Concept: MovementThe intersection is constantly

moving.It is also a very urban area, with few pedestrians, and many commercial

destinations.

Design Proposal:A translucent polymer to allow

lighting, as well as a free-formability in order to emphasize movement.

ApplicationConcept: Blood Flow

Thinking of the city and its streets as a whole, the idea of blood cells moving through veins in the body can be compared.

A large fundamental difference with this is, however, that the circulatory system of the body does not intersect, but actually loops.

Design Proposal:To be included in a translucent polymer

design, tunnels can be designed with undulating sides for pedestrians to walk through and be safe from traffic.

ExposureConcept: Structural Emphasis

Existing under-bridge support consists of large girders and lateral cross-bracing, exposed mechanical conduit, minimal lighting, steel decking, and concrete columns. The existing design can be utilized and accentuated with strategic lighting.

Design Proposal:A variety of lighting options,

including changes in color, intensity and direction, in order to enhance the design potential that is already there.

Concept: Connection. Emphasis is placed on nodes (points), areas, paths. A study analyzing the aforementioned spaces has been conducted in attempts to realize the relationships that exist between them. The rewards from completing such a study may unfold prospective design possibilities, or generate more richly developed key concepts for further extrapolation.

Design Proposal: A direct offshoot of the study diagrams is a proposed bridge that analyzes the connections previously uncovered and attempts to organize these connections in a way that indulges all using parties involved.
