THE WAY
Today we sense the apostles’ trepida on as they begin to realize that the Lord would soon be leaving them. In their fear, they ask, “Master, we do not know where you are going; how can we know the way?” (John 14:5). Jesus tells them that he is the way. The Easter season has been a
me of growing in Easter faith so that we, too, may learn to know that Jesus is the way. We can take comfort in the Lord’s promise that he is going to his Father’s house to prepare a place for us, his chosen people who have been called out of darkness into God’s wonderful light. As the paschal candle con nues to burn during this holy season, let us remember that in bap sm we were given the light of Christ. With Christ our light as the beacon ligh ng our way, let us march toward the glory of Pentecost.
EL CAMINO
Hoy sen mos la perturbación de los apóstoles cuando em-piezan a darse cuenta de que el Señor pronto los dejará. Temerosos preguntan: "Señor, no sabemos a dónde vas ¿cómo podemos saber el camino?" (Juan 14:5). Jesús les dice que él es el camino. El empo de Pascua ha sido un
empo para crecer en la fe pascual para que, así también, nosotros podamos darnos cuenta de que Jesús es el ca-mino. Nos consuela la promesa del Señor de que va a la casa de su Padre a preparar un lugar para nosotros, su pueblo elegido que ha sido llamado de las nieblas a la luz admirable de Dios. Mientras el cirio pascual con núa ar-diendo en este empo santo, recordemos que en nuestro bau smo nos dieron la luz de Cristo. Con Cristo, nuestra luz como faro iluminando nuestro camino, marchemos hacia la gloria de Pentecostés.

Founded in 1995 by two Jesuit priests, the Ignatian Volunteer Corps offers men and women, age 50 and older, the opportunity to engage in direct, hands-on service with the materially poor while growing in their Christian faith through personal and shared reflection.
IVC members commit to 600 hours of service per year (2 days/week, Sept.-June) and participate in a comprehensive spiritual formation program in the Jesuit tradition including monthly community meetings, individual spiritual reflection, and retreat experiences. Currently, 60 IVC Chicago members are serving throughout Cook, Lake and DuPage counties in a wide variety of volunteer settings.
