R Warning light Y coming on whendriving

If the warning light Y turns on, thismeans that the system is running a self-test (such as following a voltage drop).

If the issue persists, contact the FiatDealership.

    SYMBOLS

Special coloured labels have been attachednear or actually on some of the compo-nents of your car. These labels bear sym-bols that remind you of the precautionsto be taken as regards that particular com-ponent.

The inner surface of the engine bonnet in-cludes a label with the different symbolsused.

    THE FIAT CODE SYSTEM

This is an electrical engine locking systemwhich increases protection from attempt-ed theft of the car. It is automatically acti-vated when the ignition key is extracted.

Each time the car is started turning the ig-nition key to MAR, the Fiat CODE systemcontrol unit sends a recognition code tothe engine control unit to deactivate the in-hibitor.

If, during ignition, the code is not correctlyrecognized, the light Y lights up on theinstrument panel.

In this case, turn the key to STOP andthen back to MAR; try with the otherkeys provided if the problem persists. Ifyou still cannot start the engine contactthe Fiat Dealership.

IMPORTANT Each key has its own codewhich must be stored by the system ECU.Contact the Fiat Dealership to have newkeys (up to eight) stored with the code.

The electronic componentsinside the key may be dam-aged if the key is submitted tosharp knocks.

RWINDOW WASHINGThe right stalk fig. 34 controls windscreenwiper/washer and heated rear windowwiper/washer operation.

    WINDSCREEN WASHER/WIPER

The device can work only when the igni-tion key is on MAR.

The stalk has 5 different positions (4speeds):

    A windscreen wiper off.

    B intermittent.

    C continuous slow.

    D continuous fast.

    E temporary fast (unstable position).

The temporary fast function lasts as longas you manually keep the stalk in that po-sition. When released, the stalk will returnto position A and the wiper will be auto-matically stopped.

Smart washing functionPull the stalk towards the steering wheel(unstable position) to operate the wind-screen washer jet.Keep the stalk pulled to activate with a sin-gle movement the windscreen washer jetand the windscreen wiper; the latter au-tomatically turns on if you keep the stalkpulled for over half a second. The wind-screen wiper stops operating a fewstrokes after releasing the stalk; a furthercleaning stroke, after a few seconds, completes the wiping operation.

    FOLLOW ME HOME DEVICE

This function allows the illumination of thespace in front of the car for a preset pe-riod of time.

    Activation

With the ignition key on STOP or re-moved, pull the stalk towards the steeringwheel within 2 minutes from when the en-gine is turned off.

At each movement of the stalk, the stay-ing on of the lights is extended by 30 sec-onds up to a maximum of 210 seconds;then the lights are switched off automati-cally.

Each time the stalk is operated, the warn-ing light 3 on the instrument panelturns on and the display shows how longthe function remains active.

The warning light turns on the first timethe stalk is operated, and stays on until thefunction is automatically deactivated. Eachtime you operate the lever, only the per-manence of lights increases.

    Deactivation

Keep the stalk pulled towards the steer-ing wheel for more than 2 seconds.

    F0S0117mfig. 34

Do not use the windscreenwiper to remove layers ofsnow or ice from the wind-screen. In such conditions, the

windscreen wiper may be subjected toexcessive stress and the motor protec-tion which prevents operation for a fewseconds may trip. If the issue persists, contact the Fiat Dealership.

R Ceiling light timing (centralposition of the lens)

Three different switch on modes are fore-seen:

    when opening one door, a three minutetiming is set;

    when removing the key from the igni-tion switch within two minutes fromengine switch off, a 10 second timingis set;

when doors are unlocked (either withremote control or with key on driverside door), a 10 second timing is set.

Three modes are foreseen for switch off:

    when closing all doors, a three minutetiming is set; The timing is disabled if thekey is moved to MAR;

when doors are locked (either with re-mote control or with key on driver sidedoor), the ceiling light turns off.

the internal lights turn off after 15 min-utes to avoid battery drain

    BOOT LIGHT

For versions fitted with boot light, it will au-tomatically turn on when opening the tail-gate and it will turn off when closing it.

    CEILING LIGHTS

    FRONT CEILING LIGHT

The lens can be set to three positions:

right side pressed: light always on left side pressed: light always off central position (neutral): the light turns

on and off when the doors are openedor closed.

IMPORTANT Before getting out of thecar, make sure the switch is on the cen-tral position: ensure that lights are off withdoors closed in order to avoid drainingthe battery.

On same versions, light switch on and offoccur only when the front driver side dooris opened or closed.

When the doors are unlocked using the re-mote control, a 10 second timing turns on.

When the doors are locked using the re-mote control, the ceiling light turns off.

    REAR WINDOW WIPER/REAR WINDOW WASHER

The device can work only when the igni-tion key is on MAR.

Turn the knurled ring to ' to operatethe rear window wiper.

With the windscreen wiper active, rotatethe knurled ring to ' to activate the rearwindow wiper which, in this case, oper-ates (in the different positions) in synchwith the windscreen wiper, yet with halfits frequency. With windscreen wiper ac-tive, engaging reverse gear, the rear win-dow wiper automatically turns on in slowcontinuous mode.

It stops when the reverse gear is disen-gaged.

    Smart washing function

Pushing the stalk towards the dashboard(unstable position) will activate the rearwindow washer.

Keep the stalk pushed to activate with asingle movement the rear window wash-er jet and the rear window wiper; the lat-ter automatically turns on if you keep thestalk pushed for over half a second.

The rear window wiper stops operatinga few strokes after releasing the stalk; afurther cleaning stroke, after a few sec-onds, completes the wiping operation.

Do not use the rear windowwiper to remove layers ofsnow or ice from the rear win-dow. In such conditions, the

rear window wiper may be subjected toexcessive stress and the motor protec-tion which prevents operation for a fewseconds may trip. If the issue persists, contact the Fiat Dealership.
