To date, Web of Benefit has awarded 655 Self- Suffienciency Grants to survivors of domestic
violence, totaling to $440,000. 600 grants have been given in Boston, for $401,000.
“Thank you for helping me make one of the biggest steps in my life. With your help I have started school
this semester, my first class felt great. I can’t thank you enough for your help not only emotionally but also
for my deposit for school and the laptop.
“You have no idea how happy and emotional I am feeling right now. My computer represents a lot for
me. When I opened it yesterday, the first thing I noticed was the name “Inspiron” and I thought: this is
really going to inspire me for the rest of my life. For instance, I’m working right now on the draft of my story
that I would like to publish in your blog. With this computer, I am going to step forward to a new life full of
dreams that I want to accomplish. If I manage to publish my book, you will for sure be mentioned in it!”
By donating your unwanted gold jewelry, Web of Benefit will be
able to combine the proceeds to create individualized Self-
Sufficiency Grants of $500. Web of Benefit collaborates with a local
gold processor, bypassing the jewelry-buying middleman, to sell the gold
for the highest price. This not only gives the greatest benefit to survivors of domestic violence,
but creates the largest tax-deductible donation for each piece given.
The gold is valued by karat, weight, and current market price per ounce. By dealing directly
with our processor, we will be able to donate the maximum amount received for each item
Only 2% of proceeds will go to the processor. See www.ringsfordreams.org for more
information.

Web of Benefit is pleased to announce a new and unique way to help survivors of domestic
violence: Sponsorship Circles. The mission of a Sponsorship Circle is to fund one or more Self-
Sufficiency Grants of $500 each. These circles may include a group of friends or co-workers
or a family. By combining smaller donations into a larger
gift of $500, circles can change a woman’s life.
The grants will aid in the reclamation of the
power of the feminine spirit by assisting women
in reaching their highest potential, free from
the threat of violence. Individually
designed grants will be awarded for
housing stabilization, education,
technology, transportation costs, micro-financing
and more.
Each Sponsorship Circle will receive: background information about the grantee, the
grantee’s dreams and goals, and specifics of the grant award. After one year, the
Sponsorship Circle will receive a follow-up report describing the grantee’s successes and
good works performed under our “Pay-It-Forward” philosophy. Please contact Johanna
Crawford, Executive Director, at 617-285-1900 or [email protected] for more information.
On April 25th, Web of Benefit hosted Celebration of 5s to commemorate five years and 500
grants awarded to survivors of domestic violence. This amazing milestone was a cause for a
celebration including awards, music, a live auction, and a benefit drawing. Some of the
benefit drawings offerings included Red Sox Tickets, spa packages, and gift certificates for
fine restaurant dining. The big ticket items at the live auction were a two-bedroom condo for
one week at an RCI vacation house.

Web of Benefit awarded its annual Woman
of the Web Award to Ann Wilkinson.
An award is given each year to the woman
who personifies the essence of the Web of
Benefit philosophy and the belief in:
The power of the feminine spirit toovercome adversity. The ability to create and realize her
dreams. The realization of her highest potential.
The “Pay-It-Forward” philosophy of goodworks.
Numerous businesses generously donated
food for the event: Thank you to Shaws,
Hazel's Bakery, Lulu's Sweet Shoppe, and Costco. The event raised more than $11,000. All
proceeds will fund more than 22 Self- Sufficiency Grants given to survivors of domestic
violence for education, housing, micro-financing, and more.
For the second year, Web of Benefit(WOB) had the
opportunity to work with another Babson College freshman
class. Throughout their semester, Babson’s 27-member
company has worked closely with WOB in order to
complete their required eight hours of community service.
The students, as a part of their FME class, created and
managed a successful business with the goal of making a
profitable donation to Web of Benefit and learning essential
business strategies. In April, nine students took children from Transition House to the Boston
Children’s Museum. A student said “This experience showed us not only where our money
was going, but how we were affecting the everyday lives of these families. Giving children a
carefree, fun day with their peers and older kids made them feel important, which they truly
are. [The] children were a true inspiration for us.”
Web of Benefit is grateful for the connection to Babson College The hard work of the
students resulted in three grants for WOB’s grantees: one for education, one for a small
business and one for immigration.

To date, Web of Benefit has awarded 655 Self- Suffienciency Grants to survivors of domestic
violence, totaling to $440,000. 55 grants have been given in Chicago, for $39,000.
“You helped me open my mind and explore my dreams in more depth and gave me the extra push that I
needed. You will always be in my thoughts every time I take a picture. I will never forget your kindness.”
“It may seem like small thing to some, but encouraging
women who have been scarred by abuse not only to
believe in a future, but dream big in the process is huge.
That’s what your organization does by awarding Self-
Sufficiency Grants to domestic violence survivors. Your
positive approach and enthusiasm is contagious, and our
clients have expressed their gratitude. Many times, I have
thought, what a benefit it would be to a certain client “if
only” we had the funds to provide a laptop to support an
education goal or employment opportunity. Web of Benefit
has been a solution to many of my “if only” dilemmas…”
