After a sluggish start in the semifinal match, the KingPins’

Jones, Weber and Norton also combined for a string of three

strikes to clinch a 211-162 victory over Kevin Hart’s

Philadelphia Hitmen. The KingPins got help from three Hitmen

open frames and they advanced to their second straight title

match.

In the opening match, consecutive strikes by Philadelphia’s

Mike DeVaney, Bill O’Neill and Mika Koivuniemi, combined

with back-to-back opens in the ninth and 10th frames by Jesse

Williams’ BROOKLYN STyLES were keys to the Hitmen’s 214-

176 victory. DeVaney got the Hitmen into the stepladder finals by

surviving the Clash eliminator round.

Matt Myers, at 13-years-old Fires

Triple Duce 656 in Youth Travel By Vince Albrecht

HACKENSACK, NJ - The Stan Niemiec league youth travelers were

at Bowler City this week where the conditions were somewhat chal-

lenging for them. Even so, 13-year-old Matt Myers was more than

content with his effort as he earned Bowler of the Week honors for his

triple deuce [208-237-211] 656, the afternoon’s best set, as Fair Lawn

took five points from Bowler City IV. Also contributing for the victors

were Tyler Nappi 193-184 and Hassan Izzard 194; BC IV benefited

from fine scores from Alijah Jackson 208-210, Nathan Tombo 183-178

and Caitlin Tombo 174.

The session’s high single was posted by Holiday I’s Graham Mulligan

268, but despite some help from Anastasia DeLeon 190-213, the team

managed just two points against Holiday II, which took the match

2521-2480. Joseph Malyack led the way for the winners with 222-228:

639 and Colette Malyack chipped in with 200: 585.

In the most competitive match of the day, Bowler City II and Boonton

battled through three nail-biters and when all was said and done,

Boonton came away with five points, edging BC II 2554-2543.

Boonton prevailed in the first two games, winning by a scant eleven

and eight pins respectively while BC II took the finale by a mere eight

sticks. Powering Boonton were Patrick Teshima 224-236, Karl

Kattermann 204-193, Brian McGrath 205 and Justin Puchalski 200;

leading BC II’s scoring were James Kane 235-225, Welmer Paguay

217 and Austin Bonacum 203-198.

Despite a lackluster performance, Bowler City I regained first place by

securing five points from the vacancy. The lone deuce for the league

leaders was Eric Grabusnik 210 while teammates’ Vinny Santoro 185-

179 and Matt Trento 180-179 registered the team’s other top games.

Kyle Ladewig 200 and Katie Didonato 191-175 propelled Montvale to

a 2568-2468 win over Bowler City III. One of young Michaella Raab’s

triple digit games was achieved with a tenth frame triple as she contin-

ues to show improvement. Bowler City III’s Nick Reyes bounced back

after two sub-par scores to pound out 241, the afternoon’s second best

single, as his squad salvaged two points by taking the finale, 931-903.

The final shootout was close the entire match. Rich bowled the tenth

frame first and struck out to shoot 233. Tony was next and he filled 19

pins in the final frame to also finish with a 233. Cynthia was last to

bowl knowing she needed a mark to win the title. She left a 7 pin on

her first ball and when she converted the spare she became the latest

LIGBT champion.

The tournament attracted a great crowd. The scoring was moderate as

Kegel’s 43 foot Dead Man’s Curve pattern was used. Cut scores to the

finals were 699 in the 1pm squad and 720 in the 3pm squad. The finals

paid out $3,600 to 21 finalists.
