Ten Times Big Idea: Lead the children in a series of 10 different movements (jumping jacks, hopping on one foot, clapping hands, etc.) What You Need: No supplies needed What You Do: During the activity: Call out actions for the children to do. Each time you call out an action, count to 10 together as you do each action 10 times. Repeat actions and continue playing as long as the children are having fun. (Suggestions: Hop on two feet, hop on one foot, jumping jack, turn around, take ten steps back, take ten steps forward, pat legs, clap hands, touch the ground, pat head, etc.) What You Say: During the activity: “I want everyone to come stand in front of me. Before we play our game, I want us to all count to 10 together. Ready? (Count to 10.) Perfect! Okay, we’re ready to play! When I call out an action, I want us to do it together 10 times. We can count out loud together while we do it. Okay, the first action is to jump 10 times! (Jump 10 times while counting to 10.) Yay! Now clap your hands 10 times! (Continue in this way as long as you wish to play the game.) At the end of the activity: “Whew! That was fun! Our Bible lesson today was about 10 men who needed Jesus to help them. How many men needed Jesus? (Pause) Yes! Count with me one more time!” (Count to 10.)

Red Spot Parachute Big Idea: Play with the parachute and ten red plastic balls. What You Need: Music player and fun music, 10 red plastic balls and the parachute

What You Do: Before the activity: Lay out the parachute and have the children gather around it and pick it up. Make sure every child is holding a portion of the parachute. During the activity: Toss the balls into the middle of the parachute while the children are holding it. Instruct the children to bring their arms up and down to make the parachute bounce the balls while the music is playing (making sure not to drop any of the balls). When the music stops, have the children Shout, ‘I need Jesus,’ and take one ball away. Continue until all the balls have been removed.

At the end of the activity: Talk about how we started with 10 balls (spots) like the 10 sick men, and each time the music stopped, we said, ‘I need Jesus,’ until there were no more spots, just like the sick men. The 10 men asked Jesus for help and He helped them. What You Say: Before the activity: “Look at all theses spots on the parachute! Let’s count them. (Count each spot out loud.) 10 spots—just like the 10 sick men in our Bible lesson. I’m going to start some music. When the music stops, I want you to stand real still and stop shaking the parachute.” During the activity: “Are you ready? (Pause.) (Start the music.) Shake the parachute but make sure we keep all 10 spots on the parachute. (Pause the music.) Stop shaking the parachute. Now shout out with me: I need Jesus! (Repeat.) Super job! Let’s take one spot away. (Remove one of the spots and start the music again.) Shake Shake Shake. (Continue until all the spots have been removed.) Wow! Look! We shook and shouted 10 different times until all the spots were taken away.” At the end of the activity: “There were 10 sick men who asked Jesus for help and He helped them! Jesus healed all their spots! Just like the sick men needed Jesus, you and I need Jesus, too! Who is there when you need Him? Jesus is there when I need Him!”

Walk the Dots Memory Verse Big Idea: Children will walk from dot to dot while the music is playing and freeze when the music is stopped and say their memory verse. What You Need: Red cardstock circles, floor tape, preschool music CD and CD player

What You Do: Before the Activity: Tape the circles in a pathway in the activity area. Place them about two feet apart, so that the children can step from dot-to-dot. During the Activity: Start the music and ask the children to start to walk from dot to dot. As the children are walking, turn off the music and ask the children to “freeze.” Have the children say their memory verse and then remove one of the dots and turn the music back on. Have the children resume walking the dots and turn off the music again. Again, ask the children to “freeze”, say their memory verse and remove another dot. Keep going with the activity until all of the dots are gone. What You Say: Before the Activity: “Look at all of the dots on the floor. When I turn on the music, step from dot to dot. When the music stops, everyone FREEZE! Are you ready?” During the Activity: (Start activity and turn the music off the first time.) “FREEZE! Okay, let’s all say our verse together and I am going to take up one of the dots. When the music starts again, keep walking on the dots. (Continue to do so until all of the dots are gone.) Oh, look! All of the dots are gone! This reminds me of our lesson today! Jesus made all of the boo-boos on the men go away!” After the Activity: “Jesus made the men in our story feel better so they could go back to their families. Just like He gave them what they needed, Jesus gives us what we need too! Who is there when you need Him? Jesus is there when I need Him!”

Stick It to the Leader Big Idea: Children will place red dot stickers all over their volunteer leader. What You Need: Red dot stickers What You Do: Before the activity: Give each child a small sheet of stickers. Sit or kneel in the middle of the play area with the children around you. During the activity: Encourage the children to place their stickers all over you. At the end of the activity: Tell the children that the stickers look like boo-boos and review the lesson. What You Say: Before the activity: “I love stickers! I like to wear them. Will you help me put on as many stickers as we can get on me?” During the activity: (Hand out stickers.) “Here are your stickers. Let’s see if I can wear them all!” At the end of the activity: “WOW! Look at all of the stickers that I am wearing! With all of the red dots, it looks like I have many, many boo-boos! That is really funny because our lesson today was about 10 men who really DID have many, many boo-boos! I bet they really needed help! Do you remember who helped them? (Pause) Yes! Jesus helped them and He can help you and I too! Who is there when you need Him? Jesus is there when I need Him!”

Wipe Away Big Idea: Children will place boo-boos all over their activity page and then wipe them away with a kleenex. What You Need: “Man” Activity Pages in clear sheet protectors, Kleenex tissues and dry erasers What You Do: During the activity: Give each child a copy of the “Man” activity page, a dry erase marker, and a tissue. While you retell the Bible lesson, they will put “boo-boos” on the man. What You Say: During the activity: “Our Bible lesson today was about 10 men who needed Jesus to help them. Do you remember why they needed Jesus? (Pause.) Yes! They had boo-boos all over their bodies and they wouldn’t go away! I gave each of you a man picture and a marker. I want you to draw boo-boos all over his body. (Pause for children to draw.) “I see a lot of boo-boos! Now, when the 10 men saw Jesus, they asked Him for help. They knew they needed Jesus to make all of their boo-boos go away. And that’s just what Jesus did! He made all of their boo-boos go away. Now I want you to use this Kleenex tissue to wipe away the boo-boos. (Demonstrate.) There! All better! Let’s do that again!” (Continue to draw boo boos and wipe them away as many times as the children want. Repeat the phrases, “The men needed Jesus,” “They asked Jesus for help,” and “Jesus made their boo-boos go away!”) At the end of the activity: “Do you know we can ask Jesus for help just like the men did in our Bible lesson? (Pause.) It’s true! We need Jesus, too, and He’s always there to help us. Who is there when you need Him? Jesus is there when I need Him!”

Heal the Heart What You Need: “Heart” Activity Pages, several boxes of children’s Band-Aids, crayons and/or markers What You Do: Before the activity: Remove the wrappers from the Band-Aids®. (Be sure not to remove the covers to the adhesive part of the Band-Aids.) During the activity: Give each child a heart and 3-5 Band-Aids®. After the children have colored their pictures, encourage them to stick the Band-Aids® to their hearts. At the end of the activity: Ask the children for help in picking up and disposing of the adhesive covers. What You Say: Before the activity: “Do you remember our memory verse for this month? (Pause.) Great! Let’s say it together! ‘You are everything I need,’ Psalm 119:57. Awesome job! Our verse is written on this heart. It says (point to the words as you read), ‘You are everything I need,’ Psalm 119:57.” During the activity: “Jesus gives us everything we need and He helps us. That is what our verse is telling us. Let’s decorate the heart with Band-Aids®! That way when we are practicing the verse at home, we will be reminded about how Jesus helped the men with sores on their bodies in our lesson today!” (Hand out hearts and allow the children to work.) At the end of the activity: “Great job! Now can you all be good helpers and help me pick up the little pieces of paper from the Band-Aids®? (Pause.) Thank you so much! You are such wonderful helpers. We all need help sometimes. Jesus is always there to help! He is everything that we need, just like our verse says! Let’s say it again together! ‘You are everything I need,’ Psalm 119:57. AGAIN! ‘You are everything I need,’ Psalm 119:57. Awesome! Who is there when you need Him? Jesus is there when I need Him!”

Craft Stick Man

What You Need: Cut-out person, jumbo craft sticks, packing tape, red dot stickers, BAND-AIDs, “Lepers Story Label”

What You Do: Before the Activity: Place a craft stick man, craft stick, red dot stickers, a label, and a BAND-AID at each child’s seat. Assist children in taping the cut-out person to the craft stick.

During the Activity: Talk about the men who met Jesus that were sick with boo-boos. Ask the children to place all their red dot stickers on ONE side of the craft stick man. Then ask them to flip their craft stick man over to the opposite side and place the BAND-AID on one end and the “Leper Story Label” on the other.

What You Say: During the Activity: “In our Bible lesson today, we learned about some men who were very sick. They had a lot of boo-boos. Let’s put these red dots on one side of our craft stick men to show the boo-boos. (Pause and help children that need assistance.) Great job! Who helped the sick men in our lesson today? (Pause.) Yes! Jesus helped them. Let’s turn our craft stick men over and place the BAND-AID on one end and the label on the other end.” (Demonstrate.)

After the Activity: “Your craft stick men look awesome! Great job, everyone! You can take these home and tell your mom or dad or grandma or brother or sister about what we learned today. Jesus was there to help the men who had boo-boos. And Jesus is there when we need Him too! Who is there when you need Him? Jesus is there when I need Him.”

Small Group Time

What you Need: Parent Take Home Card, Playdoh, People Cookie Cutters, Rolling Pins, and Sticker Roll SMALL GROUP LEADER (SGL): “In today’s lesson, we learned that we can ask Jesus for help. Remember the men with all the boo-boos in our lesson? No one else wanted to help them. The people thought their boo-boos were yucky and they were scared to get close to them. But guess who wanted to help them. (Pause.) That’s right! Jesus! Jesus wanted the men to ask Him for help. And Jesus wants you to ask Him for help too! Jesus is there when we need Him and there’s no problem too big or too little for Him. Who is there when you need Him? Jesus is there when I need Him!” SGL: Look at these cookie cutters. They are people cookie cutters! Let’s make ten friends out of Play-Doh. Flatten out your Play-Doh. (Pause.) Now push down the cookie cutter. (Pause.) Look at that! You made a friend! Can we make ten friends altogether? (Once ten friends have been made, count to ten together.) Let’s count our friends. One, two, three, four, etc. Wonderful! (Give high fives.) Today we’re going to ask Jesus to help us with something. It can be anything! Jesus wants everyone to ask Him for help with anything, anytime they need it. So when I say your name, I want you to tell me one thing you want to ask Jesus to help you with and we can ask God to help us when we pray. “Ok, it’s time to review our lesson. I am going to ask you some questions and you will get a sticker for answering them. I have some really cool stickers today. Are you ready? (Pause.) Great! (Ask the children the questions from the “Parent Take Home Cards”. You can also make up additional questions from our video lesson. Don’t forget to ask them to say their memory verse for another sticker. You can repeat the same questions over and over as repetition is good for preschoolers.) You are such great listeners!” “Now I’ll pray before it’s time to say goodbye until next week. (Read the prayer on the back of the “Parent Take Home Card.”)”
