Vocation Camp for young men: The Office of Voca- tions for the Diocese of Victoria is sponsoring a camp for young men who have completed 8th grade to 21 years of age. The camp will take place on July 3-6 at Cooper’s Farm near La Grange. The days will include many out- door camp activities as well as discussions on discerning God’s will in life. Priests and seminarians of the Diocese will facilitate the camp. Registration forms are available at the parish office. If you have any questions, please call Fr. Please pray that young men and women hear and respond generously to the Lord’s call to the priesthood, diaconate, religious life, societies of apostolic life or secular institutes. Construction News: Construction is progressing on our new Parish Activity Center . As you probably have noticed, the mechanical penthouse on the roof is being demolished. We had a four week delay because asbestos was discovered between two other materials. On Monday, the abatement and demolition re- sumed with an expected completion date of May 4. There are also plumbers working inside to install new roof drains and piping. Once demolition is com- plete and drains are in place, the new roof system will be installed. With much work and many revisions, the final plans are now complete. This means that the plans will soon be issued to all subcontractors and material suppli- ers to submit bids for working on our project. These bids will then be sorted and compiled so that we will know exactly what our final costs will be for the Parish Hall , meeting rooms, kitchen and the Emmaus Counseling Center . This is a very exciting time, and we know everyone has been waiting to see the project move forward. Committees have been working hard to be good stewards for our parish. Summer Fun Day – Inviting children (4 year olds – incoming 6th graders) to a fun-filled morning as they learn more about their faith through playing, music and art projects. Registration for this event will begin in May. The parish is offering this opportunity instead of Vacation Bible School which would have lasted the entire week. Watch the bulletin for more detailed information about this upcom-ing Summer Fun Day on Wednesday, June 22. For this special day to be a success and reach out to our young parishioners, we need adults to help with the various parts of the morning’s activities. Students in grades 7–12th are also welcome to get service hours by helping with the children. To volunteer or if you have any questions, please call the Religious Education Of-fice at 575-8132.

TIP TO HELP YOUR PRAYER LIFE

Try Different Types of Prayer – We all have dif-ferent tastes in prayer, just like most other things in life. So, try out different types of prayer and see which ones work for you. One caveat – don’t give up too soon on a type of prayer. It might take a good long time to discover whether it is good for you or not.

Parishioners, parish groups and others might want to check out the “Question of the Day” on the Disciples on the Journey’s web-site (www.disciplesonthejourney.org) to learn some interesting information about our faith. The site also includes a reflection on each of the year’s Sunday readings.

Family Connection Not only can we recognize family members' voices, we can also read the tone of their voices and know something about how they are feeling. In our relation-ship with Jesus, we know Jesus' voice and are called to follow. Jesus doesn't just bring us closer to the Fa-

ther, Jesus puts us directly into contact with God the Father, remov-ing all distance between us. In the Gospel of John, Jesus identifies so closely with the Father that he tells us that they are one—not just close, but actually one. Knowing Jesus means knowing the Father.

Read with your family today's Gospel, John 10:27-30. Ask your family members to talk about some ways that Jesus brings them closer to God and closer to one another. Pray together the Acts of Faith, Hope, and Love.

Act of Faith

O my God, I firmly believe that you are one God in three divine Persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. I believe that your divine Son became man and died for our sins, and that he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe these and all the truths which the holy Catholic Church teaches, because you have revealed them, who can neither deceive nor be deceived. Amen.

Act of Hope

O my God, relying on your infinite mercy and promises, I hope to obtain pardon of my sins, the help of your grace, and life everlast-ing, through the merits of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Redeemer. Amen.

Act of Love

O my God, I love you above all things with my whole heart and soul, because you are all good and worthy of all my love. I love my neighbor as myself for the love of you. I forgive all who have in-jured me and I ask pardon of those whom I have injured. Amen.

FOURTH SUNDAY OF EASTER

The Pope Speaks “Vocations are born in prayer and from prayer; only through prayer can they persevere and bear fruit.”

“Just as the Church exists to share God's self-giving and merciful love, so too the domestic

church, the family, is called to share God's self-giving and merciful love. Husbands and wives

know from experience how important it is to share God's love with each other and also with

their children. The family is a school of love, a school where-in young people learn how to give of themselves to others and where they learn how to be forgiven and to forgive in turn.”

~ Archbishop William E. Lori, Columbia Magazine, April 2016
