MASS TIMES ST IGNATIUS Toowong: Weekdays 5.30pm every afternoon; Saturday 9.00am & 6.00pm (Vigil); Sunday 7.00am & 5.00pm. Reconciliation: Saturday after 9.00am Mass and from 5.15pm to 5.45pm, or by appointment. HOLY SPIRIT Auchenflower: Weekdays 9.00am Monday, Wednesday & Friday; Sunday 8.30am. Lent is not just a time to focus on sin and repentance but also a time to renew our faith in the one who alone can give us the discerning eye that truly knows what is sin and what is grace, what is life and what is death. It’s also a time to renew our faith in the family and to find ways of deepening the experience of family. Might one of the disciplines of Lent be a renewal of family prayer in a way that respects the rhythms of family life now? Another of those disciplines might be a renewed focus on the family meal, again respecting the rhythms and pressures of life at a time when it’s not always easy to gather the family around one table. I invite every family in the Archdiocese to think of how, through these days till Easter, you might pray together as a family and share a meal together as a family. These are simple things but they are moments of grace; and they would be a real contribution as the whole Church journeys along the road that leads from one session of the Synod to the next and along the road that leads from Ash Wednesday to Easter. ST IGNATIUS Toowong: Weekdays 5.30pm every afternoon; Saturday 9.00am & 6.00pm (Vigil); Sunday 7.00am & 5.00pm.

Reconciliation: Saturday after 9.00am Mass and from 5.15pm to 5.45pm, or by appointment. HOLY SPIRIT Auchenflower: Weekdays 9.00am Monday, Wednesday & Friday; Sunday 8.30am.

Lent is not just a time to focus on sin and

repentance but also a time to renew our faith

in the one who alone can give us the

discerning eye that truly knows what is sin

and what is grace, what is life and what is

death.

It’s also a time to renew our faith in the family and to find

ways of deepening the experience of family. Might one of the

disciplines of Lent be a renewal of family prayer in a way that

respects the rhythms of family life now? Another of those

disciplines might be a renewed focus on the family meal,

again respecting the rhythms and pressures of life at a time

when it’s not always easy to gather the family around one

table. I invite every family in the Archdiocese to think of how,

through these days till Easter, you might pray together as a

family and share a meal together as a family. These are

simple things but they are moments of grace; and they would

be a real contribution as the whole Church journeys along the

road that leads from one session of the Synod to the next and

along the road that leads from Ash Wednesday to Easter.

LITTLE KING’S MOVEMENT ANNUAL APPEAL THIS WEEKEND (14-15 February).

The Little King’s Movement for the Handicapped was founded in 1968 under the umbrella of the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary. It provides an opportunity for persons

with disability to access a social life, gatherings, and activities to help overcome loneliness and for them to enjoy the advantages of today’s world in company,

education and acceptance into a friendly atmosphere, all based on Christian values.

A special emphasis is placed on helping parents as well as the disabled with their personal, spiritual and social lives.

Although based on Catholic beliefs, it is ecumenical and all members and people with disabilities are welcomed.

The members of the Little King’s Movement commit themselves to bring people with disabilities a sense of worth, a sense of being valued and a sense of being loved.

There are no Government subsidies, and most activities are voluntary. ALL ACTIVITIES FOR OUR DISABLED FRIENDS ARE FREE OF CHARGE.

This is the major fundraiser for the year. In previous years this Parish has been very generous even in the most difficult financial times, for which L.K.M. is most grateful.

The L.K.M. Appeal envelopes are on church pews this weekend (place on collection plate).

OUR MISSION PRAYER

We, the St Ignatius community, are called to live the good news. We pray that we become the people that Jesus Christ called us to be. We pray that we know the Father, by the power of the Holy Spirit

through knowing Jesus in prayer, scripture and liturgy. We pray that we give hope to others by a practical, personal kindness, affirming each person's dignity, worth and destiny in Christ. May we live out this mission of our Christian vocation in the spirit of St. Ignatius.

• The only form of exercise I actually enjoy is chewing. • How important does a person have to be before they are

considered assassinated instead of just murdered? • Why does a round pizza come in a square box. • What disease did cured ham actually have? • Why are you IN a movie, but you’re ON tv? • Is there ever a day that mattresses are not on sale? • Why is it that whenever you attempt to catch something

that’s falling off the table you always manage to knock something else over?
