Saint Theresa of the Child Jesus Roman Catholic Church, Hellertown, Pennsylvania
––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––
PRAYER TO
SAINT MICHAEL THE ARCHANGEL
Saint Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle,
be our protection against the
wickedness and snares of the Devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray,
and do thou,
O Prince of the Heavenly Hosts,
by the power of God,
cast into hell Satan,
and all the evil spirits,
who prowl about the world
seeking the ruin of souls.
Amen.

FEBRUARY 17, 2019 – SIXTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
– 2 – 0168
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
On February 22 the Church celebrates the Feast of the
Chair of Saint Peter. Christ proclaimed the Apostle
Simon to be “Peter”, which translates into English as
“rock”. Christ declared that it was on this “rock” that he would
build His Church. On this Feast we reflect on the leadership role
that was entrusted by Christ not only to Saint Peter, but to all his
successors, the Popes.
Saint Peter was chosen by Christ to be the guardian of the entire
Flock of Christ: to protect, defend, and guide it. All parents are
responsible for the spiritual, emotional, and physical welfare of
their children. The same is true for the Pope, our Holy Father.
Saint Peter shows the depth of his understanding of his role as a
servant of Christ in his exhortation to Bishops: “Tend the flock of
God in your midst not by constraint but willingly, as God would
have it, and not for shameful profit, but eagerly. Do not lord it over
those assigned to you, but be an example of humility to the flock.”
Saint Peter reminds himself and all Bishops that the flock
belongs to God, not to them. He reminded that their first and
foremost task is to love the flock. They are to lead, guide, teach
and protect the flock with great humility and compassion.
It is a daunting and awesome task which has been set before
the Pope and all Bishops. That is why at every Mass we pray for
Pope Francis and our Bishop Alfred Schlert, asking God to grant
them the grace they need to be good and faithful Shepherds of the
flock.
Through the Intercession of Our Lady of Fatima,
May the Peace of Christ be with You Always,
Father Tauber ––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––

Catholics throughout the Diocese of
Allentown are invited to attend small
group discussions, moderated by fellow
parishioners, and designed to encourage
reflection and conversation about the clergy abuse crisis. Healing
Our Church is a program from RENEW International, a Catholic
nonprofit organization. Bishop Alfred Schlert has called the
parish-based small-group discussions “an opportunity for all of us
to prayerfully reflect on scripture, on the abuse crisis, and on our
path forward as a Roman Catholic Family of Faith.” I like.
Various discussion topics will take place during the six weeks of
Lent at St. Theresa Parish on Thursdays at 7:00 PM in Friendship
Hall.
Sign-up/registration can be done by filling out the
form below and putting it in the collection basket or

Prayer is, for me, an outburst from the heart; it is a simple glance
darted upwards to Heaven; it is a cry of gratitude and of love in
the midst of trial as in the midst of joy! In a word, it is something
exalted, supernatural, which dilates the soul and unites it to God.
