Q9. When are FPM stude nts allowed to see k placement?

 A. Students are a llowed to seek employment after making their proposal presentations successfully and likely to

defend their final theses in next six months. Students seeking employment prior to their final theses defence are

required to take a no objection certificate from their DAC (Dissertation Advisory Committee) Chairman

Q10. Do FPMs have a separate placement process?

 A. Institutes and firms looking for researchers generally contact FPM students and FPM office. FPM students also get

placed through the PGP placement process. Generally people over these 4 years make sufficient contacts in the

academic institutes and industry so that they have no problem with placements. There are no specific placement

services for FPMs separately but that's not required either

Q11. I am working in a technical position in my company. I want to switch to a manager ial position.

However, I have not done any management course. My first prefere nce is a corporate job. Should I apply

 A. You do not want to spend four to seven years doing doctoral work while you can accomplish your career goals by

doing one to two years MBA programme.

Q14. What is RAT?

 A. The Research Aptitude Test (RAT) judges the applicant on the basis of his/her quantitative, analytical, language

of the test may change from year to year depending on the needs of the institute.

Q15. What is the purpose of area specific selection tests and the interv iew?

 A. We attach high importance to applicant's motivation and research capability. Therefore it is natural that we probe

the applicant's motivation for a research career, either in academia or in industry. We also need to know if the

candidate fits well to the objective of FPM. The purpose of the interview and test is also to gauge the academic

preparation of the candidate for the specific area he/she has applied. The interview also gives the candidate an

opportunity to find out if the programme meets the requirements of the student.

 A. The selection is area specific and ent irely depends on the candidate’s performance. There is no lower or upper
