TheFIGMTChasmadethefollowinginterpretationsandclarificationsregardingthe2017MAGCodeof Points at their March 2019 meeting in Lausanne (SUI). The information below responds tofrequently asked questions since their last meeting and is separated into two distinct sections;ClarificationsinCodeofPointsandnewelementssuccessfullyperformedsinceNewsletter#34.

I. Clarificationstothe2017-2020CodeofPoints

GeneralFIGFundedJudges(D&RatseniorWorldChampionships)

• Thesejudgesmustattendthejudges’instruction,podiumtraining,alljudges’briefingsforeveryphase,andallcompetitionphasesanddaysthroughtheendoftheevent.

JudgingUniforms• Judgesareremindedthattheyareexpectedtofollowtheuniformrequirementsasstatedinthe

CodeofPointsunderArticle5.1k

CompressionBandages• Gymnastmustrefrainfromwearingcompressionsleevesduringcompetition• PleasealsorefertoArticle2.3i,CompetitionAttireintheCodeofPoints.• Deductionforanattireviolationis–0.3(article2.4)

Note:ThesetypesofsleevescanbewornonthebicepareaforParallelBarsandforjointsupportonallapparatus.Inthesecondexample,thesleevemaynotextendmorethanhalfwaydowntheforearm(orknee)tobeconsideredasjointsupport.Fleshorskincolorispreferred.

Rings

RecognitionofSwallowversusSupportscale

• Therehavebeennumerousexamplesduringthiscyclewherethedifferentiationbetweenthesetwoelementshasbeenunclear.Inordertoprovideclarity;iftheshoulderiscompletelyabovethetopoftheRingstheelementwillberecognizedasasupportscale.

• SwallowistobeperformedwithperfectlystraightbodyandwiththebottomshouldersinlinewiththebottomoftheRings.Thearmsshouldbewideandnotincontactwiththeupperbody.

• SupportscaleshouldalsobeperformedwithaperfectlystraightbodyandwiththebodycompletelyabovethetopoftheRings.Thepositionofthearms,i.e.slightlywideorhandsturnedoutdoesnotdefinethevalueoftheelement.

• IfagymnastperformsaHonmatostraightbodysupportandthenraisetheirlegstoanL-sitpositiontheywillbededucted-0.3
