A HISTORIC EVENTThe Coconut Grove Arts Festival® (CGAF), held in February during Presidents’ Day weekend,

celebrates more than 58 years as a community icon that has commemorated the arts with millions of

people across the region and throughout the years. For more than a half century, CGAF has earned a

national reputation as a leading outdoor, fine arts exhibition held each winter in sunny South Florida.

58 YEARS IN THE MAKINGCoconut Grove has long been considered Miami’s original art district. In 1963, local theatre

maven Charlie Cinnamon asked a handful of locals to recreate an outdoor Parisian exhibition

as a publicity stunt for the Coconut Grove Playhouse’s production of Irma la Douce. Over 50

years later, the little clothesline arts fair is now known as CGAF ® one of the largest art

festivals in the nation.

A VISUAL ARTS MARATHONMore than 350 internationally-known artists bring their collections to Coconut

Grove each year. These diverse artist styles range across a spectrum of 13

categories including mixed media, painting, photography, digital art, printmaking &

drawing, watercolor, claywork, glass, fiber, jewelry & metalwork, sculpture, and

wood. There is even a category for new & emerging artists.

GUARANTEED QUALITY Committed to excellence, CGAF prides itself on a competitive

curatorial program. Artists are selected by a panel of collectors,

influencers and educators in the local arts community during a blind

jury process based solely on artistic merit. Only 30 percent of

applicants are selected to participate. In addition, CGAF boasts a

selective group of poster artists from previous years that include

such notable world favorites as Romero Britto, Clyde Butcher and

Guy Harvey.

DID YOU KNOWFOOD IS ART

Art doesn’t have to be displayed solely on a wall.

Inside the popular Culinary Arts Pavilion world-

renowned chefs create masterpieces of their own

as they prepare famous dishes and invite guests

to sample gourmet fares. Live cuisine

demonstrations serve as a perfect pairing to each

day’s activities and allow Festival-goers to meet

and learn from some of South Florida’s most

successful culinary artists.

PARTY IN THE PARKAdjacent to Biscayne Bay sits the lawn of

picturesque Peacock Park and one of CGAF’s

newest attractions. The CGAF Main Stage

hosts a Friday Night Kick-off Concert and

features three days of live entertainment, giving

visitors an added auditory bonus to their general

admission ticket. Featuring regional and national

headline acts, national touring favorites take to the

CGAF Main Stage for a community-wide bash.

EARLY ADOPTERSDedicated to inspiring the community at large,

CGAF hosts The CGAF Family Zone. A creative

hub, located in Regatta Park, which encourages

children to draw, paint, sculpt and design from a

youthful perspective. Complete with a kid’s

performance stage that will entertain the

family all day.

FAMILY FUNChildren of all ages can enjoy themselves by

integrating with the different physical activities

offered inside the CGAF Family Zone. Making it

one of South Florida’s true family-friendly events,

this recreational space inside CGAF is dedicated

to providing healthy, imaginative and outdoor

activities.

ART 365 DAYS A YEARCGAF maintains a multitude of highly visible

community-oriented programs throughout the year

through the Coconut Grove Arts and Historical

Association, producers of CGAF. Promoting

ongoing arts education in South Florida, the Arts

Festival hosts the highly visible and popular

Visiting Artists program where artists visit select

classrooms in Miami Dade County after the

Festival, mentor workshops, showcase

opportunities and high-end gallery receptions

outside of its three-day festival.

SCHOLARSHIPS&DEVELOPEMENTFor more than 20 years, CGAF has made an

annual commitment in cash scholarships to top

students at Miami-Dade County arts magnet

schools. Since 2013, CGAF has also presented

an annual scholarship to young, aspiring chefs at

the Miami Culinary Institute. Together with its

partners, CGAF continues to create a positive

impact in the community.
