Middle School students taking a high school course will take both grade level STAAR and STAAR EOC, i.e. STAAR 8th Math and STAAR Algebra I
What does the law (HB 3) say?
The STAAR EOC assessment score will account for 15% of a student’s final grade in the course.
○…but how to apply to Semester 1, Semester 2, and final grade is a district decision
○…and “a relationship should exist” between the 15% EOC requirement and GPA / Class Rank
How will the final grade be distributed? 85% from teacher

EOC Retakes & Recalculation By law, EOC Retakes are allowed by the
student for any reason; however,BISD will recalculate EOC Retakes for final grade
posted on AAR only until the student earns course credit.
Highest EOC Retake score will be used for cumulative score after credit is earned.
EOC Retakes for Class Rank Beginning with 9th graders entering high school in
2013-2014, FIRST TIME EOC is scored with an “S code” by Pearson.
