with Sacred Heart Mission’s Angel Tree

Project. The Angel Tree is full of angels,

children of parents needing help in

providing Christmas gifts for Christmas.

We ask you to take an angel, buy a gift

based on the information written on the angel, wrap the

gift(s) and don’t forget to write the angel #. If there is

more than one package, please place all in a large bag

marked with the angel number.

All angel gifts should be returned to the Angel Tree by

Sunday, December 8th.

el # de ángel y déjelo de regreso bajo el árbol. Si tiene más

de un paquete, colóquelos todos en una bolsa grande y

help to keep it picked up and cleaned after the

Masses.

Please take a few minutes after the Mass has

ended to straighten the books and check the area for trash.

No food or drink inside! This is our home and should

always be clean and welcoming including our bathrooms!

We will need children in preschool to 8th grade to help with the Gospel dramatization at the 4:00 pm family Mass. We also need ushers, EMs, lectors, altar servers, ribbons, and more. Please let us know when you will be attending Mass.

LLAMADO A LA SANTIDAD

118. La humildad solamente puede arraigarse en el corazón a

través de las humillaciones. Sin ellas no hay humildad ni

santidad. Si tú no eres capaz de soportar y ofrecer algunas

humillaciones no eres humilde y no estás en el camino de la

santidad. La santidad que Dios regala a su Iglesia viene a través

de la humillación de su Hijo, ése es el camino. La humillación

te lleva a asemejarte a Jesús, es parte ineludible de la imitación

de Jesucristo: «Cristo padeció por vosotros, dejándoos un

ejemplo para que sigáis sus huellas» (1 P 2,21). Él a su vez

expresa la humildad del Padre, que se humilla para caminar con

su pueblo, que soporta sus infidelidades y murmuraciones (cf.

Ex 34,6-9; Sb 11,23-12,2; Lc 6,36). Por esta razón los

Apóstoles, después de la humillación, «salieron del Sanedrín

dichosos de haber sido considerados dignos de padecer por el

nombre de Jesús» (Hch 5,41).

119. No me refiero solo a las situaciones crudas de martirio,

sino a las humillaciones cotidianas de aquellos que callan para

salvar a su familia, o evitan hablar bien de sí mismos y

prefieren exaltar a otros en lugar de gloriarse, eligen las tareas

menos brillantes, e incluso a veces prefieren soportar algo

injusto para ofrecerlo al Señor: «En cambio, que aguantéis

cuando sufrís por hacer el bien, eso es una gracia de parte de

Dios» (1 P 2,20). No es caminar con la cabeza baja, hablar

poco o escapar de la sociedad. A veces, precisamente porque

está liberado del egocentrismo, alguien puede atreverse a

discutir amablemente, a reclamar justicia o a defender a los

débiles ante los poderosos, aunque eso le traiga consecuencias

negativas para su imagen.

A CALL TO HOLINESS

118. Humility can only take root in the heart through

humiliations. Without them, there is no humility or holiness. If

you are unable to suffer and offer up a few humiliations, you

are not humble and you are not on the path to holiness. The

holiness that God bestows on his Church comes through the

humiliation of his Son. He is the way. Humiliation makes you

resemble Jesus; it is an unavoidable aspect of the imitation of

Christ. For “Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, so

that you might follow in his steps” (1 Pet 2:21). In turn, he

reveals the humility of the Father, who condescends to journey

with his people, enduring their infidelities and complaints (cf.

Ex 34:6-9; Wis 11:23-12:2; Lk 6:36). For this reason, the Apostles,

after suffering humiliation, rejoiced “that they were counted

worthy to suffer dishonor for [Jesus’] name” (Acts 5:41).

119. Here I am not speaking only about stark situations of

martyrdom, but about the daily humiliations of those who keep

silent to save their families, who prefer to praise others rather

than boast about themselves, or who choose the less welcome

tasks, at times even choosing to bear an injustice so as to offer it

to the Lord. “If when you do right and suffer for it, you have

God’s approval” (1 Pet 2:20). This does not mean walking

around with eyes lowered, not saying a word and fleeing the

company of others. At times, precisely because someone is free

of selfishness, he or she can dare to disagree gently, to demand

justice or to defend the weak before the powerful, even if it

may harm his or her reputation.
