Cosmetics

Gray and beige decides to converge this season and a new name has been

invented for this convergence greige. This now existing and trendy color will be featured

in cosmetics such as nail lacquer, eye shadows, cheeks, and lips. High profile designers

such as Thakoon, Michael Kors, and Alexander Wang to name a few decided to use

greige in their runway season this fall. Run

way make up artists believes that this color

can create a stone face look for the models,

something that is new and exciting for this

fall.

This newly invented color is

interesting enough just to create such non

human faces, I think it is amazing how gray and beige can come together to create such a

color. Who would ever think that two dull colors can make it onto the runway. Greige is

a big hit and hopefully we will see some greige cosmetics on shelves at the stores soon.

The cosmetics industry should use this convergence as a heads up to put more colors

together and mix something magical.

Business Article

Chase Banks has been providing online banking as most banks are doing, but all of a

sudden the system was down and customers were furious. Chase customers had no

access to the bank online which made things more complicated, most importantly they

could not access their account to pay bills. It was said that there are more online banking

customers rather than regular customers that come in, although access was available at

Chase banks. They described the problem as “technical”.

I believe another situation like this occurred to Bank Of America not too long ago, but

was fixed quickly. Online banking nowadays is very common, more and more customers

prefer online because it’s convenient and faster, rather than going in waiting online, and

what not. Banks should have technicians available 24/7 so that if something like this

comes up it will be fixed faster, they should also send out notifications to customers as

quickly as possible so that customers know, in this situation customers did not know and

continued with online banking, which was not working and made things more difficult.

Vogue- Fashion Trend

Philip Lim has created a new trend on his fashion runway during Fashion Week in New

York. The Aviation jacket has come back as this year’s trend. The jacket is fitting yet

loose on the sides. Phillip Lim decided to bring back 1900’s fashion back to 2010, its

original, authentic, and has a touch of the 20th

century.

I think the aviation jacket is yet again another fad, it will be in this season and out

the next, I think this because its fall and of course any type of jacket will be a trend, but it

wont work for spring. It’s better for warmth not style.

Current Season- Fashion Observation

My observations for women’s apparel this season was based on celebrities, Chicago

street fashion, and seasonal changes. Looking through magazines, and watching

television I have seen that leggings are still going to be a trend this season celebrities

sports it with boots, dresses, skirts, and even wear it as it is. I have also seen men and

women wearing a lot of plaid whether its blouses, shirts, hats, or shoes the people still

love plaid because it’s casual and comfortable. I have also seen a lot of denim jackets

and vests paired with floral or maxi dresses. Boots will always be a must have during the

fall and winter seasons.

My 3 fashion predictions for the coming season:

Wool coats - a must have because during this cold season it will keep you warm

and have you look stylish at the same time

Lace – sexy and sophisticated, can be matched up or down with anything

Matte colors such as beige and gray

My predications were based on what I see a celebrity wearing because celebrities

always get what is going to be in style first from fashion runways

TV Show

After watching Gossip Girl, I have seen a lot of fashionable characters wearing

latest trends. Blake Lively who plays Serena was one of the notable fashionistas on the

show. One garment that I saw her wearing which I think will be a fashion trend this

season was fur. In the episode she was seen wearing a cover up fur vest, inside an orange

tank, and a blue skirt. I believe fur will be a must have trend this season is because it’s

warm, comfy, and light weight at the same time. It’s edgy, and it can go along way,

whether if you’re wearing fur boots, bag, hat or scarf. It’s a must have for this season.

I like this design because it’s different, the styling and design itself. It’s simple and

classy, and it can be worn multiple ways. I also like the flow of the shirt, and how

comfortable it looks.


Career Paths

Fashion Designer: Fashion designers create the styles of clothing, shoes and

accessories that are available for shoppers to purchase in retail stores. Fashion

designers study the current and future fashion trends, work with various colors

and fabrics, and create sketches of their ideas. The also book models, and attend

fittings and go sees so that the model that they choose advertised their designs

how they its suppose to look like in the best way on a model.

Buyer: Fashion Buyers are the personal shoppers for retail companies. A Fashion

Buyer most important job is to make sure that products on store shelves appeal

and attract customers. Buyers choose and order the products that are actually sold

in stores; their main responsibility is to find products that appeal to the company’s

target customers.

Stylist: This job requires long hours and the stylist is often traveling to locate

specific clothes and accessories for their clientele, the clientele list can range from

celebrities, magazines, or companies. The stylist's responsibilities often are

rearranging their client's closet and wardrobe by removing outdated clothes, and

looking for items that appeal to their client's body figure and personal style.

Model: A fashion models’ main responsibilities are to always be professional, on

time, respectful and polite during go sees or when on the job. A models job is to

make garments that they are displaying most beautiful as how the designer

pictures it.

High fashion models are often chosen for a runway show or photo shoot for their

distinct look or body type.


Fashion Don’ts

Mens’ Christmas sweater- These sweaters are a must don’t because holiday sweaters with

tacky prints, do not look right on men or women due to the tight fit, and holiday colors of

red, green and white.

Suspenders are no use, besides that it can keep your pants up from the elasticity fabric, I

believe if you want to keep your pants up use a belt. The band of the suspenders brings

bad attention to what you are wearing

Platform “stripper” heels are made for something else not everyday wear, it gives off a

trashy, and non-sophisticated look

Fur coats are horrible to wear and look at. Fur belongs on animals not humans. Women

don’t want to look like they are wearing their pet on their backs and shoulders


Career Opportunities

Working for a trademark brand, I would love to have the opportunity to work side

by side with a fashion designer and the brand. I think this would be a good fit for

me because a fashion designer has been through all the ups and downs in the

fashion industry, they know the business inside and out, that way I can find a way

to work for that designer and company doing marketing of some sort. I appreciate

learning from people in this industry. Hopefully open up my own business or

brand in the future.

Travel and work internationally for a fashion company such as Macys’ or

Nordstrom. I would take the opportunity to be a buyer for Macys’ or Nordstrom.

This best fits me because I know buyers travel a lot and traveling is the best way

to experience the world, fashion and business wise. I think I have an eye for

fashion and I am able to choose products that I know appeal to customers.

Working on television sets as a wardrobe or personal stylist. This is a good fit for

me because I love to give fashion advice to those who are picky and choosy of

what to wear. Styling is a fun thing to do in my spare time, so I wouldn’t consider

it a job, but it would be great to style and get paid for it. I like to work with

different people and mixing personal style with my style.
