The incumbent will be required to assist in the achievement of FCCC’s corporate goals and objectives through the provision of its legal services. The Incumbent will be required to provide high quality legal services and advice to FCCC, contribute to project planning and risk management. The applicant will be responsible to effectively conduct and manage substantial and complex litigation and support the development of legal team through coaching and training on all aspects of legal counsel performance across projects, including research, communication, instructions and planning. The candidate should have a Law Degree from a reputable university with a current unrestricted practicing certificate and possess knowledge on commercial law and the business environment in which the law operates. Applicant should have at least 3 - 5 years of experience in the senior position with strong leadership, team development skills, excellent communication and people management abilities. Incumbent with a valid full group two (2) license will have an added advantage. This position will be based in our Head Office in Suva. The incumbent will be accountable to monitor trade & commerce in Fijian Market. The applicant will be responsible to enforce the provision of the Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission Act (FCCC Act 2010), by carrying out routine trader inspections, trader awareness, and supermarket surveillance, surveys to collect data, investigate complaints and handle day to day tasks as assigned. The incumbent will also assist with day to day rent market inspections and suggest strategies to improve overall trade compliance in the Fijian market. The applicant will be working closely with the Senior Monitoring Officer, Managers and Regional Managers to conduct all price control and monitoring activities that are part of the Strategic Goals of FCCC. The applicant with a Diploma or Degree in any business discipline with 2 - 3 years or above relevant experi- ence in the areas of price monitoring, handling of consumer complaints will be considered. Applicant with exceptional report writing skills and knowledge of FCCC Act 2010 and a valid full group two (2) driving license will be an advantage.This position will be based in our Northern Office. Senior Legal Officer (Ref No: 15/2019) – Re advertised The successful applicants will be accountable to assist the competition and compliance department to achieve its objectives. The applicants will be required to perform various general administrative duties such as attending to complaints, assessing and receiving of complaints, file creation, case registration, carrying out investigation and updating the complainant. The incumbent will also have to keep up to date with and understand, FCCC Act 2010, policies, and regulations of FCCC and Monitor compliance. Applicants with a Degree in Law with prerequisite in Economics, Accounting or Banking or any other field with a work experience of 2 - 3 years or above in the compliance field will be consider. Applicant with exceptional report writing skills and knowledge of FCCC Act 2010 and a valid full group two (2) driving license will be an advantage.
