Attendance and engagement

As a student I will:Attend, and prepare for, all my scheduled teaching sessions and other learning events, such as induction and meetings with academic advisors. (University of Manchester Student Charter, 2012)

Attendance and engagement

• Seminar and workshop attendance will be monitored

• Spot checks may be carried out in lectures

• Students can be prevented from taking exams on the basis of poor attendance

• If you are absent, make sure you complete an absence from class form

• If you experience mitigating circumstances you must inform the Assessment and Student Support Office (D14), complete the necessary paperwork and provide evidence

FeedbackFeedback comes in many forms.

• Informal advice and discussion during a lecture, seminar, workshop or lab

• Online exercises and quizzes delivered through the course Blackboard space

• Responses to your emails and questions from a member of staff, including feedback provided to a group via an online discussion forum

• Specific course related feedback sessions

• Written and/or verbal comments on assessed or non assessed coursework

• Written and/or verbal comments after you have given a group or individual presentation

• Generic feedback posted on Blackboard regarding overall examination performance

• Group and individual discussions/meetings with your Academic Advisor

• Discussions and meetings with your Programme Director

To get meaningful feedback you must engage in your education.

• Teams of 4 students (MBS final year, any course)– Apply as an individual – we will sort the teams out

• Compete against students from the world’s premier business schools

• CV and cover letter to Viv Browne by 12pm on Monday 1st October 2012

Selection

• Monday 1 October – CV and covering letter to be e-mailed to Viv Browne by 12.00 pm

• Tuesday 2 October – Shortlisted students who will go forward for selection process will be advised

• Wednesday 3 October (B8 MBSE) – 1:00pm – 6.00pm Student Selection Process will take place

• Wednesday 10 October onwards – formal training sessions will commence
