Latest DfE information
• The existing primary curriculum will continue to be in force in 20011.12 DfE will not proceed with new Curriculum
• Languages remain an entitlement from 2010 in primary
• Schools should continue to use existing key Stage 3 level descriptors not the new ones
• Languages Diploma stopped

• Arrangements for designation and redesignation suspended from September 2009
• Current funding arrangements for specialist schools will continue
• Ofsted inspection will no longer trigger redesignation
• BUT Ofsted inspection will continue to inspect specialism and make a statement about its impact within report

New arrangements
• If a SIPs judges that a school is not meeting the requirements it will be placed in probation for a year
• If a school still does not meet the requirements after its probation year it may be de-designated
• Schools in probation continue to be funded. They will qualify for support from SSAT/YST

HPSS• Existing HPSS will retain their funding until their next
redesignation (3 years after their last point of redesignation)
• Existing HPSS which re-designated in academic year 2008/09 will continue being funded for their options to at least end of August 2010 during which time they will be considered against the 2009 HPSS criteria.
• Training Schools are decoupled from HPSS
