for Laity

PASTORS and TREASURERS: Thank you so much for your help in seeing that the apportionments were sent to the Conference Office before the end of the year. I know some were sent later but most were made on time. This will help a lot with the District Audit.

STATISTICAL TABLES– By the time you receive this letter the end of the year reports should be close to being completed. The deadline for Statistical Tables II & III is January 31. Table I was January 1. Thank you so much for your work in getting this information online in a timely manner. To complete these reports several people need to be involved. Remember that it takes all of us working together to make it happen. Other reports that were recently due are the Pastor and Church/Community Profiles, the S/PPRC Appointment Recommendation Report/ The Interpreter Subscriptions and all final charge conference reports.

IN MARCH THE PASTOR EVALUATION will be mailed to the S/PPR Chairperson and emailed to the pastor. These forms will need to be completed by June 1st and returned to the District Office.

ONLINE APPORTIONMENTS You can now access your church Apportionment Statement online and register to make online payments to the Conference Treasurer's Office for apportionments and other benevolences. Go to www.vaumcpayapp.org anytime throughout the month to see a current statement. No need to use a check pay service or send us a check. Give VAUMC PayApp a try!

THE FARMVILLE DISTRICT YOUTH -

fusion 15 youth retreat ECHO God’s praises!

FEBRUARY 27-MARCH 1, 2015 AT EAGLE EYRIE

Fusion Retreat is a United Methodist Youth retreat held annually at Eagle Eyrie

Conference Center in Lynchburg, Virginia, during late February or early March. This retreat is

sponsored by the Danville, Lynchburg and Farmville Districts of the Virginia Conference of the

United Methodist Church.

Our theme for the weekend will be ECHO. During our time we will explore what it

means to be the echo of Christ. The main scripture for the weekend comes from Isaiah 42:12,

"Make God's glory resound; echo his praises from coast to coast" (The Message).

Our speaker and musician for the weekend will be Celia Whitler. Celia is a singer,

songwriter, author, and speaker out of Nashville. She is a gifted storyteller. Celia will help us

discover what it means to be like Christ as we live, love, and share Christ "from coast to

coast." In addition we will have a praise and worship band, small group time, youth group time,

great worship, good food, a designated mission project, and much more. At this year's

retreat, we will focus on two mission projects: UMC's 'Imagine No Malaria' campaign and

assembly of UMCOR Health Kits.

The cost for the 2015 Fusion retreat will be $100/person. This cost covers lodging,

meals, and speaker. In addition, all youth groups who register by February 6, 2015 will receive

free t-shirts . Registration forms can be found at: www.fusion retreat.org or you can contact

CLERGY ETHICS II TRAINING-FARMVILLE

DISTRICT, APRIL 16, 2015, MEMORIAL UMC (APPOMATTOX). All clergy and church professionals are

reminded that attendance at an Ethics II training during this quadrennium (2012-2016) is required. Trainings are held

four times a year throughout the conference. You may download a brochure with training details and schedule from

www.vaumc.org/ClergyExcellence. You must register at least 48 hours prior to the event. The Farmville District will be host to one of these events at the Memorial UMC (Appomattox),

the digital age. How do we covenant to live in this new electronic world? How does my church develop a policy for use of email, social media, and electronic communication?

missionaries of justice, as well as

the more traditional missionaries of

mercy. United Methodist Day and

other avenues of faithful advocacy

help us to look beyond mercy

ministry to ask: “What caused this

problem? What causes hunger?

Global warming?” By joining

together and establishing

relationships with our elected

officials, we empower members of

our congregations to wonder, “How

can I make a difference? How can I
