    Introduction

    In this project E-R diagram is demonstrated.

    Entity Relationship model or entity Relationship

    Diagram offers a solution to the problem of

    scale and practicability by modeling the

    relationship between groups of data element

    rather than individual data element, these

    groups are entities . The three elements used

    in E-R Diagramming are entities, relationship

    and attributes.

    Project ProposalOur project is regarding the database of

    University known as UMT. It is one of the best

    universities in Lahore. It is located in primesituation in Garden Town. The system proposed

    by us is a computerized database to improve

    the current system. Due to this the load on

    registrar will be reduced the student

    information procedure will be less consuming.The computerized information system will be in

    line with the modern and advanced system of

    monitoring and processing. It will be an

    efficient, economical and prompt system,

    which will minimize the data in register menu

    books to store and preserve the various

    records pertaining to the manager.

    Admission ProcessEach year UMT attracts talented individualsfrom a wide range of backgrounds andpotential to become tomorrows leaders.They are admitted to the university through acompetitive process that starts with the fillingof the Application for Admission which isavailable at the Office of Admissions. The filledform, along with the required documents,should be sent to the Office of Admissions bythe given deadline. That office goes throughthe material

    submitted by the student and makes a list of

    applicants who fulfill the eligibility criteria fortheir desired degree program. These applicantsare then called in for the Admission Test and/orInterview.Individual offers of admission are then mailedto the selected applicants along with thedetails of the orientation program.

    LibraryUMT supports its academic programs andresearch initiatives through a fully automatedlibrary, on-site collections and a variety ofonline services. UMT library is an indispensable

    source of information and is one of the finestworking libraries in Pakistan. The number ofcorporate clients and alumni who continue touse its services on a regular basis underlinethe quality of the library. Experienced libraryprofessionals are on staff always willing to

    assist the users with the library'scomprehensive information and researchmaterials. The integrated library systemfacilitates lending, reference and informationservices and offers a comprehensive serviceportfolio for the participants, faculty andresearchers. Library services are supported

    through a dedicated line, which providesparticipants access to periodicals, databases,online searching and browsing.

    Immense Resources Collection

    Library a fully automated information resourcecenter with over 50000 books and bound

    periodicals in stock. The library houses morethan 1000 company reports and profiles, 1500reports from top

    corporations, 1000 project reports, andmonographs and mimeographs, and 500compact diskettes. Almost 3000 new works

    are added to stock each year, on the average.With a modest collection of 500 audio andvideo cassettes, the library also providesaudiovisual facilities. 500 CD's and otherresources are also available on internetthrough the membership of digital libraries.

    Subscriptions

    The library subscribes to 20 local and foreignnewspapers including Khaleej Times,International Herald Tribune, Financial Times,and Sunday Times, and almost 150 currentnational and international periodicals, journalsand magazines.

    Databases

    Indexing and Current Affairs Bibliographydatabases developed by UMT Research and

    Development Department, which provide quickand easy access to more than 300,000newspaper and magazine articles, are ofimmense value for the library users. Thisservice is unique and one-of-its-kind inPakistan.

    Digital Resources

    UMT library is also a major user of electronicinformation services and as such hassubscribed for various digital libraries, toprovide access to a wide range of availableonline resources. Many more publications are

    made available through this facility with morethan 100000 records of library materials andrecords of journals. The aim is to support thecourse and research needs of participants andprovide them access to a large number ofelectronic information databases, both full text

    and bibliographic.

    Diverse Sections

    UMT Library besides having a reasonable

    collection of latest books and materials on

    related academic disciplines comprises of

    separate sections on general collection.

    EXAMINATION

    The award at the end of a semester to theparticipant based on his or her academic

    performance in a course is called a Grade.During a semester the participants may be

    required to take the following tests andexaminations in addition to home work,

    projects or assignments, for each course (asdecided by the course instructor):

    a) Quizzes: A number of short tests conductedfrequently in each course at irregular intervalsthroughout the semester, with or withoutprevious announcement.

    b) Midterm Examinations: One or moreexaminations conducted during the semester(before the Final Examination).

    c) Final Examination: The last examination ofabout 2 to 3 hours duration is given for each

    course on its completion. This examinationmay or may not be comprehensive (dependingon the decision of the course instructor.)

    All final examinations of the university shallbe held on dates and according to theschedule prepared by the ControllerExaminations of the University in

    consultation with the respective Deans. Practical examination (including viva voce

    or presentation) will normally be heldbefore the final examination week.

    For the purpose of practical examination,the Faculty member may divide candidatesinto subgroups.

    The Ph.D./MS/Masters Thesis/Dissertationshall be examined by the Committeeconstituted for this purpose.
