Chinese Culture Rodney Jeffreys I. Government A. The Chinese government has placed all power within the People’s Republic of China which is separated into four separate bodies. 1. Legislative Branch a. This branch of the government is made up of the National People’s Congress. Legislature has the power to legislate, oversee the operations of the government, and elect the major officers of the state. 2. Judicial Branch a. The Judicial branch is divided into the Supreme People’s Court and the Supreme People’s Procuratorate. 1. The Supreme People’s Court is made up of over 340 judges with the Chief Grand Justice serving as the leader. The court is also separates into two different systems, because different regions have different interpretations of the law. 2. The Supreme People’s Procuratorate is responsible for the prosecution and investigation of court cases. The Procuratorate is headed by the Procurator- General. 3. Executive Branch a. I. Government

A. The Chinese government has placed all power within the People’s Republic of China which is separated into four separate bodies.

1. Legislative Branch

a. This branch of the government is made up of the National People’s Congress. Legislature has the power to legislate, oversee the operations of the government, and elect the major officers of the state.

2. Judicial Branch

a. The Judicial branch is divided into the Supreme People’s Court and the Supreme People’s Procuratorate.

3. Executive Branch

a. The executive branch is made up of the State Council. The council, or the Central People’s Government, is the chief administrative authority of the People’s Republic and is headed by the Premier. The State Council includes the leaders of the governmental departments and agencies. The current Premier of the Central People’s Government is Incumbent Li Keqiang.

4. Military Branch

a. The Branch is made up of the People’s Liberation Army and the Central Military Commission.

1. The People’s Liberation Army is the military of the Communist Party of China. This is the largest military in the world which has about 2,285,000 personnel.

2. The Central Military Commission supervises the People’s Liberation Army. It is the supreme policy making and is headed by the commander in chief of the armed forces.
