  • The philosophy for my fashion journalis fashion done to the extreme, yet delicate.

  • Ana Suis Fall 2010 RTW collection is full of magpie prints and pilings, plaid, sheer floral prints, velvet, and many other textures. The backdrop of the runway is set as a Woodstock themed landscape with a loud thematic cue. The outfits were paired with embroidered doctors bags and loud, glitter heels. The mix of textures and layers were all over the runway, such as a sheer floral peasant top worn over a plaid a-symmetrical skirt. The collection is filled with this seasons emerging trends-velvet, grunge, platoon greens and splicing.

  • Topshop is a British chain of clothing stores that carries a range of products including clothing and fashion accessories. The company expanded into the online fashion retail era and is now coming to Chicago. Topshop has only one US store that opened in SoHo, NY last year. Philip Green, Topshops owner chose Chicago over other contenders such as, Las Vegas and San Francisco. We like big cities, big corners, big billboard shop frontage, and we like to be high on the street, said Green. The store will carry Topshop and the mens line, Topman. The merchandise will be adjusted to accommodate the local market and the weather of Chicago.

  • The full skirt is a retro inspired silhouette that is being seen everywhere. From Louis Vuitton, Chloe, Ralph Lauren, and Salvatore Ferragamo, there are many different approaches for the full skirt. The style is modest yet full of volume. It can be worn with many different options that are both unique and wearable. The skirt can be pleated to give texture, made of leather, jacquard, heavy wool, and many more. The full skirt can be worn with a boat neck sweater and classic heels for a clean look. It can also be worn with a chunky knit sweater and ankle boots to give it a more grunge modern twist. Keep it sexy with a sheer blouse or a fitted top. The mass appeal of the full skirt brings an element of grace back. The full skirt can be pulled off as effortless or surprisingly sexy for all women.4.

  • Fall 2010 Fashion Observations were based on runway and consumer magazines. From the runway to the street, I saw grunge mixed with a little punk. I also saw chunky knits, layers and hardware. The look on the streets of Chicago were more casual and preppy than on the runway. 5.

  • Fashion trends start at the top of the social ladder. Designers cater to the wealthy and put these images on the runway and in fashion magazines. The upper class are seen as models for these trends and then trickles down to mass market. The working class then find differentiation and imitation of these products, whether they are clothing, beauty, or for the home.6.

  • Predictions for Fall 2011 will be influenced by the economy and everyone will be wanting new to get everyones attention. Color will play an important role and will be anything but not ordinary black. Colors will include tangerine, deep blues, red, burgundy, greens, and mauve. Everything from color, detail, and texture will be a statement. There will be a lot of pattern and ethnic influence. High collars and floral patterns in dresses and coats will be the new trend. 7.

  • Neiman Marcus window displays exhibit a whimsical theme. There are oversized birdcages and the mannequins are holding umbrellas. Ribbons are tied to strings of large-bulb Christmas lights. The backdrop colors are bright and colorful, while the dresses on the mannequins are dark and heavy. The LED Christmas lights are also bright and welcoming. The details, color, and whimsy of the displays will lure everyone in. 4.14.

  • Lanvin for H&M had great visuals to lure a different customer into the stores. Lanvins collection is not a dress for less collection, rather a collection for a wider audience. The visuals were beautiful and displayed all of the biggest trends right now. H&M is already recognizable name and bringing Lanvin to the store just lures more people in. The collection displayed is not much different than the clothing already sold at H&M, and the prices of the pieces are in the window, so your everyday customer will not be pushed away.15.

  • Designer: Elie Saab

    Collection: Ready To Wear

    Season: Spring 2011

Target Market: High societywomen who frequently attend events and do notwant to be seen in the same gown as anyoneelse.

Retailer: Elie Saab designs can bepurchased at Bergdorf Goodman and NeimanMarcus.

Review: Elie Saab is one of my favoritedesigners. His gowns push the boundaries and theinside of his designs are just as beautiful as theoutside. The attention to detail is beautiful andanyone wearing his designs will never be on theworst dressed list.

  • Betsey Johnsons bicycle chains around the neck are tacky and the polyester body suit with thigh-high striped leggings are cutting her body off at the widest part and is not flattering on any body type.Phillip Lims color block suit is chopping his body up and is making his body appear short and wide.19.

  • Phillip Lims slouchy suede paisley embroidered lounge pants paired with a suede front zipper shirt is anything but masculine. Louis Vuittons one-piece outfit gives no shape to any part of the body. The cut-outs in the legs and arms make the garment flow in an unflattering way.20.

  • The role of an online Visual Merchandiser requires someone with deep fashion insight and the ability to work with a studio team to bring the products to life. They must use innovative and eye-catching styling to catch the attention of the fast-paced online shopper. This position would suit someone who thrives in the critical developmental stage in the high stakes environment of the e-tailing world. As a fashion savvy young woman, I fit the mold for the demographic that online retailers are trying to attract. Being a frequent e-tailer myself, I know what will catch the attention of likeminded young women to shop online. I appreciate the understanding of the importance of high quality as a function within business. I also have the confidence to learn in an online environment.21.

  • A Fashion Stylist cultivates an image and mood that best represents their client for a specific occasion. In order to be successful, a stylist must be prepared to work around all different body types, and personalities. It is their job to assist the client in creating a personal style that achieves confidence and comfort. A great understanding of fashion, fabrics, fit, and accessories are key to creating the perfect look to suit the clients needs. If said client is a celebrity, it is the stylists job to make sure each outfit will look good on camera, as well as under bright lights. I have my own voice and have the communication skills to work with both the designers and the clients to fit both of their needs. A stylist fulfils many more roles than just putting outfits together for a client. With my personality and dedication, people would gravitate towards my vision.

  • As a Fashion Public Relations Specialist, the position requires someone to establish new concepts, achieve brand promotion, and secure recognition in the fashion world. They must live their life with an attitude of all things fashion-related. The role will be to fulfill the needs of both clients and media alike of the trends in the fashion world. Through extensive work, this person must be committed to promoting emerging brands as well as keeping veteran brands in the media. Through strategically planned marketing the specialist is able to convince the public of a products importance, thus making it an household name. They will represent corporate and emerging brands looking to heighten brand awareness within the fashion and entertainment community through product placement, celebrity seeding and publicity. I would enjoy the challenge of turning an emerging brand into a household name. I would enjoy the challenge and the rewards of seeing all of the hard work all over the media. Being responsible for interacting with the clients as well as the media puts me in a very important position.
