Create a question with the stemsWhat does the standard mean?

Create a bulleted list of questions about what is required knowledge based on the standards.

Explain what you know about the standard according to the questions you wrote that address the knowledge needed in the standard.

Make a personal connection or create an analogy to explain the standard in your own words

Summative Final Project Feb17-March24

The Final Project is unique expression of what you have learned in physical science this year. No matter which project you choose your understanding of the Standards must be made clear. EVERY Sub-standard should explained in your own words. You must also make a personal

connection with the material and demonstrate your mastery of all of the Physical Science concepts by including stories, pictures, diagrams or some other creative display that highlights

how you best understand/breakdown the material.

Study Guide Your Study Guide is unique expression of what

you have learned in physical science this year. Your understanding of the each of the Sub-Standards must be clear. All of the Sub-

standards should be explained in your words. This should be approached like you are making

an instruction manual for Physical Science. You should make connections to each sub-standard using real life situations or even

incorporate movie situations (all must be school appropriate); include a breakdown of the material,

include DOK questions, create pneumonic

devices or include study tips as aids for learning the material. You can submit your

study guide as a worksheet or power point presentation; if you would like to do something that is

not listed you must get approval from Ms. Aiken first. Use the rubric on the back to ensure that you

have not forgotten to include any of the sub-standards.

Thematic Connection Make a personal connection to our standards

through one of your favorite things. Using a favorite pass time like cooking, sports, music or a book, song, or movie (all must be school appropriate); identify and explain each of the sub-standards that we have learned this year.

Your connections need to be clearly explained with direct connections made in your own words following the outline rubric on the back.

Your connection may be submitted in a paragraph, power point, or through some other creative means. Be sure to include visual aids

like pictures from a movie/sports/or other activity (*bonus points if you are in the pictures playing sports/an instrument/or cooking) or excerpts from your book.

Use the rubric on the back to ensure that you have not forgotten to include any of the sub-

standards.

Story Book Complete a story book about our Physical Science Standards. Include an explanation of each sub-standard and provide information

and examples for each of them. As you address each sub-standard include with

definitions, examples, as well as 4 DOK questions for each standard there are 5 standards total not each sub-standard. Your book may be strictly informative or a creative representation that will inform and entertain

readers. Be sure that you incorporate how the relationships and interactions of all of the sub-

standards. Demonstrate each of the sub-standards in a real world way then explain the sub-standard in your own words.

Be sure that your book is correct, colorful, and clean. AT LEAST 20 Pages.

Use the rubric on the back to ensure that you have not forgotten to include any of the sub-

standards.

Scrapbook Create a connection Scrapbook (using power point or construction paper and white printer paper) that shows the relationships and

interactions of all of the sub-standards. Find pictures in magazines, newspapers, etc.

that help demonstrate each of the sub-standards in a real world way then explain the sub-standard in your own words.

Must include vocabulary words, diagrams, examples and at least 3 explained connections

pages (think about the water cycle/space/circle of life), as well as 4 DOK questions for each standard there are 5 standards total not each

sub-standard. Use the rubric on the back to ensure that you

have not forgotten to include any of the sub-standards. THIS IS NOT A DICTIONARY/LIST OF

SUBSTANDARDS!
