‘The Mental Health Act; Behind Closed Doors’Synopsis: For 45 years Stuart was a member of Parklane Plowden specialising in personal injury and clinical negligence. For nearly 30 yearshe sat as a Recorder in the Crown Court and now continues to chair Mental Health Tribunals. He will seekto open up the functioning of the Mental Health Act with particular reference to mothers and families.

Supporting those serving the hidden sentence-needs, evidence, good practice and next steps.Synopsis: Anne Fox was deputy chair of the Farmer review of “The Importance of Strengthening Prisoners’ Family Ties to Prevent Reoffending and Reduce Intergenerational Crime”. She will talk to the needs of families, the support on offer, good practice examples, the review and progress on its implementation.

Prisoners’ families are the “golden thread: Synopsis: Diane will discuss the importance of ensuring prisoners’ children and their families are not just seen as an addendum to the prisoners’ criminal justice journey but are seen as families that may have additional situations of their own to deal with.
