At the start of the year, we all make resolutions to try something new, improve a skill, or to simply enjoy the little things a bit more. No matter what your resolution is for 2017, the Fallbrook Community Center has a variety of programs, services and events that can help you achieve one or all of these goals. We are dedicated to providing avenues for exceptional experiences for all our customers and we hope that you give us the opportunity to do so for you!

The Friends of Fallbrook Community CenterThe Friends of the Fallbrook Community Center is a 501c3 Non-Profit Organization dedicated to aiding the Fallbrook Community Center by providing funds and volunteer services which contribute to the fitness, education, and well-being of Fallbrook residents of all ages. The group sponsors special events and programs, raises funds to purchase equipment, and subsidizes affordable programs for children.

Fallbrook Healthy Living SeriesJoin us for a night of healthy cooking! Chef Greg will teach us how to prepare a healthy meal by integrating more fruits, vegetables and whole grains into our favorite dishes. All classes are free, and made possible through a generous grant from the Fallbrook Healthcare District. RSVP with a health coach at (619) 466-4386. Registration is required.

Pancake Breakfast and Spring Egg HuntBring the whole family and join the Bunny for a tasty pancake breakfast at 8 a.m. and egg hunting fun at 10 a.m.! Fallbrook Firefighter’s Association will serve up a delicious pancake breakfast as the Bunny hops around to meet children and pose for photo opps. After breakfast, egg hunts are arranged by age group and will be followed by fun games, and contests.

QCS Children’s Academy License #376700970QCS Children’s Academy follows an early education program that is committed to providing high-quality preschool experiences to prepare each child for a smooth transition into Kindergarten. It’s a developmental, play-based program founded on the belief that children are competent, capable and self-motivated learners. QCS Children’s Academy programs (full fee and state-funded) promote an enriched age-appropriate curriculum that values a strong sense of personal integrity, social responsibility, respect and courtesy for others—along with a passion for learning in a nurturing environment. Throughout the day, children are given the autonomy to make their own choices and explore activities, both indoors and outdoors. Our qualified, dedicated and experienced staff will ensure your child has a positive, rewarding and fun learning experience. The center provides meals and snacks. After School Safety and Education Program (A.S.E.S.) Are you looking for a safe place for your student before and after school, where they can get help with homework, improve grades and have fun? Guitar: Beginner IIn Beginner Guitar I, you’ll learn basic cords, chord progressions and easy-to-play picking for real songs from the ground up. You will also practice playing guitar together with classmates. At the end of this course, you’ll have a good foundation for playing guitar for years to come! Guitar picks and printed instructional material will be provided free of charge. If you break a guitar string during a class, we’ll replace it!

ATA Success Martial ArtATA Success Martial Arts provides the perfect environment for the entire family to learn Taekwondo. As part of the American Taekwondo Association (ATA), instructors strive to teach the sport, physical fitness, self-defense and self-esteem in a fun environment. Advancement in rank is offered from beginner to black belt. Uniforms and equipment are available at class, but are not mandatory.

Spring Day CampJoin us for a week of learning outside the box! For one very special week, we will be exploring topics in science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics. Campers will complete hands-on, mind-enhancing projects. Other plans include a field trip, healthy cooking, arts and crafts, movies, games, snacks and sports. Activities are planned and led by Community Center staff. Children should bring a nutritious morning snack, a sack lunch and a water bottle. Afternoon snacks will be provided. Register in advance; space is limited.

Mommy/Daddy & Me SoccerIntroduce your toddler to the world’s most popular game! As you and your child participate in our fun, age-appropriate activities, your child will be developing their large motor and social skills. The fun happens on the field, and in Mommy/Daddy & Me Soccer, parents are part of the action, not watching from the sidelines! All kids will receive a Kidz Love Soccer jersey.

Session 1: Feb. 7 – March 14 Tuesdays, 5 – 5:30 p.m. Session 1: April 11 – May 16 Tuesdays, 5:30 – 6 p.m. Fee: $77/6-week session Ages: 2 – 3.5 years

Tot/Pre SoccerLittle tykes will enjoy running and kicking just like the big kids! This class is perfect for first-time players but still exciting and engaging for kids with some experience. Shin guards are required after the first meeting. Tai Chi for EverybodyTai Chi, also called “Meditation in Movement,” is a series of soft and slow movements that can be practiced by people of all ages. Benefits include stress reduction, better focus and concentration, increased flexibility, strength and coordination, enhanced memory and improved circulation. Healing Pilates MatThis classical Pilates mat class is based on the system of slow and controlled dance movements that Joseph H. Pilates used in New York with boxers, gymnasts, musicians and dancers. The blend of strengthening and flexibility training of the body’s core muscles improves posture, reduces stress and creates long lean muscles (without bulk). Instructor Judi Way has been studying how movement heals and restores vitality and health in the human body for more than 30 years; allow her to share her knowledge with you! Bring a yoga mat or blanket and wear comfortable clothes.

Beginning YogaMaintaining strength and flexibility throughout your lifetime is key to having an enjoyable and vital life – both now and in the future! In this class we go beyond basic yoga by adding light weights, modifying postures using chairs, therapy balls and walls. Join us for an hour of fitness, fun and friendship. New students should arrive 15 minutes early to register.

Boot CampLearn how to exercise properly in a supportive but tough environment, with alternating workouts that help to continuously improve your physique and mental and physical health. Equipment including dumbbells, jump ropes, kettle bells, agility ladders, bosu balls and more will keep your challenged, interested and having fun! All exercises are personalized to suit individuals’ abilities and goals, providing a safe and effective workout.

PickleballPickleball is a fun, fast-paced, social sport that is enjoyed by players of all fitness levels. It’s played on a court that’s one quarter the size of a tennis court and features elements of badminton, tennis and ping pong. New players, please register at the community center office ahead of time. Bring your own paddle!

Outdoor Open Play VolleyballBump-Set-Spike! Adult Pick-up Volleyball is a fun, competitive and fast-paced sport that is enjoyed by individuals of all fitness levels. This workout requires speed, agility, balance, flexibility and coordination. New players, please register at the community center office. All levels are welcome.

A Brand New Class!Soul Line DancingLine Dancing is not just for those who love country western dancing. Rejuvenate and energize your body through dance while learning popular SOUL line dances choreographed to your favorite R&B, Old School, Latin and similar upbeat tunes. If you like the Cupid Shuffle or the Electric Slide, you’ll absolutely love Uptown Funk and the Michael Jackson Shuffle. Whimsical Jewelry Making and Design – WorkshopCreate magical pieces of jewelry in this special class. You will learn about color, balance, beading, write wrapping and other techniques. Each class takes you step-by-step through several projects. This class is both fun and easy, and everyone leaves with a masterpiece to share. All abilities are welcome, though advanced registration is required.

Driver Education (Online)Driver education is a California-required course for teens to receive their driver’s license. It is the first step toward earning a driver’s permit. This online course includes parental involvement and is fun, interactive and educational.

Senior LunchThe Fallbrook Senior Center serves hot, nutritious lunch in the Community Center Dining Room Monday through Friday. Meals are for seniors 60+ and reservations are not required. Meals are also delivered to home-bound seniors who cannot attend the lunch. This project is sponsored by the Fallbrook Senior Citizens Service Club, generous donations from friends and organizations in the community, and the Older Americans Act Fund through the County’s Aging and Independent Services Department. Dog Obedience Training BasicsTrue freedom for your dog comes with proper training. With a firm combination of loving and patient training methods, owners and the instructor will turn our four-legged friends into well-mannered family members. Basic obedience commands will be covered such as, “watch me,” “sit,” “down,” “stay,” “let’s go,” and “come.” Students will develop leadership skills and work on socializing their dogs. The class meets rain or shine.

The first class is orientation, where the instructor will explain what to bring and the rules for the class. Please do not bring dogs to orientation. Orientation will be held inside the Community Center.

The rest of the classes will be held outdoors on the basketball courts.

Colorful Greeting Cards WorkshopCome along as we help you create personalized Greeting cards. Use this time to explore color and shapes and to leave with new techniques and beautiful cards you can use for all occasions. The class is very fun and easy and everyone leaves with their very own masterpiece! Class level = all levels welcome (both kids and adults) Advanced registration required.

WatercolorJoin our watercolor class and explore the joys and challenges of this medium including detailed discussions of watercolor materials (paper, brushes, paints, etc.) and instruction on many watercolor techniques for painting of landscapes, seascapes, portraits and still-lifes. Pam demonstrates the painting process step-by-step, detailing the “hows” and “whys” and following up with individual attention. Various concepts will be introduced such as limited palettes, mixing colors, the color wheel, harmonious and complementary colors. We also discuss perspective, composition, hard and soft edges and value. Reserve a Pavilion for your next BBQ or picnic! The fee is just $100 per day, from 9 a.m. to dusk. Reservations must be made in advance.

Fallbrook Street Picnic Pavilion: Located next to a fenced playground, basketball court and grassy play area, this area includes a covered pavilion with four picnic tables, accommodating up to 32 people.

Heald Lane Picnic Pavilion: In this area, a covered pavilion provides shade for four picnic tables, three BBQs, sand volleyball courts, and restrooms – with space for 32 people to party! Electricity is available for an additional $25. Jumpers are accepted and may be booked separately, with a $25 fee plus insurance.

The Fallbrook Community Center is a convenient and affordable alternative to commercial party spaces, and a great place to host your next special occasion. Inside, you’ll find a 4,032-square-foot auditorium, full prep kitchen and several versatile conference rooms. Outside are two reservable picnic areas that

can host up to 32 guests, each, sand volleyball courts, a basketball court and grassy lawn.

First inhabited by Native Americans, this park is an oak tree forest that is ideal for picnicking, strolling and sharing time with family and friends. Live Oak is a cornerstone of the Fallbrook community and a favorite for special events like weddings, family reunions and public ceremonies. The park is also home to woodpeckers, hawks and songbirds that swoop between the ancient oaks. Picnic areas can accommodate small groups, or large gatherings up to 250 people.

Leash Free Area at Live Oak County Park Corner of Reche Rd. and Gird Rd., Fallbrook (760) 728-2303 Open 8 a.m. to sunset (closed December 25)

At the corner of Reche Road and Gird Road Live Oak County Park has a 3,000 square foot leash-free area for dogs and humans to play and socialize. The area is complete with a parking lot, restroom, tables, benches, pet waste stations, trash receptacles and drinking fountains for both dogs and their owners. A maximum of four dogs per owner are allowed. There is a $3 per vehicle day-use fee, or an annual pass can be purchased at the park office for $25. This 221-acre preserve has a nice equestrian-friendly staging area and 1.5-miles of multi-use trails that are great for horseback riding, hiking and bird watching. The area has a rich cultural history; for centuries the abounding resources in the river valley sustained Native Americans, named Luisenos by the Spanish explorers. During the Mexican era, Rancho Santa Margarita y Las Flores was granted to brothers Pio and Andres Pico in 1841. Today the original rancho boundaries encompass Camp Pendleton.

Rainbow Park is a local park for residents of Rainbow, located in northern San Diego County. Rainbow Park provides active recreation elements such as ballfields, tennis and basketball courts. It also has picnic amenities where families can relax and host group gatherings. Reservations are required for organized sports and larger picnic groups.

Located in west Fallbrook, this half-acre park includes both junior and tot-lot playgrounds, a picnic plaza with a covered pavilion, barbecues, a synthetic turf soccer field and a sand volleyball court. The park also boasts a sweeping view of the Santa Margarita Mountains and hiking trails to the north. Clemmens Lane is within walking distance of the shops and restaurants in downtown Fallbrook.

Nestled in a quiet neighborhood, Don Dussault is a 0.75-acre local park featuring a community playground. Bench seating is available from multiple vantage points, and mature trees provide shade throughout the day. While there is no parking on site, the park is easily accessible by sidewalk via the local neighborhood.
