We’ve chosen Vital Signs as our theme for summer camp 2016 so our days at camp will be lived out against a medical backdrop. In a medical setting, health care providers routinely watch, measure and monitor a patient’s vital signs. Vital signs reflect essential body functions: heartbeat, breathing rate, temperature, and blood pressure. All of these functions are necessary for life to continue.

The “essential” parts of camp – deep friendships, shared laughter, time spent in nature, experiential worship, team spirit, new adventures, Bible study & prayer – will be carefully monitored during each session! We do all of this as a reflection of what God has done for us.

We are proud of our group of counselors and the excellent care and attention they give to our campers! After going through an extensive screening process, including an annual background check, this exceptional group of young adults undergoes a week of training onsite to prepare them for the role of counselor.

Our camper/staff ratio meets, and in some cases exceeds, nationally recommended ratios, further ensuring the safety and well-being of our campers. When you drive out our gate after getting your child settled into his/her cabin, you can rest assured that they will be well cared for!

CAMP DIXIE SUMMER CAMP 2016

Super Kids’ Retreat Age 4-7 | June 10-11 | $50

An overnight retreat designed to introduce both parent and pre-camp aged child to the summer camp experience. One parent may attend the retreat with their child free of charge. Retreat begins on Friday at 6 pm and ends on Saturday at 3 pm.

Limited number of spaces available for campers from the local area who want to commute each day. Campers arrive before breakfast and leave after evening chapel.

Enrollment limited to 60 campers with hilltop lodging.

Kids’ Camps Every child should have a chance to experience a week of summer camp at Camp Dixie! Campers will make new friends and gain confidence as they experience camp life with their cabin group. Morning activities will include music, relay races, Bible stories, and hiking or canoeing. Afternoons are packed with recreational fun at the pool, lake, mini-golf and gym. Each day ends with an unforgettable time in evening chapel and entertainment. Session schedules and activities vary for age appropriateness.

Options!!! We are now offering some new options for campers entering Grades 4-6. *For example, a rising 4th grader may now attend Kids’ Camp #1 and/or Kids’ Camp #2! Campers entering grades 5-6 may attend either K2E & K2 or both! A $20 discount will be applied to the 2nd week of enrollment for campers attending a second session. Campers attending multiple sessions will check out of camp on Friday and re-enroll Sunday.

Teen Camps and OpportunitiesFor teens in middle and high school, camp is an incredibly fun and often life-changing place to have face-to-face conversations about the struggles they face in their lives and the questions they have about God and faith. Time with their cabin group will be balanced with time spent in activities on a co-ed team. Daily elective classes give teens the opportunity to connect with counselors in a special area of interest. Elective options will include a variety of sports and art classes taught by our counselors and designed to deepen relationships. The bonds of friendships grow strong through shared experiences as they laugh, compete, worship, ponder, hang-out and encounter God in new ways.

Counselor training program for teens.

Camp Dixie is a non-profit Christian camp and retreat center whose mission is to promote the Gospel of Christ through evangelism and discipleship in quality summer camps for youth and retreat programs for all ages and to provide a Christ-centered year-round retreat site. Our exciting programs, comfortable air-conditioned accommodations, delicious food, quality recreational facilities, and caring staff keep campers coming back year after year!

Camp Dixie has been a member of the Christian Camp and Conference Association since 1981.

Camp Dixie is a proud recipient of the 2015-16 Partners in Prevention Distinction, a nationally-recognized public standard to end child sexual abuse (CSA).

Camp Dixie, owned and operated by the Advent Christian Conference of Eastern North Carolina, is located between Fayetteville & Elizabethtown, North Carolina on Highway 87.

Important Information & Policies

Registration Office All cor-respondence and inquiries regarding registration should be directed to the address or phone number below. Reg-istration for weeks of camp sponsored by other organiza-tions later in the summer is handled directly through the sponsoring organization.

Camp Schedule Five-day sessions begin on Sunday af-ternoon at 3 p.m. and end on Friday afternoon at 3 p.m.

Forms Once you register your child via our online system, you will see a list of the ad-ditional forms we will need filled out for your child. You will be able to log in to your account to work on com-pleting these forms at your convenience. Save your work each time and return to it at any time. The only piece of paper you’ll need to provide to us will be a copy of the doctors physical, which you can scan and upload digitally if you prefer!

Camper Information Booklet You will receive an Info Book-let via email after the first of the year detailing our regis-tration, arrival and departure procedures for your children. It will also contain details of what to bring, and other im-portant information designed to prepare you and your child for the best possible Camp Dixie experience. The Info Booklet will also be available on our website by mid-

January. If you would prefer that we mail you a printed copy of the Info Booklet and necessary forms, simply let us know.

Grade/Age Bracket Campers must stay within the appro-priate grade bracket based on the grade entering in the fall of 2016. If a child has been held back in school, parents may choose between letting the child move up or keeping them in the grade bracket.

Military Discount Campers with a parent on active duty military are eligible for a 10% discount on their week of camp. Enter the code MIL in the discount code box on Step 2 of online registration. The discount will be applied pending verification of mili-tary status before check-in day.

Cabin Bunk Mate Campers may request one camper of the same gender on their application with whom they would like to room. Multiple choices will not always be feasible.

Inclusion of Campers with Special Needs Please go to the Summer Camp tab on our website where you will find a Special Needs Assessment Form. Fill it out and send it to us. Once it is received, our inclusion coordinator will con-tact you for more informa-tion to help us make sure we can meet the needs of your child in the camp setting. We need the forms in our office by April 15 so we can reserve the housing and staff support necessary to ensure a positive experience for your child. For returning campers with special needs, the Assessment Form must be filled out each year to respond appropriately to the needs of your child as they grow and mature.

Refunds/Cancellations The $30 deposit required to register your child for summer camp is non-refundable and non-transferable. If cancel-lation is necessary prior to camp, we will refund all but the $30 deposit. For Super Kids’ Retreat, $10 of the fee is non-refundable.

Our upgraded online registration is going to lessen the amount of paperwork for everyone! To begin the registration process, go to our website at www.campdixie.com and under the “summer camp” tab, click “online registration” then “register today!”

If your children have attended camp in previous years, sign in by using the email address that you put on your previous registrations, (even if you did not register online), then hit “password reset.” This will prompt you to create a new password for the new system. (This is the email address through which you receive emails from us concerning sum-mer camp.)

If you are a new camp family, you do not have an existing account, so you will need to create a new account.

Follow the detailed instructions at the top of each step to guide you in completing your registration. The new system will now recognize your child’s grade level and show you the sessions for which he or she is eligible. A $30 non-refundable deposit is required and can be made by credit or debit card, or pay by check*. If you prefer, you may make full payment or choose the pay deposit now and make equal monthly installments option to set-up automatic payments each month. You’ll also be given several add-on options: 1) order a cabin photo and 2) add bank money.

A confirmation screen will pop up to let you know that you’ve completed the registration process. You will receive an email with your invoice shortly after you register and each time you make a payment.

Convenient Online Options! • Pay by check* allows you to register online and mail us a check within a week of registering

• A 10% Military discount is available to campers with a parent on active duty. (Discount will be applied pending verification of military status before check-in day.)

When you log back in to make additional payments to your account via the online system, you will now be able to see your current invoice.
