Welcome

Prelude

Opening of the Word

Call to WorshipYour Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.

Opening Hymn: “Jerusalem, Arise”

Readings from the Word

Genesis 1:26-29 Matthew 6:24

Reading from the Heavenly Doctrines

Divine Providence 123It is the continual endeavour of the Divine Providence of the

Lord to unite man to Himself and Himself to man, and thatthis union is what is called reformation and regeneration, and

that man has salvation from it. Who does not see that conjunc-tion with God is life eternal and salvation? Everyone sees it

who believes that men are from creation images and likeness-

es of God, and who knows what an image and likeness of God

is. Now since God is One, and man from creation was made animage and likeness of Him, and since through infernal love

and its lusts and their delights he has come into the love of all

evils; and has thereby destroyed in himself the image andlikeness of God, it follows that it is the continual endeavour of

the Divine Providence of the Lord to unite man to Himself and Himself to man, and thus make man to be His image.

Congregational and Pastoral Prayer

The Lord’s Prayer Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy name.

Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done, on Earth as it is inHeaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive our sins,

as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial, and deliver us from evil. For Thine is the Kingdom, and

the Power, and the Glory, forever. Amen.

Hymn: Blessed City, Heavenly Salem

DoxologyTo Jesus Christ be glory given

By all on Earth and all in Heaven.Let His dominion wide extend.

His glorious Kingdom have no end.

Affirmation of Faith

We worship the One God, the Lord the Savior JesusChrist, Redeemer of the world, in whom is the Father, the Sonand the Holy Spirit; whose humanity is divine. He came into the

world and took our nature upon him. He endured temptation,

even to the Passion of the Cross. He overcame the hells, and sodelivered all. Without this, no mortal could have been saved;

and they are saved who believe in Him, and keep the command-ments of His Word. This is His commandment; that we love one

another, as he has loved us.
