Social entrepreneurs are individuals with innovative solutions to society’s most pressing social problems. From its regional office in Cairo, Ashoka Arab World creates a competitive, entrepreneurial, and globally integrated citizen sector and develops the profession of social entrepreneurship. Ashoka currently works with 75 Ashoka Fellows located in Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. Fellowship: once a Social Entrepreneur is elected as part of the Ashoka Fellowship, Fellows enter a borderless community of creativity and collective action. Connected through Ashoka’s Fellowship work and by shared identity, values, goals, and approaches to social change, Ashoka Fellows seek support, ideas, inspiration, and motivation from their peers locally and globally. Ashoka supports its Fellows collaborative work so Ashoka Fellows can achieve results more powerful than what they could accomplish on their own, including new initiatives, publicity, or theoretical concepts that will guide their respective fields and advance the citizen sector. Position Title: Fellowship Intern Reports To: Fellowship Assistant Employment: Full time Salary: Unpaid Office Hours: 9 am to 5 pm (unless assigned to stay later fulfilling work requirements) Working Days: Sunday through Thursday, with weekends on Friday and Saturday. Work- related obligations sometimes require weekend attendance. Duties and responsibilities: Main Activities: The Fellowship Program intern will be part of Fellowship Team to conduct the following activities: § Provide support to Ashoka Fellows in the Arab World:

− Monitor progress and performance of Ashoka Fellows using Ashoka Arab World’s Monitoring and Evaluation System.

− Map training providers and consultants who can provide trainings to Fellows.

− Reach out to training providers and consultants to assist Fellows.

− Coordinate capacity building workshops for Ashoka Fellows.

− Conduct field visits to Ashoka Fellows and create visit reports.

− Organise Ashoka Fellows Salons/meetings.

− Write minutes and reports on Fellows meetings.

− Keep track of the services provided to Fellows.

§ Ashoka Arab World Impact Assessment Study

− Follow up on Fellows to fill in the Impact Assessment Survey.

− Create a simple tool that allows the data collected from Fellows to be regularly updated.

− Analyse all data collected from Impact Assessment Survey and Monitoring & Evaluation system.

§ Increase media coverage for Ashoka Fellows:

− Provide content for Ashoka’s bi-monthly Fellowship newsletter in Arabic.

− Create updated profiles about Ashoka Arab World Fellows, including recent achievements and news.

− Keep track of awards received by Fellows and media exposure opportunities for the Fellows.

AAW Internship Terms:

§ Internships are unpaid. § Work related expenses are covered. § We are based in Manial, Cairo, Egypt. § Our working week is Sunday through Thursday from 9 AM - 5 PM. § We accept interns on a rolling basis throughout the year. § We offer internships for a minimum duration of 4 weeks, full time; other internships

could be long term in the summer, spring and fall. § Internships are available across AAW programs. § Interns are requested to bring their own laptop.

Internship Benefits:

Interns are offered a first class immersion in the Social Entrepreneurship space in Egypt, being exposed and connected to the world’s leading social innovators and getting involved with a team fully committed to positive social changemaking.

Interns are treated like staff members and have similar responsibilities. Interns have the opportunity to attend all our meetings, conferences, events and share by their insights, ideas and efforts in all our office operations, procedures and programs.

Qualifications: 1. Education B.A. in a relevant field, preferably Social Sciences, Business, Management, Economics, or Political Science 2. Language Fluency in written and spoken English and Arabic is a must. 3. Experience and Requirements: · Excellent English writing and editing skills (required) · Good Arabic writing and editing skills (required) · Good communication skills · Interested in grass root social development projects · Strong result-oriented attitude · Proficient in MS Office programs (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)

4. The Person: · Must be creative within her/his scope of work and very resourceful in problem solving · Must understand Ashoka’s vision and work. · Must demonstrate her/his commitment with social change. · Must be a deeply trustworthy person. · Must be service-oriented and flexible. · Must be detail-oriented and able to manage multiple high-priority tasks at once. · Must be a team player with a high level of commitment.

· Must maintain cooperative working relationships and interact with others in a helpful,

courteous and friendly manner. · Must demonstrate sensitivity to, and respect for, a diverse population and be able to

work with persons of different cultural and ethnic backgrounds across all areas of the world.
