February 2020
A Note from Your CYC…
Wow! Look at all of those events coming up
on the right (plus there’s more on page
four)...how awesome! I fully recognize that
nobody can do everything but I hope you’ll try
something different this spring. Maybe it was
even your New Years Resolution?
Whether it’s encouraging your 4-H’er to attend
an overnight camp with a friend or learning
something new in a different project area,
you’ll thank yourself later for stepping outside
your comfort zone. This is the time of year to
see what else 4-H has to offer. For instance,
in April intermediate members can travel to
the Omaha Zoo, see a behind-the-scenes tour
and spend the night in the Zoo!
Keep an eye out for experiences like this in
addition to upcoming project workshops in the
Newsletter and on our Facebook page.
Try it this Spring! Amanda Rau
County Youth/4-H Coordinator

Dairy Goat Share-A-Kid Are you looking for a new and exciting way to
expand your 4-H experience? Interested in
showing an animal, but don’t know if you can
afford one of show quality?
Each year the Iowa Dairy Goat Association
promotes interest in dairy goats across our
state. One of the ways IDGA encourages
young people to explore this aspect of
agriculture is through their Share-A-Kid
program.
This statewide contest is open to youth in 4th
thru 12th grades and who are a member of
4-H, FFA, IDGA, or any other agricultural
group. Winning applicants are selected from
an essay they submit. The essay can include
drawings, photos or any other creative
touches. IDGA can only award one goat per
family per year; however, siblings are
encouraged to apply.
If you are interested in this opportunity visit
http://www.iowadairygoat.org/share-a-kid-
program/ for more details. Entries must be
postmarked by March 14.
