I thank you, O God for giving me a body which is specially fit and strong, and for making me able to use it well.

In my training, Help me never to shirk the discipline which I know that I

make me less fit than I ought to be.

THE IMPORTANCE OF ATHLETICS

The athletic program at Eastdale provides students with an opportunity to build lasting friendships, and pursue excellence in athletics. Through participation on our teams as a student-athlete, students are provided a great opportunity for leadership development and personal growth.

Our athletic program, under the leadership of Mr. Gilbride, is an important part of the secondary school experience at Eastdale. The wide variety of sport teams we offer are designed to meet students’ interests, help them pursue post-secondary athletic goals, and expose our students to new challenges. Outstanding facilities, great coaches, and amazing athletes combine to produce memorable performances. Very little in life can be accomplished without hard work and dedication. These teams promote a strong work ethic, positive character traits and academic achievement.

You will hear about some remarkable performances at this year’s Athletic Banquet. I have had the pleasure to be a witness to many of these amazing performances. Your friends, family, teachers, and coaches are very proud of your accomplishments! You have continued the tradition of excellence in athletics at Eastdale through your efforts on and off the field of play. A special ‘thank you and good luck’ to our graduates, who are moving on to the next chapter in their lives.
