Up, Up and Away!

One 4-H project you can learn about in the S.T.E.M. category is called Aerospace. Try exploring some different types of rockets and satellites by coloring them in different colors below!

CLOUD in a Jar

Have you ever wanted to reach into the sky and grab one of

those fluffy clouds?! Well now you can create your own!

Weather is actually very scientific, it’s all about having the

right combination of elements at once.

Directions

1. Start by pouring the hot water in to the

jar. Swirl it around a bit to warm up the

sides of the jar.

2. Turn the lid upside down and place it

on top of the jar. Place several ice cubes

onto the lid, and allow it to rest on top

of the jar for about 20 seconds.

3. Remove the lid and quickly spray a bit

of hairspray into the jar, then replace

the lid with the ice still on top of it.

4. Watch the cloud form!

5. Once you see some condensation in

your cloud start forming remove the lid

and let the cloud escape into the air!

A very important skill you will learn over and over is how to tell where you

are directionally - North, South, East or West of another thing. A compass is a

common tool to help you tell these directions. Using the compass below, see

Dino Line Up

STEM projects have a lot of strategy, and often find multiple

solutions to puzzles and problems! Cut out the Dinosaurs and

line them up in the grids below so that each Dinosaur has it’s

own line (both horizontally and vertically!). Diagonal lines are

okay! How many different ways can you find?
