A year ago, Jean was appointed United Nations rapporteur for the multimedia progam for Western Africa and the Maghreb region.

BIOGRAPHYJean Mazel is an audiovisual and communications expert,

specialized in the development of educational and humanitarian media projects. From an early age, he was immersed in the world of movie making, sharing his time between editing rooms and film sets.

From 1997 to 2004 Jean worked as a chief editor of institutional videos for the family company VIDEKA Production.After a year of questioning and challenge (2005-2006) Jean left for Cambodia on a mission for MC&D Cambodia,

an establishment specialized in institutional films for NGOs, international organizations and United Nations agencies. Between 2005 and 2009, he shifted from editing to being a producer, and found himself managing the production of TV spots and documentaries,

as well as the technical aspects of several TV shows. In 2009, Jean decided to return to Geneva, Switzerland to pursue his studies. He obtained a Master’s degree in Communications for International Organizations. After 2 documentaries shot in Benin,

he went to Ouarzazate, Morocco, for a Volunteer assignment. He worked as an instructor for the Cinema Institute of Morocco.His job consisted in overseeing teachers and students in their filming projects for the Institute, and more specifically in the "Production Management” component.

After one year as a communications and marketing director for LTS group in Casablanca, Jean became an audiovisual consultant.Since 2011, he has been a consultant and advocacy specialist for UNICEF, FAO, UNDP, Handicap International, Transparency International in Northern and Western Africa.

Beside his work as a director of educational movies for world organizations,Jean also works to build strong media capacities for youngsters, in the countries where he operates,

so that they can have access to audiovisual technologies. Jean supports children, students and teenagers to express themselves and improve their creativity. Enthusiastic while working with DSLR cameras, he takes part in spreading the use of this medium, especially in the Maghreb region.
