alive in a powerful, new way. The Bible and the Virgin Mary is part of the St. Paul Center for Biblical Theology’s dynamic Journey Through Scripture Bible study series.

Dates: October 2, 9,16, 23, 30, Nov. 6, 13, 20, Dec. 4, 11, Jan. 8, 15. Time: Wednesdays, 7pm - 8:30pm Venue: Murphy Room Materials fee: $10 for workbook Deadline for registration if ordering a workbook:

Clergy Health and Retirement Trustclergytrust.org

Healthier Priests. Stronger Communities.

Funds from this special collection are managed by the Clergy Health and Retirement Trust – an independently managed trust with a majority lay board of trustees. The funds are used for the sole benefit of active and senior priests in good standing.

The strength and vibrancy of our communities depend largely on the welfare of our priests who tirelessly serve others from all walks of life.

Powerful examples of strength in community are visible across 144 cities and towns of the Archdiocese of Boston. The roots of these communities can be traced back to the work of our priests.

Pine Street Inn: A Boston priest was one of the original founders of Pine Street Inn, which provides shelter and emergency services for nearly 2,000 homeless men and women in the Boston area every day.

Cor Unum: Started by a Lawrence pastor, Cor Unum (“One Heart”) food pantry serves more than 250,000 meals annually to poverty-stricken families in Lawrence.

Addiction Support for Families: A Boston priest’s expertise in addiction and recovery has been instrumental for organizations helping families and individuals in the grips of addiction.

Rostro de Cristo: Efforts to help the poor on the margins of Ecuador’s largest city is hard work, except for those who have been inspired by a Boston priest who started Rostro de Cristo, an organization based in Boston that lives the Gospel and serves the poor.

It’s simple: healthier priests mean stronger communities. Please support clergytrust.org
