SE Newport Way Pedestrian and Bicycle Improvement ProjectTo improve safety for people walking and bicycling along SE Newport Way between Somerset Boulevard SE and 150th Avenue SE, the Bellevue Transportation Department plans to:

ρ Build a 10-foot wide multipurpose path on the northside of SE Newport Way and a 5-foot bicycle lane on the southside from Somerset Boulevard SE to 150th Avenue SE.

ρ Build a 6-foot sidewalk on the southside of SE Newport Way between South Bellevue Community Center and 150th Avenue SE.

ρ Install a new flashing beacon crosswalk at the entrance to Eastgate Park/South Bellevue Community Center.

ρ Build multiple new retaining walls and replace guardrail sections to accommodate roadway improvements.

Planning Design Construction

What to expectConstruction is expected to begin in early spring 2020 and be complete by fall 2021.

ρ Work hours: Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Limited weekend work is expected for the installation of a large stormwater detention vault.

ρ Lane closures: Eastbound traffic on SE Newport Way will be detoured to SE Allen Road throughout construction.

ρ Detour: Detour routes are shown on the map. Limited pedestrian access will be available during construction; however, pedestrians and bicyclists are encouraged to use SE Allen Road.

ρ Traffic control: Flaggers, located at 150th Avenue SE and SE Newport Way and at SE Newport Way and SE Allen Road, will assist with traffic control.

FundingFunding for the design and construction comes from the Capital Improvement Roadway Program. Estimated cost is $10.7 million.

Proyecto de mejora para peatones y ciclistas en la SE Newport WayCon el objetivo de mejorar la seguridad de los peatones y ciclistas que circulan a lo largo de la SE Newport Way, entre Somerset Boulevard SE y la 150th Avenue SE, el Departamento de Transporte de Bellevue (Bellevue Transportation Department) planea realizar lo siguiente:

Planning Design Construction
