Purpose of this documentThe purpose of this FAQ Document on Vitria - chan check is to provide the insights to BCH HUB AMS Team on the steps to follow to perform the chan check activity in Production Environment. This document is not an exhaustive one in nature but give bare-minimal information for AMS Team to perform the chan check activity. This document may have to be used along with additional Vitria Product Information, if any.

What is chan check?The data file written by the Vitria server Chanserv.dat file will grow day by day, so by performing the chancheck activity we will shrunk file size.

How to perform chan check?Please perform the following activities,

1. Login to the PMS1/PMS2 server2. Disable cronos on the PMS server 3. Stop all vitria components (like Connectors, Automators)4. Run stopservs command to stop the vitria businessware services5. Follow the chan check procedure6. Run the startservs command to start the vitria business ware services7. Start the Vitria components on UNIX server8. Perform sanity testing9. Enable the crons on the UNIX server

chan check procedure

Follow the steps, given below, to perform chan check procedure:Step 1: Go to folder:

$VITRIA/data/live

Step 2: Execute the command: chancheck -d chanserv1_v3.dat -w chanserv1_v3.wal -k

Step 3: Observe the response: Scanning object list ... Scan complete.

Step 4: Enter command -write ctemp.dat (then Press Enter)

Step 5: Observe the response:

Wrote ...

Step 6: Enter command - quit (press Enter)

Step 7: Observe the response: Stabilizing log ... Deleting chanserv2_v2.wal Exiting.

Step 8: copy chanserv1_v3.dat file to chanserv1_v3.dat.10202011

Step 9: Rename ctemp.dat to chanserv1_v3.dat

This completes the shrinking of the data file
