Your Community Needs You...

Would you believe that there once was a safe space for our youth to meet after school and evenings? Sadly those days are now gone as local authorities have had their funding cut by the current UK government and sadly it was Warminster's turn to close the doors on it's youth services towards the end of 2014.

Our local authority now has tough decisions to make when it comes to how to spend the money in the pot. After the strong fight that was put up against the cuts from our youth, we now need to keep the momentum going, by encouraging our youth to use their confidence to co-ordinate their own youth committee to put their voices into proposals to the council for funding a project. The younger generation need to lead and run these meetings and become involved in shaping future events directly with Council representatives.

To ensure that your voice is heard and the activities on offer match what you want, become a part of the advisory team. All our youth community can be involved, from being a mentor, a volunteer to collecting donations, sharing your time, sourcing equipment and so on.

Local Pride Maintained

Kingdown travelled to Matravers School on a terribly cold winter’s day. After the Year 11 boys struggling to attend training the team proved their worth.

Kingdown started well with some intense pressure resulting in Chris Office avoiding the offside trap and heading head the first goal. Although, it took the Matravers goalkeeper to show some admirable sportsmanship to admit it crossed the line - goal line technology required?. Two more goals followed by Alex Watson and Luke Hardy. Matravers managed to score a well taken goal just before half time (3-1 to Kingdown).

The boys weren't playing as well as they could have been and listened well to Mr Richardson's tactical changes. With a better shape to the team, Luke Hardy finished the best move of the game with some excellent work by the front players. Chris Office and Will G-B got in on the action, resulting in Kingdown winning 6-1. Roll on Lavington next Tuesday. There were some outstanding performances but a joint man of the match went to Alex Watson and debutant Antony Dodds. Congratulations!
