R,E [H] 4.2 CTI STD WMS-112 procedures minimize the leaching of treatment chemicals.

E [H] 5.10 Drift from cooling tower contains chemicals which can deposit locally causing corrosion. Otherspecialized concerns are fogging and freezing of water droplets escaping from tower. Lower levels can beobtained with attendant high costs.

M,S [H] 5.14 Minimum fan stack height is to protect personnel on fan deck from reaching over top of fan.

S,O [H] 5.18 Vent on return piping required to prevent surge due to heat exchanger tube failure of high pressurehydrocarbon causing return piping rupture. Two instances at Syncrude Refinery resulted in extensivedamage and fire.

M,S [H] 5.21 Required egress from fan deck in emergency situations.

    R,S[H]

5.25 Guards are needed to prevent the typically long driveshafts provided for cooling tower fans from flyingand to prevent against coupling failure.

R,S [H] 5.28 Vibration monitor to avoid catastrophic damage caused by 20+ ft fan blades restrained only by fiberglassfan stack. Alternative for monitoring system in lieu of switch provided.

R,S [H] 5.30 Note to highlight exposure requirements for electrical equipment.
