Coach: Matt Andreasen (first year)Last year's record: 4-10-1, lost in Eastern A preliminaryRet u r n i ng pla y er s : S en ior s — Z ac h Tannenbaum (MF), Corey Morin (MF), Navid Rohani (MF); Juniors — Brady Pleau (FB), Michael Cote (FB).Key losses : Nate Blais (MF), Ben Bowles (G), Jared Pelletier (S), Ian Therriault (MF), Adam Timberlake (MF), Nigel Bowles (MF), Richard Grondin (FB), Ethan Polisky (FB), Taylor Ramich (FB), Brandon Cote (MF), Yusuf Mohamed (MF), Abdiwali Yonis (MF).

Promising newcomers : Sophomore — Llewellyn Jensen (G); Freshmen — Kaleb Main (FB), Landon Pope (MF).Outlook: The Eddies have a new coach and not a lot of varsity experience returning. Tannenbaum, Morin, Rohani, Pleau and Cote have seen some varsity time but the rest of the squad is pretty green.Coach's comment: "It's a year of transition. We'll be young this season as we look to integrate a handful of young talent with our experienced senior class. Tannenbaum and Morin will hold down the midfield while Pleau and Cote will anchor the backline. Our attack remains a question mark that will hopefully be

addressed. The team has made considerable strides since the beginning of summer, and I anticipate that we'll be competitive in what should be a very well-balanced conference. We hope to continue our improvement as the season progresses and sneak into a playoff spot." — Coach Matt Andreasen.

Coach: Craig Latuscha (third year)Last year's record: 2-9-3Returning players: Seniors — Lexi Clavet (SK), Kate Sawyer (MF/SK), Abby Bellefleur (MF), Avery Chisholm (FB), Ayumi Ranucci (MF/SK), Allarie Lever (MF); Juniors — Kory Norcross (SK), Taylor Landry (G); Sophomore — Hanna Smith (FB).Key losses: Jaclyn Masters (SK), Marykate Masters (MF), Emily Hartnett (SK), Kelly Philbrook (FB), Melissa Paione (FB), Phoebe Chamberlin (FB), Liz Stauffer (FB).Promising newcomers: Senior — Shaylin Collins, Taija Ayotte (SK); Juniors — Rebeka Abel (SK), Emily Schario (FB), Danny Rock (FB); Sopohomore — Calli Murray (MF), Molly Murray (G/SK), Makayla Norcross (MF/

SK), Olivia Paione (MF); Freshman — Sarah Hammond (FB).Outlook: EL lost nine seniors f rom last year's club, including Jaclyn Masters, an all-conference and all-state pick. The Red Eddies will sti l l be young and trying to improve against a tough KVAC field.

Coach's comment: "We're excited about the return of several young players who received a significant amount of playing time last season against some of the state's top teams. With the addition of other underclassmen, the team will have more depth than in year's past."— Coach Craig Latuscha.

Coach: Mike Nyberg (first year)Last year's results: Boys — 10th in Eastern A; Girls — Eighth in Eastern A.Returning athletes: Boys: Senior — Luc Bourget, Ben Foster, Midhun Gelder, Adam Robinson; Juniors — Tony Gardner, Izaac White; Girls: Seniors — Darian Kopka, Crystal Labonte, Keira Wooten.Key losses: Justin LeClair, Abby Dunn.Promising newcomers: Boys: Senior — Roger Charest, Robbie Hollis; Sophomore — Jake Bazinet,

Freshman — Spencer Dunn; Girls: Senior — Liz Bouchard; Junior — Avery Laliberte; Sophomore — Mercedes Lane; Freshmen — Ashley Joyner, Kailey Norcross, Kasey Pinkham.Outlook: The Red Eddies are trying to build themselves back into contention after qualifying one runner for states last year. Bourget leads the boys as their No. 1, but they will be relying mostly on underclassmen such as Bazinet, Gardner and White to keep scores low. New addition Laliberte bolsters a solid veteran core of girls led by Kopka, Labonte and Wooten.Coach's comment: “It’s a young team. Our

expectations are to go all the way to states and do well at states.” — Coach Mike Nyberg.

Coach: Dave Sterling (third year)Last year’s record: 3-5Returning players: Seniors — Quin Leary (TE/LB), Sean Ford (QB), Alex Sterling (T/DT), Mitch Lachapelle (T/DT).Key losses: Luke Farrago (FB/LB), Dylan Deconzo (LB/TB), Alphonso Belnavis (CB/WR), Darnell Hairston (DE/LB/TB), Josh Delong (QB), Tony Wysocki (G/NG), Garrett Sanborn (G/DE), Aaron Crenshaw (C).Promising newcomers: Seniors — Bryan Uwaechia (CB/WR), Jake McLaughlin (G/DE); Juniors —

Johnny Boyd (TB), Jeff Clark (FB), Andrew St. Pierre (MLB); Sophomore — Ian Mileikis (CB/WR).Outlook: It remains to be seen how it will translate to the win column, but EL flaunts perhaps its most athletic football team in years this season. Even the linchpins of the offensive line, Sterling (6 feet, 240 pounds) and Lachapelle (6-1, 245) kept in shape by running 5-kilometer races this summer. Ford and Leary, equally known for their exploits on the basketball court, will be a dangerous combination through the air. Ford was the third-leading passer in the PTC despite being only a part-time QB a year ago. Boyd and Clark make up an all-new backfield. The defense is young but had a strong preseason.

EL again confronts a rough opening stretch of the schedule with Lawrence, Cony, Bangor, and Brunswick out of the gate.

Coach’s comment: “We have a good core group of seniors, and we have some juniors stepping into big roles.” — Coach Dave Sterling.

Coach: Travis Magnusson (third year) and Kyle Rines (first year).Last year's record: 6-8, lost in Western D quarterfinalReturning players: Seniors — Garrett Hamann (FB), Jacob Bailey (MF); Juniors — Kyle Chabe (FB), Jacob Kimball (MF); Sophomores — Brian Casey

(FB), Scott Wheeler (F), Jesse Warren (FB).Key losses: Austin Dooley (MF), Trevor Averill (F), Alan Hedrick (MF), Cody Barker (FB), Alex Bedard (MF), Morgan Leuck (MF), Chase Barnes (FB/G).Promising newcomers: Senior — Tyler Goyette (MF); Junior — Jacob Marin Moody (FB); Sophomore — Jared Eastman (MF); Freshmen — Jon Randolph (F), Hunter Wiley (FB), Dennis Wescott (FB), Jacob Albert (FB), Brian Chabe (FB).

Outlook: The Bucks only have a handful of veteran players back. They'll take on larger leadership roles while the new players will have to adjust to the varsity level quickly. Buckfield hopes to progress enough to earn a tourney berth.Coach’s comment: “The team is very young, and we will have to improve our defense if we will be able to compete with the top teams in our league. Our goal is to make the playoffs.” — Coach Travis Magnusson.

Coach: Greg Perkins (23rd year)Last year’s record: 8-6-1, lost in Eastern Class A quarterfinalsReturning players: Seniors — Hannah Johnston (F), Sam Goulette (B), Amanda Williams (G), Taylor Berube (F), Kaelina Perron (M), Kaylee Caron (M/B), Sophie Harris (M), Katie Hummes (B); Juniors — Brittany Williams (B).Key losses: Tori Couture (MF), Courtney Pelletier (F), Danielle Demers (B), Madison Williamson (MF), Kayla Nadeau (B), Jordan Tate (F), Gabby

Laperriere (MF).Promising newcomers: Junior — Julia Langevin (F); Freshmen — Madison DeRosa (sweeper), Abby Roy (MF/B).Outlook: Edward Little will ask several players who saw key time as reserves in 2011 to step into starting roles this season in hopes of returning to the playoffs. Williams in goal and Goulette are defensive stalwarts. Johnston will be a focal point of the offense. The KVAC is loaded at the top, as always, with Skowhegan, Cony, Messalonskee and Lawrence leading the way. EL topped the next group a year ago and could do so again if younger

players develop.Coach’s comment: “It’s going to be an interesting

year to see what we can build.” — Coach Greg Perkins.

Coach: Butch Dow (third year)Last year’s record: 4-10Returning players: Seniors — Mariah Carrier (ST), Tori Denis (MF), Emily Paione (FB/MF), Brianna Lajoie (MF); Juniors — Maegan Mathon (F), Morgan Bowen (F), Cassie Regner (FB), Samantha Cote (MF), Jess Cote (MF), Mikaela St. Laurent (MF); Sophomore — Erika Lemieux (FB).Key losses: Kenzi Masselli (G), Kayla Hamel

Lewiston lost some key players but

still have a solid group returning that should help the team continue to improve.Coach’s comment: “The season looks promising. We are rebuilding with many returning players

and some new faces coming in. We hope to better last season as we have better numbers and seasoned athletes.” — Coach Butch Dow.

Coach: Bill County (13th year)Last year’s record: 5-4Returning players: Seniors — Steven Patrie (TE/DE), Brian Wigant (G/DT) Zach Phelan (G/LB), Nick Perreault (TB/S), Colton Bernier (TB), Tom Hird (DE/K/P); Juniors — Gabe Johnson (FB/MLB), Ben Howell (WR/CB).Key losses : Jef f Turcotte (HB/LB/DE), Joe McKinnon (FB/CB), Matt Therrien (HB/CB), Chris Madden (QB), Caleb Johnson (WR/FS), Rudy Pandora (T/DT), David Demers (T), Leo Gaghan (G/DT), Mike Nazaroff (G/LB), Nick Ross (NG), Matt Bowen (C/LB), Steven Hinkley

(WR/DB), Kevin St. Pierre (LB).Promising newcomers: Juniors — Ryan Allen (QB), Eddie Emerson (QB), Nate Freve (C/G/DT); Sophomores — Sheon James (TB/DB), Quintarian Brown (TB), Ace Curry (WR/CB).Outlook: This is Lewiston’s youngest team in years, but the talent level is electrifying. County said that his two-fisted tailback combo of Brown and James were “lethal” as freshmen and that Brown has “Jared Turcotte potential,” a reference to the former Blue Devil who won the Fitzpatrick Trophy and starred at the University of Maine. Curry, the younger brother of former Lewiston QB Ronnie Turner, transfers from EL and adds blistering speed. Patrie is a three-year starter on both sides of the ball. Uncertain areas

include the offensive line, where Phelan moves from fullback to fill one void, and quarterback, where Allen and Emerson are in a derby for the starting job. The Devils might be a year away from contending for the PTC title, but they’ll be

entertaining to watch in the here-and-now.Coach’s comment: “They are talented, but a lot of them have never been here before. When we got off the bus in Bangor (for the first scrimmage), I saw some wide-eyed kids.” — Coach Bill County.

Coach: T.J. Niles (second year)Last year’s results: Boys — Eighth in Class A; Girls —12th in Class A.Returning athletes: Boys: Seniors — Mohamed Barre, Mohamed Awil, Andrew Balsamo, Jordan Balsamo; Junior — Mohamed Mohamed; Girls: Juniors — Mana Abdi, Faith Shaw, Taylor True; Sophomore — Courtney Allen.Key losses: Kevin Lavertu, Matt Chouinard, Nicole Court Menendez.Prom isi ng newcomers : Boy s : Ju n ior — Abdifatah Mohamed; Sophomore —Isaiah

Harris; Girls: Sophomores — Norah Schlax; Nicole Footer; Freshman — Danielle Bellegarde.Outlook: Lewiston’s boys have more than just qualifying for states for the eighth year in a row on their to do list. KVAC and regional titles are reasonable goals, and challenging for a state title isn’t out of the question. Barre should be one of the top runners in the state. Awil, Mohamed Mohamed and the Balsamo brothers could help vault the Blue Devils into contention for their first state title since 2007. With the junior trio of Shaw, Abdi and True forming a solid top

three, the girls could suprise, especially if they add some depth. Coach’s comment: “I think the boys are going

to be very good this year. I think they have a shot at winning most if not all of their meets.” — Coach T.J. Niles.

Coach: Julie Wescott (second year)Last year’s record: 12-3-1, lost in Western Class C semifinalReturning players: Seniors — Bailey Madore (MF/D), Luci Charest (B); Juniors — Hanna Jordan (W), Olivia Harrington (F), Bailey Cutler (MF), Jen Smith (MF), Mariah Breton (D);

Sophomores — Ali Bubar (B), Arianna Kahler (F).Key losses: Angel Strout (F), Lindsey Whitney (F), Devon Brewer (G), Jessica Campbell (MF), Bri Moore (G), Kimber Morse (MF).Promising newcomers: Juniors — Farrah Craig (F), Nichole Jones (D/MF) Sophomores — Molly Nicholson (F), Michaela Bedell (MF), Stevie Charest (G); Freshman — Cassidy Daly (G).Outlook: Hopes are high for the Greyhounds after they pushed perennial Western Class C favorite NYA to penalty corners in a 1-0 playoff

loss last October. Lisbon welcomes back experience every where except in the cage, where Charest and Daly are battling for the job. They’re typical of a young team that still has only two seniors. Wescott has coached most of the players through the ranks since junior high. The Greyhounds should be in the mix with Spruce Mountain and Winthrop among the top teams in the MVC.Coach’s comment: “We want to go deeper into the playoffs than we did last year and keep going

forward.” — Coach Julie Wescott.

Coach: Mike McGraw (30th year)Last year’s record: 12-3-1, lost in Eastern A semifinalReturning players: Seniors — Eric Soucy (G), Shuab Naji (FB), Mohamed Ali (F), Kusow Aden (F); Juniors — Yusuf Yama (MF), Doud Idow (FB), Abdibaari Hersi (MF), Evan Gosselin (FB); Sophomore — Hassan Hussein (MF).Key losses: Eric Michaud (FB), Luke Olehowski (FB), Benji Abdisalan Saban (SK), Ibrahim Achek h (FB), Da h i r Mu k ta r (MF), Drew Olehowski (FB), Jake Bergeron (FB), Chirs Johnson (FB), Thomas Mufolo (FB), Dennis Graef (MF).

Promising newcomers: Seniors — Issack Aden (FB), Lucas Shulze (FB); Juniors — Abdullahi Shaleh (MF), Mohamedkheir Mohamed (MF), Ibrahim Mohamed (MF), Reilly Bolduc (MF), Aden Abdullahi (F), Kwabena Akerho-Anoff (MF); Sophomores` — Michael Wong (FB), Hassan Mohamed (FB), Joey Frechette (G), Keagan Deslaurier (MF), Mohamed Abdi (FB); Freshmen — Austin Wing (G), Abdi Hassan-Shariff (F).Outlook: The Blue Devils are coming off two straight KVAC titles but lost a wealth of talent from last year’s club. Idow is the only returning defender in front of Soucy while the Blue Devils also lost Saban and Muktar up front. Lewiston has plenty of speed and skill, but it will be a

matter of putting it all together.Coach’s comment: “This year’s team has some big shoes to fill but is very capable if they can play together. Preseason has shown a lot of potential

but the real proof will be when the season begins.” — Coach Mike McGraw.

Coach: Randy Richardson (first year)Last year’s record: 2-9-3Returning players: Seniors — Allison Osgood (D), Kelsey Dumond (MF/F), Sadie Poulin (MF), Ravon Palmer (G), Natalie Rousseau (MF), Jennifer Chouinard (F), Samantha Clark (D); Juniors — Laurianne Murphy (D), Brie Wilson (D/MF), Jenessa Talarico (F), Abby Loisel (F), Olivia Norton (MF), Desirae Roy (wing), Kaylyn Sampson (MF); Sophomore — Margaruette Seguin (D).Key loss: Marissa Zanoni (F).Promising newcomer: Sophomore — Erin Hubbard (MF).

Outlook: Richardson is the Dev i ls' third different coach in three years. He brings a contagious enthusiasm, most recently involved in the sport as an official after coaching stops at multiple prep schools, including Kents Hill. He saw improvement throughout the summer's double sessions and is impressed with the versatility of his older players. With 40 girls in camp, Richardson expects to have a highly competitive JV team that will deepen the Devils' varsity roster as the season progresses. Lewiston has shown flashes of potential the past two years and may be poised for a return to the playoffs.Coach’s comment: “Our goal is to find the way

to best use our talent all over the field. You can’t do it with just a few. They’ve learned that the past few years.” — Coach Randy Richardson.

Outlook: The Cougars lost a talented and experienced group of seniors. That makes Mt. Blue a younger club this fall. There's still some experience back in a small group of returning players and some promising young players that could keep Mt. Blue competitive in the KVAC.Coach's comment: “The team hopes to be competitive and continue the success of the last two seasons. Promising newcomer: Freshman — Emilee Eustis (F).Outlook: New coach Harmon describes her roster as lean in numbers, but fit, as it returns to the Eastern Class B fray after dropping from Class A in 2011. There is still only one senior on the roster. The Cougars expect to be a solid team at both ends of the field. Passing and positioning have been points of emphasis during the early season.Coach's comment: “The players are determined and improving everyday and plan to take home more wins than last year.” — Coach Jody Harmon.

Coach: David Jensen (first year)Last year’s record: 0-12Returning players: Seniors — Gunnar Johnson, AJ Elmes; Juniors — Thomas Clinch, Michael Haley.Promising newcomers : Eighth grade — Carl Trafton, Ricky ThompsonOutlook: The Lakers were winless last year and only won two games the year before. Jensen is a new coach trying to rebuild the program. That

isn’t easy to do in a small school with dwindling numbers, but the Lakers hope to make a steady improvement.Coach’s comment: “I am extremely excited about this season. With the high school getting progressively smaller, its been hard to get enough kids to field a team. The kids that have showed up are working extremely hard at getting better every day. The team is coming off a winless season. So we know we’ve got a long way to go to be where we want to be, but I have all the confidence in the world that we will reach our goals.” — Coach David Jensen.

Coach: Kelley Cullenberg (20th year)Last year’s results: Boys — Seventh in Eastern A; Girls —Fifth in Class A.Returning athletes: Boys: Seniors — Justin Tracy, Sully Jackson; Juniors — Joshua Horne, Noah LePage, Tim Meservier, Allen Taylor; Sophomores — Ricky Chen, Brendan Hickey, Dan Lesko, Sam McIntosh, Caleb Allen; Girls: Seniors — Abby Lochala, Maryam Norton, Deanna Richards; Juniors — Sarah Wade, Macee Qi, Casey Rogers; Sophomores — Katherine

Tracy finished ninth at states last year and figures to challenge for the title this year. Jackson was 21st. The girls

graduated 10 seniors, including three of their top five, but have state qua l i f iers Nor ton, Wade and Gunther back to keep the team in contention.Coach’s comment : “The boys have looked g o o d d u r i n g ou r preseason pract ices and we look forward to keeping them healthy and watching them improve throughout the season.”

Whitney, a three-year starter, is one of the most prolific passers in the state, but he is also a big part of the running game. The weapons around him are almost all new. Jackson and Luker did get carries last year and will give the Cougars a more physical attack behind a

rebuilt offensive line. The receivers are all new except for Kendall, an all-conference tight end last year. All-PTC returnees Jackson and Luker lead the defense. C oach’s c om ment : “These guys learned a lot from last year’s seniors.” — Coach Gary Parlin.

grade: — Meg Target (G), Celia Philbrick (FB).Outlook: The Lakers lost veterans in Cambell and the Carriers, but Rangeley still has a solid group back that should keep them in the chase in Western D. The Lakers are still relatively young but have some experience in the Abbott’s, Jannace and Letarte.Coach’s comment: “This team has been working hard to get ready for the season. I am excited about how we are shaping up and think our positioning on the field will give us both a strong offense and defense this year.” — Coach Georgia Campbell.

Coach: Gino Valeriani (28th year)Returning athletes: Boys: Seniors — Brad Geismar, Josh Hews, Jeff Labbe; Junior — Mako Watanabe.Outlook: Watanabe was a top f inisher in each of Hebron’s M A I S A D r a c e s last year and had a strong f inish at t he New Eng la nd championship meet held by Hebron last November. Hebron

is hosting that meet again this year and is hoping for an even stronger showing.

Coach: Dave Stonebraker (eighth year)Last year’s result: 3-3-2; finished fourth in MAISAD stroke-play championship.

Ret u r n i ng at h lete s : S en ior s — S a m Kinasewich, Mike Kelly, Raphael Blouin; Junior — Greg Labbe.Key loss: Shane Hearn.Promising newcomer: Senior — Alex Guay.

Outlook: Despite a strong lineup, Hebron Academy knows it will face stiff competition. Hebron does have a strong group of returning veterans who will keep their team competitive.Coach’s com ment : “Even w it h st rong returning players, Hebron will have a strong challenge this year to do well in match play and the team championship. We look to our returning players, especially Sam and Mike, to set the tone for the rest of the team with solid play and strong leadership.”

— Coach Dave Stonebraker .

Coach: Ashley Webb (5th season)Last year’s record: 7-6, MAISAD championsReturning players: Seniors — Hannah Hearn, Haley Grimmer, Katie Couture; Juniors — Atupele Machika, Liberty McKnight.Key losses: Sara Grover (G), Ally Strachan (CMF).Promising newcomers: Maria Vogel, Taylor Fower

Outlook: Last year’s team was small (only 13 players), but the group played and developed well as a team throughout the season having good success and winning big games on the road against Kimball Union Academy and New Hampton School, and topping Kents Hill to earn another MAISAD championship. With six of the 13 returning and several promising newcomers joining the team, Hebron looks forward to another positive season together.

Coach: Moose Curtis (38th year)Last year’s record: 2-6Returning players: Seniors — Shaquille Cezont-Holmes, Cam Shirley, Elijah Moreshead, Ray Rawls.Key losses: Justin Levesque, Mike Fitzimmons, Andrew Hastings, Jeremy Remy.

Promising newcomers: Jeff Tardif, Daidyn Ste w a r t , C had Ma nchu len ko-Paquet te, Mathieu Riox-Paquette.Outlook: Hebron is optimistic. The roster is an exciting mix of experience and young talent. The team will feature more speed and more depth in its offensive and defensive lines this season.

Key losses: Chelsea Boucher, Jenna Bosse, Mariah Mosher.Outlook: Hebron has 13 players returning. Brown is a seasoned goaltender. Wyman and Teixeira should control the midfield while Jurek, Kinens and Conrad will lead the attack up front. Myrick, Klassen, Grimmer and Randall played together in the back last year and came on strong down the stretch. Hebron has the makings of another solid team that should contend for another MAISAD crown.

Coach: Kurt Swanbeck (third year)Last year’s record: 10-5-1, MAISAD Champions, lost in New England Class C quarterfinals.Returning players: Seniors — Jaime Bastos Mendes, Matt Bouchard, Javier Lopez del Hierro, Dan Warner, Kale Johnstone, Joe Ford; Juniors

Coach: Cindy Goddard (24th year)Last year’s record: 5-7-2Returning players: Seniors — Abigail Egan (G), Amanda Hanning (MF), Meaghan Feely (B), Gabby Goodall (B); Juniors — Nicole Godbout, Sholie Hanscom, Erica Jackson, Jesse Murch, Tayla Smedberg, Caitlin Bernier; Sophomores — Shannon Fillebrown (G), Abby Angevine.Key losses: Ashley West, Heather Verrier, Dominique Hutchins, Mikeckney Ward, Kali Dixon.Promising newcomers: Senior — Morgan Wilson; Juniors — August Abbott, Kaitlynn Drake;

Sophomores — Amber Jenkins, Whitney Morse; Freshman — Sydney Jackson.Outlook: Oxford Hills has consistently shown the ability to compete with the top teams in the rugged KVAC. After a building year in 2011, that appears to be the case again. The Vikings have some key returning players and are primed to pick up more wins and higher seed in the Eastern Class A tournament. Defense should be solid with seniors Egan, Feely and Goodall providing the last line of resistance and Hanning providing skill at both ends of the field.Coach’s comment: “The team's strong point is the willingness to work together both on and off

the field. We are in strong league. Every game is a challenge.” — Coach Cindy Goddard.

Coach: Mike Grace (ninth year)Last year's result: Qualified for statesReturning athletes: Seniors — Dylan Cox, Devin Foster; Juniors — Matt Michaud, Ben Morton, Dalton Rice, Briana Morris, Dalton Rice, Thomas Lentz; Sophomores — Chris Burns, Cam Letourneau, Keith Whitman.Key losses: Taylor Brown, Zach Turmenne.Promising newcomers: Freshmen — Zach Kim,

Travis Townsend.Outlook: The Vikings are looking for a promising season with a battery of experienced seniors and juniors who offer a great deal of experience.Coach's comment: “The (Dylan) Cox kid was a varsity player as a sophomore and he is coming back. I am very excited about the season.” — Coach Mike Grace.

Coach: Chris Morin (fifth year)Last year's record: 4-10Returning players: Seniors — Kenny Lynch (FB), Colin Chase (FB), Connor Beebe (MF), Adam Nolan (FB); Junior — Matt Beauchesne (F).Key losses: Austin Chute (MF), Aaron Crockett (G),

Christian Cummings (FB), Zach Kimball (MF), Brian Lynch (MF), Mac Menezes (MF), Nick Record (MF), Jacob Sutcliffe (FB), Tyler Truman (FB)., Benin Laliberte (MF), Spenser Newman (F), Harrison Turner (MF), Ian Vail (FB).Promising newcomers: Seniors — Dakota Durgin (MF), Ben Brown (MF); Juniors — Eric Martinez (F), Matt Cipollosso (FB), Sam Donatelli (G), Kelynn Laliberte (MF), Caleb Fillebrown (MF), RJ Card

(MF), Luke Davidson (MF), Ryan Samson (MF), Walter Feeney (FB); Sophomore — Joey Gallant (F); Freshmen — Andrew Fleming (FB), Jake Beauchesne (G).Outlook: Beauchesne was a KVAC all-star last fall and leads a small group of veteran players. The Vikings have 14 new players and the inexperience to go with it.Coach's comment: “With a large influx of new players, we will be young and athletic and look to improve as the season progresses.” — Coach Chris Morin.

Coach: Mark Soehren (first year)Last year’s record: 1-8Returning players: Seniors — Ryan Godin (QB/WR/S), Jordan Croteau (FB/LB), Dexter Turner (FB/DE), Bill Leahy (G/DE).Key losses: Josh McDonald (WR/DE), Caleb Archer (OL/DL), Kyle Rainey (OL/LB), Tyler Hamlin (OL/LB), Logan Sanborn (QB/WR/DB), Ryan Creney (S/RB), Brandon Campbell (T/DT).Promising newcomers: Seniors — Tim Hutchinson (G), Ben Bowie (WR/DB); Juniors — Nick Bowie (QB/DB), Ethan Childs (RB/FS); Sophomore —

Brady LaFrance (QB).Outlook: Soehren is the Vikings' third different coach in as many seasons. There's continuity, as the former Poland boss was an assistant in 2011. He has installed his preferred flexbone option attack and has some flexible parts in place to run it. Godin may move from receiver to quarterback this season, with Nick Bowie and LaFrance also likely to see time under center. Godin and Croteau are tireless tacklers on defense. Oxford Hills has won only one game each of the past three seasons, all against Mt. Ararat. Defense kept the Vikings competitive in most contests a year ago and likely will lead this season's quest for upward mobility in the PTC.

Coach’s comment: “The strength of the team again is the defense. Not just because we’re putting in a

new offense, but because of their experience.” — Coach Mark Soehren.

Coach: Cortney Lefebvre (third year)Last year's record: 8-4-4, lost in Eastern A semifinalReturning players: Seniors — Abbie Eastman (F), Colleen Stauder (MF), Jo Murch (FB), Alyssa Andrews (FB); Juniors — Coley Zufelt (F), Haylee Chute (MF), Ellex Loper (F), Crystal West (MF); Sophomores — Mikayla Morin (MF), Lauren Emery (FB)Key losses: Kiersten Zufelt (MF), Danielle Allen (MF), Abby Morin (MF), Lacey Landrey (MF), Elizabeth Libby (FB), Breanna Martin (G), Samantha Hatch (G), Megen Wright (FB), Megan

McNelly (MF).Promising newcomers: Juniors — Bryanne Starbird (MF), Joell Till (MF/FB), Kira Dube (FB); Sophomores — Savanna Morin (FB), Paige Garcia (FB); Samantha Bickford (G), Allyssa Hanley (F).Outlook: The Vikings return 10 players from a club that reached the semifinals last fall. Morin was an all-KVAC player in the midfield. Murch, Emery and Andrews anchor the defense while Eastman, Zufelt and Loper pace the front line.Coach's comment: “It is definitely hard losing nine seniors, who were great players, but I look forward to this season with the returning players and the promising newcomers we have. We are coming

off a great 2011 season and look to continue that momentum in 2012.” — Coach Cortney Lefebvre.

Coach: Dick Mynahan (25th year)Last year’s record: 7-3, lost in Western C semifinalReturning players: Seniors — Casey Garrison (T/DT), Ryan Brewer (C), Mason Haley (TB/LB), Brandon Hovey (TE/CB), Ryan Riordan (QB/CB), Kyle Sheehan (FB/MLB); Juniors — Quincy Thompson (TB/WB), Jordan Torres (RB).Key losses: Zach Splude (RB/QB/LB), Tyler Greene (HB/DB), Aaron Boyington (WR/DB), Dalton Dunphy (OL/DL), Cody Donovan (OL/DL), Chase Hunter (OL/DL), Cam Graf (WR/FS).Promising newcomers: Senior — Devin Pesce (NG); Sophomore — Joe Philbrick (G/LB).Outlook: The strengths of last year's team, back f ield dept h, quick ness a nd defense,

should carry over into this season. But like last year's team, the Greyhounds will have to overcome some adversity, as five starters will be academically ineligible for the first two games. Haley, Thompson and Torres all bring explosiveness to the running and passing games, while Sheehan picks up the tough inside yards. With more size than usual up front, the

Greyhounds could be tough to stop on the ground. Sheehan leads a stout defense that will have to be particularly stingy in September.Coach’s com ment : “W hen ever yone i s available, we do have a good-looking backfield. It could certainly be our strength.”— Coach Dick Mynahan.

Coach: Jake Gentle (fifth year)Last year’s record: 10-4-1, lost in Western C quarterfinalReturning players: Seniors — Kayla Angelico (F), Gabrielle Ouellette (FB), Chelsea Huston (F), Chantal Bisson (FB), Rachel Ball (MF), Jordan Kates (FB); Juniors — Shantal MacWhinnie (MF), Paige Galligan (MF), Jenna Clifford (F), Courtney Martel (FB); Sophomores — Kailyn Hill (FB), Drew Stewart-Staples (MF), Loren Grant (MF).Key losses: Haley Eck (FB), Brooke Lawrence (MF), Katherine Lemieux (FB), Sarah Giraldo (FB), Alexa Harmon (MF).

Promising newcomers: Freshmen — Katherine George (F), Abby Gamache (MF).Outlook: The Greyhounds have some holes to fill after losing a small group of veterans, including Lawrence, an all-conference pick in the midfield.

Lisbon is trying to fill a vacated keeper position. The team still has some talent up front and some solid play in the midfield and back. That should keep the Greyhounds in position to challenge most teams in the MVC and battle for a playoff

spot.Coach’s comment: “We’re trying to f i l l in different positions and everyone has to step their game up a little more if we want to stay at the level we were.” — Coach Jake Gentle.

Coach: Hank Fuller (25th year)Last year’s results: Boys — eighth in Western C; Girls — Eighth in Western C.Returning athletes: Boys: Senior — Ben Kates; Junior — Neil Smith; Sophomores — Jeff Willey;

Girls: Senior — Kristen Carter; Junior — Delanie Ouellette.Key losses: Joe Daigle, Meagan Thomas, Angie Bulgin.Promising newcomers: Boys: Sophomore — Cote Brauneis; Freshmen — Nick Harriman, Jorda n Cole ; Girls : Sophomore — Oliv ia Bulgin; Freshmen — Bree Sautter, Adriann White, Caitlyn Bundy, Hannah Berube, Abby

Provencher, Allie Lycette.Outlook: Numbers are down a little bit, but a freshman class that Fuller says is the best he’s had in all of his years of coaching is infusing the roster with a lot of talent. Kates and Willey, who finished in the top 35 at regionals, lead a boys team that should be competitive. Fuller thinks the girls, while young, may have enough upperclassmen to surprise by the end of the year

if they stay healthy.Coach’s comment: “We lack experience and we lack depth, but we don’t lack in athletes or interest or willingness to work.” — Coach Hank Fuller.

Coach: Dan Sylvester (fifth year)Last year’s record: 12-3-1, lost in Western C semifinalReturning players: Seniors — Aaron Halls (F/MF), Brady Fenderson (MF), Brett Williams (MF/FB), Elliot Manocal (FB).Key losses: Morgan Reeves (MF), Justin Grant (FB), Shane Tanguay (G), Joe Osmond (MF), Keenan Grover (FB), Ryan Fairbanks (F), Mike

Graham (FB), Zach Turner (MF), Brent Cyr (MF), Mason Smith (FB).Promising newcomers : Seniors — Logan McGuire (FB), Andrew Gamache (G), Mitch Austin (MF/F), Zach Cribbon (FB); Juniors — Tyler Bard (MF), Cam Ramich (FB), Dillon Clifford (FB), Kyle Whitman (F); Freshmen — Jake Angelico (FB), Austin Bedford (MF/F).Outlook: The Greyhounds graduated 11 seniors, including nine starters. Fairbanks up front and Reeves in the middle were vital to the offense while Grant in back and Tanguay in goal were the anchors of the defense. Lisbon will have a lot of players stepping into larger roles as a result.Coach’s comment: “We are young and inexperi-

enced with varsity playing time. They are work-ing hard and are grinders on the field. Communi-cation will be key to where we finish. Leadership

will have to come from those returning players. We will get stronger as the season goes on.” — Coach Dan Sylvester.

Coach: Andrew Higginis (second year)Last year's record: 6-8-1, lost in Western B preliminary.Returning players: Jack Martell, Will Bartlett, Jake Street, Paul Fotter, Nick Rogers, Josh Kane, Ethan Bruns, Austin Carson, Spencer Harriman, Noah Lobozzo, Jesse Lowell, Tyler St. Pierre, Eric Wilcox.

Key losses: Ian Martell (MF), Craig Moreau (F), Donny Hodges (FB), Travis Hicks (FB), Ben Jordan (FB), Nick Jordan (FB).Prom ising newcomers : Dav id McCa n n, Mitchell Giles, Josh Harper, Casey Myhaver, Tommy Cogswell, Evan Harmer, Brendan McNally, Jesse Ricardi, Alex Cobb.Outlook: Martell was an all-state defender last year and leads strong groups of returning players that hope to build on last year.

Coach: Adam Zukowski (sixth year)Last year's results: Boys — 12th in Western B; Girls —12th in Western B.Returning athletes: Boys: Senior — Dan Rowe; Juniors — Will Shafer, Ian Marshall; Sophomore — Nick Cavanaugh; Girls: Juniors — Audrey Garcia; Grace Ferguson; Sophomore — Makala MacLean.Key losses: Elizabeth Pflugradt.Promising newcomers: Boys: Seniors — Gabe Coleman, Hunter Hodgdon; Junior — Ben Coleman; Sophomore — Lucas Nickerson Freshman — Ben Garcia, Austin Cross; Girls: Freshman — Sam

Shampine.Outlook: Competing in the loaded Western Maine Conference is always a challenge, especially with such an inexperienced

team. At least the Patriots can start with one of the top runners in the conference in Shafer. Improvement from Marshall and Cavanaugh could help. Garcia leads a rebuilding girls team.

Coach's comment: "The boys could get one of the last spots going to states, especially with the young guys helping out a veteran team." — Coach Adam Zukowski.

Coach: Kiaran McCormack (second year)Last year's record: 4-9-1Returning players: Seniors — Haylee Cote (MF), Taylor Darnell (F), Amanda Giggey (FB), Lindsay Nunley (FB), Michele Dehetre (MF), Kristen Labreque (F), Robin Pelkey (FB), Karen Sutherland (FB), Sammie Wilkins (G); Juniors — Julia Martell (F), Julia Ritter (FB), Anna Knapp (FB/G); Sophomores — Anisa Hayman (FB), Caitlin Holmquist (F), Emily Hotham (F), Ashley Morea (F), Maria Valente (FB), Zoe Adams (G).

Key losses: Maggie Chaplin (MF).Promising newcomers : Freshman — Sarah Giggey (MF)Outlook: The Patriots return a solid group of upperclassmen and have McCormack back at the helm after a year away. Gray-NG hopes to build on last year's record and make a push toward a playoff berth.Coach's comment: "The girls played in some close games last season where the result did not go their way. We hope to reverse those scores and surprise some of the other teams in our conference." — Coach Kiaran McCormack.

Coach: Jim Hersom (first year)Last year’s record: 1-7Returning players: Seniors — Josh Greenleaf (RB/DB), Cameron Quintal (G/LB), Aaron Chapman (TE/LB), Pat Dumas (G/DE); Junior — Tyler Hicks (G/LB).Key losses : Josh Bagdon (TE/DE), Colbey Bowen (G/OLB), Roman Latno (QB/OLB), John Greenleaf (HB/S).Promising newcomers: Sophomores — Carson Hodsdon (QB), Adam Dumas (RB/DB).Outlook: A family name synonymous with

Maine high school football takes over at Gray-NG. Former Livermore Falls and Edward Little head coach Hersom inherits a young program that has struggled to get off the ground in Western Class B. G-NG has 35 players but still lacks depth and experience, so good health is a must if the Patriots are going to improve from start to finish. Greenleaf and Dumas should give the running game a nice one-two punch. Hersom's main concern is shoring up a defense that surrendered too many points a year ago. Hicks and Chapman will headline that effort at linebacker.Coach’s comment: “We have to hope and pray

that nobody gets hurt. We only have four juniors, so if any of those frontline players are out, we

have to turn to freshmen.”— Coach Jim Hersom.

Coach: Jen Laberge (third year)Last year’s record: 0-13-1Returning players: Seniors — Emily Harlow (MF), Olivia Rottari (G), Meghan Lafontaine (B); Juniors — Jaime Boulos (MF), Mikayla Trafford (F), Kelsey Pelton (F); Sophomores — Lauren Kilton (F), Hayden Dahms (F), Sarah Carder (MF)Key losses : Jasmine Turner, Bethany Ray,

Natasha Smith, Katie Hutchinson, Ally Kirby.Promising newcomers: Freshmen — Bri Jordan (F), Jenny Holmquist (B).Outlook: The Patriots struggled to generate offense a year ago in the rugged WMC. That should change for two reasons. For starters, forwards Kilton, Trafford, Pelton and Dahms have an additional year under their belts. Then add Jordan, a freshman Laberge believes will be an immediate impact player. Holmquist adds the same youthful skill on the defensive end, and the goalie, Rottari, is a co-captain. G-NG may play in the toughest non-Class A league in the state, but it wouldn't be a surprise to see a healthy

jump in the win column.Coach’s comment: “We need to get some wins

this year. That’s what it's all about. We don’t have any easy games.” — Coach Jen Laberge.

Coach: Jon Blaisdell (second season)Last year’s record: 7-8, lost in Western B preliminaryReturning players: Seniors — Emily Acritelli (FB), Lindsey Allen (FB); Sophomore — Emily Keene (G).Key losses : Seniors — Lex i Deer ing (F),

Samantha Hutchinson (FB).Promising newcomers : Senior — Hannah Chaney; Freshmen — Amber Delaney, Alexa Perkins, Rylee Moore.Outlook: The Phoenix lost the scoring punch of Deering, an all-conference pick, but most of the squad returns. Defense should be solid, and Spruce Mountain will need to find some balance up front. The Phoenix should be a solid club and

competitive with most teams in the MVC.Coach’s comment: “We know we will have to step up offensively and last summer we saw several girls take on that responsibility.” — Coach Jon Blaisdell.

Coach: Bill Acritelli (second year)Last year's record: 5-8-1Returning players: Seniors — Zack Butterfield (MF), Pat Ryan (MF), Owen Timberlake (FB), Devon Autrey (FB), Jon Blais (FB), Alex Hartford (MF), Doug Fournier (MF), Cameron Rose (FB), Greg Whitney (F), Tyson Newman (MF), Caleb Berry (MF), Zach Baillargeon (F); Juniors — Adam Gettle (F), Erik Taylor (MF), Max Moreau (MF), Dustin Jones (G), Jarod Roy (F), Mike Paradis (FB); Sophomores — Andrew Wilcox (MF), Avery Noll (F), Tyler Ritter (MF), Tristen Begin (F), Noah Parker (FB), Alex Kennedy (F), Jacob Luce (FB), Shane Missler (MF), Alex Greenleaf (F).Key losses: Jake Freeman (SK), Eli Capen (FB), Spencer Osgood (FB), Jon Neil (F), Tyler Gervais (G/F), Zach Hodgkin (MF), Ethan Hutchins (G/F), Jacob Roy (MF), Kyle Sawyer (MF), Ian Gingras (MF), Isaac Couture (MF).

Promising newcom-ers : Lucas Preble, Jason Robbins, Jacob Chabot, Trevor Judd, Wyatt Simoneau, Nick Guild, Brian Jones, Ben Nichols, Adam Wilcox, Camden Noll, James Her-lihey.Outlook: The Phoenix are in their second year as a combined program and still sting from last year's near miss of a playoff spot. There's a strong senior group that has never made the playoffs. So Spruce Mountain is hungry and take that next step this fall.Coach’s comment: “I am looking forward to seeing this team compete this year. All the upperclassmen have played together for at least one season. Things should be really looking good. If they play to their potential, they should have fun and have a great season. With the core senior group

we have, they should be able to taste the playoffs in their last year of soccer. They have put in a lot of

effort between summer soccer and preseason and all have set goals to reach.” — Coach Bill Acritelli.

Coach: Bob Remington (first year)Last year's record: Was a club team last fall.Returning players: Senior — Rachael Wheeler (FB); Juniors — Casey Blaszczak (SW), Maisey Griffin (MF), Alyssa Brands (F), Emileigh Parsons (F), Jenny Wakefield (FB); Sophomores —Lakota Monzo (MF), Skyelynn Patten (MF).Promising newcomers: Sophomores — Courtney Currier (G), Savanna Pelletier (MF), Sequiera Lavender (F); Freshmen — Jillian DeLallo (MF), Tori Ryerson (FB), Ana Harren (MF), Maddie Prentice

(F), Shannon Alanskas (FB).Outlook: After being a club team for three seasons, the Rebels hope to be ready for the varsity level. Remington has a solid group back from last year's club, some of which saw some varsity time with the boys' varsity squad.Coach’s comment: “There will be some growing pains, but I expect to be a much improved team by October.” — Coach Bob Remington.

Coach: John Eliot (first year)Last year's record: 1-12-1Returning players: Seniors — Ricky James, Tyler James, David Mason; Juniors — Nik Conrad, Eric Lowell; Sophomores — Liam Gallager, Nick Johnson, Aaron Speakman.Key losses: Casey Thornton (MF), James Piccirillo (FB), Trenton Bonney (FB), Tyler Brown (F), Matt Bolen (MF).Promising newcomers: Junior — Dylan Helms; Sophomore —

Mohammed Al Zubadi; Freshmen — Cameron Rothwell, Jerrah Edwards.Outlook: The Rebels have just six returning players from last year's team. Telstar has just 12 players on the roster to start the season. That will mean players needing to play numerous positions in order to sub for each other.Coach's comment: “Although numbers are low, I am looking forward to the season. I have a great group of players who enjoy the game. We hope to be able to improve our record from last year and be competitive in every game.” — Coach John Eliot.

Coach: Walter Polky (first year)Last year’s record: 4-5, lost in Western Class B quarterfinalsReturning players: Seniors — Kyle Souther (T/MLB), Josh Wilcox (T/DL), Brent Buote (RB), Brandon Hodges (RB/LB); Junior — Alwayne Uter (RB/LB).Key losses: Zach Bonnevie (QB/DB), Bill Calden (RB), Jake Bessey (WR), Nate Shink (WR/DB).Promising newcomers: Senior — Nate Hamblin (QB); Sophomores — Peter Theriault (QB/DB), Matt Vigue (WR/DB).

Outlook: A new look and healthy competition are themes in the Spruce Mountain camp. Polky, the onetime Winthrop star who played Division II college football and was an assistant at Husson and Bates, takes over a team with a roster of 57 that is dominated by sophomores and freshmen. He has installed an option attack that often will run without a huddle. The Phoenix hope to take advantage of their speed with Uter and Vigue. Theriault, who is battling with Hamblin for the starting quarterback role, also is an outstanding runner. Veteran linebackers Hodges and Souther lead the defense. Spruce again encounters a brutal schedule. After exhibitions with Class B title contenders Mt. Blue and Leavitt, the Phoenix play

Greely, Falmouth, Mountain Valley and Wells in the first month.Coach’s comment: “We’re a young team and I’m a

first-year varsity coach. At any one time we could have eight or nine sophomores and two seniors on the field.” — Coach Walter Polky.

Richards, Abbie Hartford, Morgan Fournier, Nicole Hamblin, Amanda Castonguay, Kaylia Brewer, Katie Gordan, Shyanne Turner, Rachel

Reed, Patty Ryan; Freshmen — Grace Ryan, Katelyn Gervais, Bailey Gilboe, Emily Hogan, Kaylee Leclerc.Outlook: The Phoenix enjoyed an undefeated regular season and boasted the MVC player of the year, Ventrella, in their first season as a combined program. Ventrella has graduated along with five key defensive players, but numbers (40 players), energy and expectations remain high. Much of Spruce's returning talent is on the offensive end, so expect the team to be fast and explosive and geared to win high-scoring games.Coach’s comment: “So far the energy level is good, spirits are high and excitement is elevated. This year’s team looks just as promising.” — Coach Jane DiPompo.

Returning athletes: Senior — Colt Davis.Key losses: Danny Whitney, Kyle Peterson, Anthony Dirago, Cody Boivin.Promising newcomers: Senior — Hunter Chase; Juniors — Buddy Williamson, Travis Jackson;

Freshmen — Hunter Williamson, Reggie Westleigh; Freshman — Nancy Huston.Outlook: Key losses and young players means this a rebuilding year, but the Rebels are counting on improving throughout the season to be competitive.

Coach: Kevin Cullen (seventh year)Last year: 15-0, Class C state championship winnersReturning athletes: Seniors — Zack DeBlois, John Marcous, Reid A l len, Grant Carrier, Adam Fogg; Juniors — Andrew Marcous, Mike Richard; Sophomores — Mike Bryant, Manoli Gammaitoni, Matt Keaney, Mitch Lorenz, Connor Rowe.

Key losses: Joe Bryant, Danny Nadeau, Cody Rodrigue, Anthone Fagone, Amanda Turcotte.Promising newcomers: Freshmen — Brendan Donovan, Nicholas Gammaitoni, Brady Landry, Nate Richard, Ridge Servidio.Season outlook: For the Saints, it is a rebuilding year. Zack DeBlois is the only player with varsity experience, but with a strong feeder system, the Saints will be no pushovers.Comments: "My goal is to get better each and every day we are on the golf course." — Coach Kevin Cullen.

Coach: Brian Kay (14th year)Last year’s record: 0-13-1Returning players: Seniors — Katie Bosse (MF), Katie Naum (MF), Melissa Murray (FB); Juniors — Callie Greco (F), McKenna Lachapelle (FB), Monica Stewart (MF), Brittany Eastman (F); Sophomores — Emma Samson (F), Jessica Boulet (sweeper), Johanna Cullenberg (MF)Key losses: Jenna Fongemie, Ali Conley, Kaitlyn Roy, Abby Jansen.Promising newcomers : Senior — Amanda

Cortolino (G); Freshmen — Courtney Desmarais (MF), Olivia Chase (F), Taylor Fillebrown (F), Autumn Martel (F).Outlook: Despite being kept out of the win column, the Saints missed the playoffs by only a fraction of a Heal point in 2011. With a 2-1 win over perennial MVC power Telstar in its first scrimmage, St. Dom's appears to have turned the corner. Greco and Eastman should provide the scoring punch that has been missing in recent seasons. Cortolino, although in her first year as a varsity goaltender, has looked sharp. The Saints will play most of their home games in the second half of the season, a quirk that should bode well for their postseason push.

Coach’s comment: “We lost a lot of 1-0 and 2-1 games last year. We just didn’t have the goal scorers. We should be able to step that up this

year.” — Coach Brian Kay.

Coach: Marty Bressler (second year)Last year's record: 12-1-2, lost in Western C quarterfinalReturning players: Seniors — Will Desmaris (MF), Jordan Charest (MF), Zak Johnson (MF), Bobby St. Hilaire (FB), Nick Hatfield (MF), Billy Soper (FB), Tyler Furtado (F), Aaron Schmitz (FB), Jon Hudson (MF), Eric Link (MF); Juniors — Chase Hainey (FB), Robbie Pallozzi (MF), Calvin Stewart (F), T.J. Sawyer (G).Key losses: Cam Hainey (G), Austin Gervais (FB), Chris Finlay (FB), Matt Roy (MF), Troy Haefele (MF), David Dean (FB), Josu Asun (F).Promising newcomers: Juniors — Parker Hachey (MF), Justin Curtis (FB); Freshmen — Austin Roy (F/MF), Ryan Lutrzykowski (MF).Outlook: The Saints were one of the top teams in the MVC but lost in the conference title game and then lost a heartbreaker in the quarterfinals. Desmaris was an all-state pick in the midfield and leads a strong senior class that should help keep the Saints among the top teams in Western C.

Coach's comment: “Our advancement this season will depend on the leadership of the

seniors. We have potential but need to gel as a team.” — Coach Marty Bressler.

Coach: Kathy Little (10th year)Last year's record: 14-4-0, lost in Class C state championshipReturning players: Seniors — Sarah Trott (FB), Emily Poulin (FB), Kayla McLellan (MF), Kelley McLellan (F), Katie Emery (FB/G), Courtney Costello (FB); Junior — Marley Byrne (MF); Sophomores — Emily Caron (MF), Kirsten Conner, (MF).Key losses: Mary Caron (G), Emily Conner (FB), Stephanie Costello (MF), Meghan Hargreaves (F), Dayle Jordan (FB), Emily Rioux (FB), Becky

Trytek (MF), Autumn Duguay (FB), Jasmine Hussey (MF), Nicole Keaney (FB), Nicole Levesque (MF).Promising newcomers: Junior — Kelly Pomer-leau (G); Sophomore — Samantha Ladd (FB), Faith Grady (F); Freshman — Emma Byrne (F)Outlook: The Saints lost some key talent from

last year's team that won its first regional title and lost in overtime in the state game. St. Dom's still return a solid nucleus of experience. Byrne, Kayla McLellan, Caron and Conner provide a solid midfield while Kelley McLellan leads the charge up front. Costello, Poulin and Trott will shore up a defense hit hard by graduation.

Coach’s comment: “We look to be competitive and make a run at the post season, even though graduating 11 seniors and having numbers not being what we expected.” — Coach Kathy Little.

Coach: Tom Menendez (11th year)Last year's results: Boys — 10th in Western C; Girls — Fifth in Western C.Returning athletes: Boys: Senior — Tyler Horsford; Juniors — Ben Bailey, Stewart Buzzell, Marcques Houston, Dylan Thombs; Girls: Juniors — Tiffany Pease, India Pickett, Amanda Anair; Sophomores — Becki Bryant, Emily Szothkowski, Jordyn Mann.Key losses: Matt Bryant, Brian Nugent, MacKenzie Kelley.Promising newcomers: Boys: Sophomore — Alex Turbide; Freshmen —Nick Sanborn, Luke Thombs; Girls: Sophomores — Ashleigh Hartford, Becca Fernandez; Corey Knowles; Freshman — Hannah Gray.Outlook: With only one senior on a roster boasting over two dozen

runners, the Mustangs may seem poised for another rebuilding year, but that doesn't mean they won't contend in the MVC. Pease, Pickett, Mann and Bryant all qualified for states last year. Bailey and Buzzell lead a strong junior class bolstered by the return of Houston, who was hampered by a knee injury last year.

Coach’s comment: “It’s a question if they can peak at the right time. They’ve got a big row to hoe, but they’re doing the work.”— Coach Tom Menendez.

Coach: Keith Weatherbie (third year)Last year’s results: Boys — 14th in Western C; Girls — Sixth in Western C.Returning athletes : Boys: Juniors — Tom Theriault, Mac L'Abbe; Sophomore — Ryan Spooner; Girls: Seniors — Darby Frost, Hannah Tyce; Junior — Ellen Tuttle, Meagan Ring; Sophomores — Emily Carney, Alexis Laliberte.Key losses: Patrick LaChance, Sarah Small,

Colleen Donovan.Promising newcomers: Boys: Sophomore — Kenton Ernst; Freshman — David Tuttle; Girls: Sophomore — Izzy Grencer; Freshman — Clara Tyce.Outlook: The Saints are pointing to the future, but the girls, with four of their top five and five of their top seven back, could make some noise in the MVC. Tuttle finished 26th in Class C and Ring and Laliberte qualified for states last year. Carney could join them next October. The boys are rebuilding around Theriault and Ernst.Coach’s comment: "The girls are going to be pretty good. There isn't a senior among the

scorers." — Coach Keith Weatherbie.

Promising newcomers: Sophomores — Kasey Clement, Mason Clement, Josh Neal, Casey Smith, Sherman Spears.Outlook: The Mustangs lost some veteran talent but have ample experience back to help this team make another push up the Western C standings.Coach’s comment: “Our expectations are high. With the senior leadership of Russell Neal, Drew McFarren and Devin West, we expect to make a playoff spot. Sophomore keepeer Casey Smith will need to continue developing. Bates,

the Clement’s, and Neal will be counted on to help control the midfield and score while two-time all-conference player Kyle Fletcher will be

Leavitt's season hinges on how well the newcomers adjust in their varsity roles.Coach’s comment: “We are down five or six players. I think we will go at least .500. I am looking for a fun season.”— Coach Harry Haylock.

Coach: Isaiah Davis (12th year)Last year's record: 4-10-1, lost in Western B preliminaryReturning players: Seniors — Billy Clarke (FB), Christian Fullerton (F), Brandon Morissette (MF), Ben Ramser (FB); Juniors — Jon Belanger (FB), Evan Parquette (FB), Anthony Tedesco (MF), Matt Thibodeau (MF), Connor Violette (MF); Sophomores — Ben Fullerton (G), Derek Gosselin (FB), Madison Noel (MF), Tyler Roux (F).Key losses: Nate Miller (FB), Zack Fullerton

Leavitt returns 13 players, including seven starters from that squad. The Hornets have been building off last year's late momentum during the off season and are primed to see what can happen this fall.Coach's comment: “This team has been working extremely hard since last season ended, and the

level of focus so far in the preseason has been great. Our confidence is high, and if we continue to play well as a team, I think we could really

surprise some people.” — Coach Isaiah Davis.

Coach: Chris Cifelli (seventh year)Last year's record: 8-4-3, lost in Western B quarterfinalReturning players: Seniors — Jenna Cote (F), Alex Hudner (FB), Sydney Nadeau (FB), Mariah Treadwell (F), Desiree Tweedie (MF); Juniors — Monica Beaule (MF), Taylor Benson (FB), Kelsea Marschall (F), Emily Perkins (F), Melissa Richardson (F),

Tatianna Sierra (MF); Sophomores — Livie Gilbert (FB), Emily Miller (FB).Key losses: Sarah Frost (FB), Tori Zupancic (MF), Taren McGray (MF), Sarah Kyllonen (F).Promising newcomers: Seniors — Coleen Clarke (MF), Kelly Harris (FB); Freshmen — Liliana Cousineau (F), Angela Daigle (G), Kristen Morrisette (FB), Amanda Poulin (MF).Outlook: Coming off another strong season, the Hornets look to continue

that success. Cote, Treadwell and Tweedie are all experienced up front while Hudner and Nadeau bolster the back. Leavitt should be solid once again and be in the Western B playoff hunt.Coach's comment: “We have a nice mixture of experience and youth. Our success this season will hinge on how quickly we can gel as a team to meet our preseason expectations.”— Coach Chris Cifelli.

Coach: Mike Hathaway (11th year)Last year’s record: 11-1, lost in Class B state championshipReturning players: Seniors —Brian Bedard (slot/DB), Josh Bunker (TE/LB), Brandon Collins (DE), Tom Langelier (T/NT), Devin McMahan (G/DT); Juniors — Nate Coombs (slot/CB), Sam Green (SE), Levi Morin (C/LB), Matt Powell (T/DT).Key losses : Jordan Hersom (QB/DB), Jake Ouellette (RB/LB), Ian Durgin (slot/DB), Oscar Rodriguez (slot/DB), Dan Sleeper (TE/NT),

Jack Griffin (OL/DE), Jake Posik (OL/DT), Tyler Vallee (TE/DE), Brandon MacDonald (TE/DE).Promising newcomers: Senior —Kevin Russell (slot/TB/DE), Tyler Lessard (DL), Da lton Duncan (TE); Juniors — Tyler Chicoine (QB), Josh Faunce (TB), Matt Melanson (SE), Matt Child (G/DT), Conor O'Malley (LB), Clay Rowland (DB), Nate Rouseeau (slot/DB), Scott Sleeper (TE/LB), Seth Adams (DB); Sophomore — Adam Poulin (RB), Mitchell Davis (TE).Outlook: Nine starters return for the three-time defending PTC champions. But that does not include the two men the offense ran through the last two years, Hersom and Ouellette. Chicoine

and Faunce will have those big shoes to fill, and will lead a skill position group that isn't as big this year but boasts speed, depth and a game-breaker in Bedard. By contrast, the offensive line has plenty of size and experience. The interior of the defensive line isn't as experienced, but the

ends and linebackers, led by Bunker and Collins, will be a strength. Bedard and Coombs highlight a talented secondaryCoach’s comment: “We like our depth and definitely like our speed at the skill spots.”— Coach Mike Hathaway.

Coach: Joel Stoneton (ninth year)Last year’s record: 3-5Returning players: Seniors — Cam Armstrong (C/DT), Zach Nadeau (G/MLB), Danny Moody (RB/OLB); Juniors — Jared Hanson (QB), Zach Glazier (TB/LB), Drew Stratton (WR/CB).Key losses: Tyler Reeve (OL/LB), Chris Bowers (OL/DL), Robin Cook (RB/DL).Promising newcomers: Senior — Casey Nadeau (T/DE), Alex Ingram (CB), Sam Vigue (T/DT);

Sophomore — Dakota Carter (WR), Mario Meucci (TE).Outlook: The Ramblers took a rare break from the playoffs last year, but they believe playing in a revamped Campbell Conference against schools

closer to their own size will help them get back. It will also require the offensive line jelling and the continued development of one of the league's top backfields in Moody, Glazier and Hanson. Stratton gives Hanson a big-play receiver. Moody and Glazier

are disruptive forces on the defense.Coach’s comment: “We’ve got a lot of athletes and if we can get some people up front to step up, we’ll be competitive with teams in the league.”— Coach Joel Stoneton.

Coach: Lonney Steeves (fifth year)Last year: Finished third in the Mountain Valley Conference.Returning athletes: Junior — Zach Steele; Sophomores: Taylor Morang, Adam Hachey.

Returning athletes : Monmouth Academy: Juniors — Robert Vickers, D.J. McHugh.Key losses: Tyler FosterProm ising newcomers : Sen ior — Mitch Katchen; Junior — J.J. Jensen; Sophomores — Joe Fay, Ben Caprara.

Promising newcomers: Monmouth Academy: Senior — Layne Burnham; Junior — Phil Rowe.Outlook: Graduation has been kind to the Ramblers, who lost only one player. A group of experienced underclassmen should steer Winthrop to another promising year.

Coach’s comment: “It’s going to be an interesting year because of the new format.” — Coach Lonney Steeves.

Coach: Dave Valle (first year)Last year's record: 0-12-2Returning players: Seniors — Peter Michelsen (FB), Justin Lapointe (F), Aaron St. Pierre (F), Tom Pietroski (FB), Declan Chu (FB), Dalton Cummins (F); Juniors — Jake Valle (MF), Ben Hall (FB); Sophomores — Pat Ouellette (F), Judson Cobb (FB), Kellen Glaser (MF), Nolen Howe (F), Will Grimes (FB), Kevin Chamberland (MF), Matt Sekerak (G).

Coach: Dustin Williamson (fifth year)Last year's results: Boys — 14th in Western B; Girls —Eighth in Western B.Returning athletes: Boys: Senior — Tim Enos; Junior — Colby Varney; Sophomore — Nick Bachelder; Girls: Senior — Maddie Wiegman; Juniors — Abby Chase, Alicia Labbe, Michaela Therrien; Sophomores — Allison Heikkinen,

Olivia Mallar, Brooke Varney.Key losses: Lucy Knowlton.Promising newcomers: Boys: Senior — David Hersom; Sophomores —Noah Castonguay, Drew Emond, Harrison Knowlton; Freshmen — Nate Allen, Mitchell Morrison, Robert Savignano; Girls: Freshmen — Julia Dillingham, Maya Merrill, Ashley Pratt.Outlook: Numbers have doubled for the Hornets, giving them hope of competing in the KVAC.

Wiegman finished 13th in Class B last year and is coming off a great summer. The hope is the junior class, led by Labbe, and a promising sophomore class can give them enough to qualify for states. Enos is the top runner on the boys' side.Coach's comment: “With the new faces and experience, that combination is going to bode well for this season.”— Coach Dustin Williamson.

Coach: Wanda Ward-MacLean (29th year)Last year’s record: 10-4-1, lost in Western Class B quarterfinalsReturning players: Senior — Morgan Shaw (MF/B); Juniors — Cher yl Fichter (F), Brianna DeGone (F), Meaga n Dow (MF), Em i ly Shaw

( MF/F), A n n ie Ca stong uay (B); Sophomores — Sadie Royer (MF/F), Emma Martineau (MF).Key losses: Amanda Jordan (MF), Casey Fichter (F), Kayla Royer (B), Taylor Eells (G), Adrianna Newton (F), Cassie Griffin (B).P rom i si ng ne wc omer s : Ju n ior s — Sierra Santamango (G), Taylor Ouellette (F/MF), Isabel Smith (B), Kendra Gilbert (MF/B); Sophomores — Mikayla Maillette (B), Addison Gagnon (B), Cassidy Comeau (MF/F); Fresh men — Cha ntel Eel ls (B), Kierstan Leclerc (F).

Outlook: Leav itt graduated nine players but returns just as many who saw significant time in another run to the postseason. The Hornets have strength and depth on the forward line and in the midfield. Santomango is a first-year goalie and many of the backs directly in front of her are new to the varsity level. Leavitt tackled a tough preseason schedule, including trips to Yarmouth for a play day and to perennial Class A champion Skowhegan. In KVAC Class B, Belfast, Nokomis and Mt. View are among the schools Leavitt hopes to challenge for

league supremacy.Coach’s comment : “A l l t he k ids who are returning played a lot. We

have significant experience at every position except goalie.”— Coach Wanda Ward-MacLean.

Buckfield lost some experience but have a group of returning players that could help the team improve.Coach’s comment: “We have a lot of players that will have to take on new roles this season. Team chemistry and work ethic will have a big impact on us reaching our goals. Our goal is to improve our record this season and qualify for the playoffs.”— Coach Travis Magnusson.

Coach: Ed Van Tassel (first year)Last year’s results: Boys — Fifth in Class C; Girls — Did not field team.Returning athletes: Boys: Senior — Marc Hachey, Dylan Berney; Sophomores — Ben Allen, Nick Charest, Isaac Johnson; Girls: Junior — Molly Kieltyka.

Key losses: Kameron Souza.Prom isi ng newcomers : Boy s : Fresh men — Mathias Deming, Nick Dwelle, Michael Neumann; Girls: Freshmen — Angel Abbott, Kaitlin Souza, Alison Berube, Ellie Choate.Outlook: Van Tassel, Winthrop's nordic skiing coach, takes over a small but talented team that should contend in the MVC and, if they stay healthy, beyond. Hachey and Berney finished 16th and 24th, respectively, at states last year, while Allen, Charest and Johnson all qualified

as freshmen. Kieltyka qualified for states as a freshman but had to sit out with an injury last year. Abbott leads a strong freshman class.Coach’s comment: “There’s not much depth, but the talent is pretty good.”— Coach Ed Van Tassel.

Coach: Marc Fortin (10th year)Last year's record: 1-13Returning players: Seniors — Caitlin Allen, Heidi Lachance, Breanna Cox, Amber Pritchard; Ju n iors — K r iss y Doug ht y, Abby Hel m ; Sophomores — Hailey Eason, Annie Guerette, Nicole Macmil lan, Li l ly Beauregard, Abbi Rice, Hope Dunn, Gabby Mitchneck, Michaela Ketchen.

Key losses: Amy Belanger, Alison Skerak, Lauren Selwood, Corena Richards.Promising newcomers: Sophomore — Brooke Taylor; Freshmen — Hayley Choate, Tessie Moddy, Adrienne Tracy, Jess Tozier, Skye Kierstead.Outlook: The Ramblers have won just three games in the last two seasons and hope to rebuild into a competitive club. There's a solid group returning with a promising sophomore class and incoming freshmen.

Coach: Sharon Coulton (32nd year)Last year’s record: 13-3-2, Eastern Class C championsReturning players: Seniors — Mary-Claire Blanchard (F), Shauna Carlson (MF), Elizabeth Glover (MF), Lauren Kaiser (F), Jessica Scott (B); Juniors — Jessica Ames (MF), Alyssa Arsenault (G), Micaela Hajduk (B/MF), Rachel Ingram (LW), Emmah Spahr (F); Sophomore — Danielle Hutchinson (B).Key losses: Nikki Burgess (B), Paige Wood (B).

Promising newcomers: Senior — Quahnah Cummings (B): Junior — Cat Ouellette (utility).Outlook: Winthrop stormed the state final with a young team in 2011, losing 1-0 to NYA after dominating play through long stretches of the game. The Ramblers are motivated to finish the job. Kaiser and Ingram were the team's leading

scorers a year ago. Arsenault is stellar in goal. Senior captains Blanchard, Scott and Kaiser are four-year contributors. The return of Cummings and Ouellette after a year away will give the Ramblers an additional boost. It looks like a strong overall year for the MVC, which should only help Winthrop as it prepares for another

playoff run.Coach’s comment: “Since such a large portion of the team is back, there has been a lot of talk about (last season) and wanting to have another successful postseason.”— Coach Sharon Coulton.

The Falcons will try to build off that experience without most of the girls responsible for the journey. Only three players are back. Burgess was the leading scorer and will be asked to lead the offense again. Fryover inherits an increased role at center midfield. Swett steps into the big shoes of Emily Gallant, now playing at Saint

Joseph's College. The two freshman should make an immediate i mpac t . T hey're a you ng g r oup, but the Falcons should win their share and challenge for a playoff berth.Coach’s comment: “I expect we'll win some games and I expect we’ll get better.”— Coach Melissa Forbes.

Coach: Jim Aylward (24th year)Last year’s record: 9-2, lost in Western Class B championshipReturning players: Seniors — Matt Hosie (TB/FB/DE), Jake Theriault (TB/DB), Ryan Nicols (QB/DB), Colin Merrill (FB/MLB), Scott Nicols (OL/LB), Rya n St ick ney (OL/DE), Sa ntos Rodriguez (OL/DL).Key losses: Ryan Glover (G/LB), Izaak Mills (RB/LB), Taylor Carey (TE/DE), Devon Hamel (OL/DL), Justin White (T/DT), Nate Nicols (OL/DL), Zak Radcliffe (QB/DB), Isaac Roberts (E/DB),

Kyle Duguay (TB/OLB).Promising newcomer: Senior — Dominic Haines (WR/QB/DB).Outlook: The Falcons have played in 17 of the 23 Western B championship games since the school formed in 1989, including the past eight. There's no reason to expect that tradition to change, although Mountain Valley must avoid injury and eligibility issues because the customary depth isn't there. The 54-man roster is thin with juniors and seniors. There are plenty of playmakers left, however, including Hosie, one of two 1,000-yard rushers for the Falcons a year ago. Theriault moves from f lanker to the

backfield. Rodriguez and Merrill are back to anchor the defense. Haines was the starting QB at Telstar a year ago and will contribute in a variety of roles. Aylward doesn't see an overwhelming favorite in Western B, but his team is capable of evolving into that role again.

Coach’s comment: “We have to create our own depth with about 13 kids. we don’t have wave after wave like we have in the past.”— Coach JIm Aylward.

Coach: Jason Perreault (second year)Last year's record: 4-9-1Returning players: Seniors — Victoria Giberson, Sarah Soubble, Darbi Brown, Autum Koch, Abigail Day; Juniors — Stephanie Cushman, Shannon Laubauskas, Mariah Witas, Kristin Gould, Katie Puiia, Katherine Mills, Katherine Collette, Kaitlyn Virgin, Elizabeth Adley, Brena Brown, Abbey Pinkham; Sophomores — Abby Parent, Adelle Oswald, A licia Provencher, Eliza Buccina, Jena Plourde, Karissa Bickford, Samantha Higley, Sarah Klein, Taylor Smart.Key losses: Kaitlyn Armstrong (G), Chrissy

Briggs (F), Jamaica Ford (F), Ari Glover (ST), Hannah LaPointe (F), Kirstin Ridge (MF), Mercedes Gurney (FB).Promsing newcomers: Freshman — Karen Flaherty (G)Outlook: The Falcons have a solid group of returning players back to help improve upon last year. Mountain Valley has a defense built around upperclassmen. So that should be the club's strength. The Falcons should also have some depth and athleticism that might help them compete in the MVC.Coach's comment: "We're looking forward to seeing this exciting, energetic, good team. This is going to be a fun team to watch this season." — Coach Jason Perreault.

Senior — Cami Denny; Sophomore — Summer Kime; Freshmen — Sabrena Daoud, Hateya Levesque.Outlook: The Cougars emerged as an MVC girls power and have virtually everyone back. Bolduc finished fifth at states, where Conant and Ludic also had top-40 times. A strong showing at regionals and states wouldn't suprise anyone.

A breakthrough season by Tashney and contributions from some of the newcomers could help the boys become a factor in the conference.Coach’s comment: “The girls are looking very promising.”— Coach Gunnar Bradbury.

Coach: Mark Lopez (fourth year)Last year's record: 6-6-3, lost in Western C preliminary.Returning players : Seniors — Jared Clukey (F), Jay Chenard (FB).Key losses: Parker Kennedy (F), Caulin Logan (FB), Josh Beedy (G), Chris Murphy (FB), Noah Zanella (F), Alex Larochelle (FB), Robert Rivers (F).P r om i si ng ne wc omer s : Ju n ior s — Chris Daly (F), Arthur Ryan (FB), Colin McCarthy-Edwards (FB); Sophomores —

Tristan Dyer (G), Trevor Brackley (F).O u t l o o k : T h e R o a d r u n n e r s graduated 12 from last year and have a young squad. Mt. Abram still hopes this team can improve and make a push for the playoff berth down the stretch.Coach’s comment: “I am looking forward to working with this young group of players. We will have some growing pains, but I believe this team will come together and compete for a playoff spot.” — Coach Mark Lopez.

Coach: Marc Keller (12th year)Last season's record: 7-7-1, lost in Western C preliminary.Returning players: Seniors — Lyndsay Beane (FB), Jenie Rowland (FB), Staci Plog (G/MF), Lily Taylor (FB), Mikayla Luce (MF), Jill Howard (MF), Taylor Henderson (MF), Emma Houston (MF); Juniors — Elise Luce (FB), Ivy Mitman (MF), Allie Lopez (G); Sophomore — Katie Jordan (F).

Key losses: Sam Werzanski (F), Emily Eames (FB), Brianna Daly (FB), Ashley Shurtleff (FB), Brittany Parling (G).Promising newcomers : Senior — Raven Riendeau (FB); junior — Alex Harnden (F); Sophomore — Mckenzie Tyler (MF).Out look : T he Road r u n ners ret u r n a n experienced group from last year's playoff team. Mt. Abram should be strong defensively and in the middle. The Roadrunners will have to find some scoring punch but should be an up-and-coming team to watch in Western C.

Coach’s comment: “This should be an exciting year. This team has developed a lot of skill and soccer awareness. If this group continues to

improve as much and as quickly as they have in the past, we should become a playoff-caliber team.” — Coach Marc Keller.

Hebert, Britney Ellis.Key losses: Betsy Noyes, Sam Blanchette, Alyssa Charity, Megan Jordan.Promising newcomers: Ellie Wainwright, Emma Lueders, Megan Morrison, Kelsey Hutchins.Outlook: Dirigo returns a talented junior class. The Cougars encounter the projected top three teams in the MVC in the opening week. They hope to use those games to build momentum

for a playoff push later in the season. Dirigo has dedicated the season to Dani Ranger, a member of the Class of 2013 who died in an automobile accident only days after the conclusion of the 2011 campaign.Coach’s comment: “We can play with the best of them when we put it all together. Getting them to do that consistently is the challenge.”— Coach Gretchen Errington.

Coach: Jack Rioux (third year)Last year's record: 11-4, lost to Hall-Dale in Western C quarterfinals.Returning players: Seniors — Chad Snowman (F), Travis Frost (MF), Trevor Newman (MF), Michael Chow (G), Hunter Ross (F), Loren Keim (F); Juniors — Brian Volkernick (FB), Trevor Statham (F), Aighdan Weishar (FB), Saw yer Smith (MF), Jason Baldinelli (FB); Sophomore — Yossapat Chanarune (F).Key losses: Cody St. Germain (MF), Jeremy Briggs (FB), Josh Turbide (FB), Caleb Turner (G),

Garrett Carver (FB).Promising newcomers : Juniors — Et han Cantlin (MF), Sam Rock (FB); Sophomore — Cody Dolloff (MF); Freshmen — Colten Woods (MF), Tim White (F), Randy Deroche (FB/G).Outlook: The Cougars graduated some stellar players on defense and in the midfield that will be tough to replace. Dirigo still returns its top two scorers in Ross and Snowman and have a solid experienced group returning, led by Frost, an all-MVC pick.Coach’s comment: “Our offense should be able to produce some goals, but we need to find out who is going to step up and anchor our defense.

This year in the MVC, we hope to be competitive and fight for a playoff spot just like we have for

the last two seasons.” — Coach Jack Rioux.

Coach: Dave Crutchfield (second year)Last year’s record: 4-5, lost in Western C quarterfinalsReturning players: Seniors — Nelson Pepin (TE/DE), Reilly Lombardi (RB/CB), Justin Jasper (RB/S), Thomas Barnett (FB/LB), Zach White (T/DE), Spencer Trenoweth (RB/LB), Nick Young (RB/CB), Cliff Boynton (OL/DL), Brett Whittemore (QB/CB), Austin Bernard (OL/DL); Juniors — Jack Brown (OL/LB), Heath Hersom (RB/LB); Sophomore — Tyler Frost (FB/LB).Key losses: Ben Holmes (QB/S), Bryan Blackman

(TB/CB), Jake Dowland (FB/LB), Caleb Hall (WB/CB), Chad Cormier (G/LB).Promising newcomers : Juniors — Zach Demars (CB), Joey Hebert (C), Jesse Hutchinson (OL/LB); Sophomore — Kaine Hutchins (end/LB).Out look : T he Couga rs f i nd t hemselves butting heads with the bigger schools in the reconstructed Campbell Conference, meaning they'll have to go through most of the league's top teams to reach the playoffs. The backfield is untested but versatile. The line in front of them remains mostly intact from last year, with Barnett moving from guard to fullback. Crutchfield is asking for more toughness from

his defense, which finished in the middle of the pack in points surrendered last year.Coach’s comment: “We’re young in the backfield

and we plan on sharing the ball a bunch back there.” — Coach Dave Crutchfield.

Bolduc was an all-state pick last year and an offensive force. Dirigo also returns most of its defense and a strong keeper in Deroche.Coach’s comment: “Our goal is to get back to the level that the 2010 and 2011 teams achieved

Coach: Pete Letourneau (first year)Last year's record: 3-14, lost in Western B preliminaryReturning players: Seniors — Sean Deans (MF), Dalton Burns (F), Cody Rolston (SW), Logan Gardner (ST), Chris Jameson (MF), Trever Sampson (MF/F); Juniors — Adam Priest (FB), Zach Perham (MF), Riley Adams (MF/FB), Kyle Ridley (MF); Sophomores — Kaleb Sturtevant (MF), Kam Doyon (F), Kyle Fields (FB/G), Austin Dube (MF/FB).

Key losses: Jamiel Kidd (MF), Caleb Meservy (SK), Caleb Meservy (SK), Kenyon Fraser (ST).Promising newcomers: Senior — Cole Bernier (F/MF); Freshmen — Andy Kraft (MF/F), Kyle Beauparlant (MF), Andrew Davis (FB).Outlook: The Raiders have a new coach for the third year in a row. Oak Hill lost some key players, including Kidd, an all-star up front. The Raiders still have a returning group that has some experience. That should keep them competitive and hoping to build on last year.Coach’s comment: “We have been focusing on working as a team. We are going to continue to work on ball control, retaining possession

and hopefully, put ourselves in a position to be competitive with the other schools in our new

conference.” — Coach Pete Letourneau.

Coach: Michael Pelletier (eighth season)Last year's result: 1-9Returning athletes: Juniors — Jake Martin, Dan Woodard; Sophomores — Matt Gilbert, Matt Arnold, Cam Ayers.Key losses: Josh Martin, Alexis Priest, Casey Vachon.Newcomers : Senior — Tyler Turcotte; Fresh men — Con nor Ni lson, Con nor Drouin.Season outlook: A young Oak Hill is heading into a new conference, the Raiders feel confident they will pick up a couple of wins.Coach’s comment: “We have a very young team with only one senior. We lost some good talent from last year, but most of the returners have shown a lot of improvement. Matt Gilbert and Jake Martin will be the top two players, and the rest of the spots are up for grabs.” — Coach Michael Pelletier.

Coach: Brittany Chadbourne (second year)Last year’s record: 1-12-1Returning players: Seniors — Bri Hodgkins (B), Sandy Wilson (B); Juniors — Emily Akers (B), Bailee Ayers (F), Livannah Vieira (F); Sophomores — Abby Dodge (F), Autumn Frechette (F), Sadie Goulet (F), Heather Hannigan (MF), Michaela Hild (D), Heather Krook (F), Hayley Marshall (F),

Courtney Roy (F), Danielle Samson (MF), Kayla Veilleux (MF).Key loss: Ashley Ward (G).Promising newcomers: Freshmen — Abby Fuller (G), Megan Labbe (G), Brooke Surette (D), Kylee Veilleux (F), Jordan Webster (D), Mikayla Nadeau (D).Outlook: The Raiders may be the youngest team in their new conference, the MVC, with only two seniors and three juniors on the roster. Both goalies are freshmen, and

the team is dominated by a deep sophomore class that has played together for many years at the youth level. Goulet provided much of the scoring punch in 2011, scoring both goals in the Raiders' lone victory over Maranacook. In its first taste of what the new competition will be like, Oak Hill beat Mountain Valley and played well against Dirigo in the preseason.Coach’s comment: “We are excited. Pretty much all the sophomores played a lot last

year.”— Coach Brittany Chadbourne.

Coach: Nicole Camire (second year)Last year's record: 3-9-2Returning players: Seniors — Desiree Johns (MF), Brooke LeBel (MF), Gabby Greene (MF), Kayla Ross (MF), Julie Morneault (F), Alyssa Rouleau (F), Bri Latulippe (FB), Megan Rodrigue (FB), Mikayla May (FB); Juniors — Kelsey Collins (G), Sarah Carpenter (FB); Sophomores — Toni Hart (FB), Vanessa Wright (MF).Key losses : Marrissa Cask in (MF), Darby Beaulieu (F), Jane Marston (FB), Leah Rossi (FB).

Promising newcomers: Juniors — Miranda Marquis (MF), Sara h Barbay (F), Athena Ritcheson (FB), Christi Daigle (FB), Jil lian Holland (MF); Sophomore — Bri Iv y (F); Freshman — Jamie Prue (F).Outlook: The Raiders have a strong group of veterans back and should be a solid club that could make some noise in the MVC this season.Coach’s comment: “We’re really excited about our defense. They are fast and strong. Sarah Carpenter is the one to watch. She has great closing speed and outstanding ball skills. They are in front of Kelsey Collins, our returning keeper. Her skills and instincts seem to get better every day.” — Coach Nicole Camire.

Coach: Stacen Doucette (first year)Last year’s record: 3-6, lost in Western C quarterfinalsReturning players: Seniors — Jon Averill (WR/CB), Aaron Clark (RB/LB), Cody Collingwood (WR/DE), Brian Daniels (OL/DL), Alec Duquette (OL/DE), Richard Fillion (OL/DL), Chris Harlow (OL/DL), Brandon Pot v in (RB/DE), Ca leb Provost (OL/LB), Mike Saunders (OL/DL), Joel Wells (RB/DB), Donnie Vannah (OL/DL); Juniors — Parker Asselin (QB), Bayley Beaulieu (OL/DL), Luke Washburn (TE/DL); Sophomores — Kyle

Flaherty (RB/LB), Alex Mace (RB/LB).Key losses: Cody Depuy (RB/DB), Zach Leeman (OL/DL), Dylan Mulherin (SE/LB).Promising newcomers: Senior — Sam Morin (QB/DE), Juniors — Meagan Beckles (OL/DL), Garrett Labbe (OL/DL), Ryan Stevens (WR/DB), Carlton Banton (WR/DB); Sophomore — Samson Lacroix (TE/DE), Chad Merrill (RB/LB), Adam Merill (WR/DE), Michael Pease (OL/DL), Kyle Tervo (WR/DB), Kody Voisine (OL/DL).Outlook: Doucette, a long-time assistant at Lisbon, moves up Route 9 to take over the Raiders. Anyone who has watched Lisbon closely over the years should recognize the offense,

with lots of motion, shifting, and some option. Asselin, the incumbent, and Morin could split time at QB. Mace and Wells lend speed to a deep and experienced backfield. With nine of their top 10 linemen returning, they have one of the most experienced fronts in the conference.

Vannah, an all-conference selection last year, is a disruptive force on the defensive line.Coach’s comment: “We’re basically going to be an I-formation team and we will throw the ball.”— Coach Stacen Doucette.

Coach: Amy Hediger (sixth year)Last year’s record: 0-13-1Returning players: Seniors — Paige Brousseau (M), Mimi Carmichael (F), Sally Littlefield (D), Ashley Cleaves (M/D), Melora Lavoie (G), Amanda Gibson (M), Zoe Leino (D), Richelle Pratt (D/M); Sophomores — Amanda Dube (F), Ainsley Parent (F), Abbie L'Italien (D/F), Emily Gibson (M), Mary Everett (F/M).Key losses: Felicia Baril, Heidi Chipman, Chelsey King, Kenzie Chase.Promising newcomers: Senior — Gabrielle Farias (F); Junior — Liz Callahan (G); Sophomores — Lilia Conway (M), Kyla Sturtevant (F); Freshman — Carly King (F).Outlook: Eleven seniors have yet to win a varsity level game for the Knights, but Poland believes that experience will help turn things around in the rugged WMC. Eight starters return, including tri-captains Brousseau, Gibson and Lavoie. The Knights will employ a 5-3-2 alignment to take advantage of improved team speed. Sturtevant, a Lewiston transfer, will help the team's transition from defense to offense. Lavoie was a first-team conference all-star in 2011. She will keep most games close, and the Knights expect their heightened scoring punch to

put some notches in that elusive win column.Coach’s comment: “This team has the opportunity to exhibit a tremendous amount of growth. They are all solid athletes. I am excited to see what they can achieve together.”— Coach Amy Hediger.

Coach: Andrew Pelletier (first year)Last year's record: 5-10, lost in Western B preliminaryReturning players: Seniors — Emma-Jane Turton (SK), Sophia Spiller (FB), Paxton Arsenault (FB), Katie Letourneau (MF), Ashley Marchesseault (MF), Deirdre Ball (SL), Keiko Sneed (G), Sarah Mickool (FB); Juniors — Emily Bolduc (SK), Val Ashcroft (SK), Delaney Woodford (MF), Lindsay Theriault (FB); Sophomores — Marissa Zink (MF), Kylie Martin (FB), Haley Whitworth (G), Jessie Quint (FB).

Key losses: Jen Powell (MF), Anna Bolduc (MF), Makayla Dube (F), Tanisha Elston (FB).Promising newcomers: Sophomore — Michaella Arsenault (MF); Freshmen — Sarah Bolduc (MF), Brooke Yorkey (MF), Courtney Cunliffe (MF), Sadie Pelletier (FB).Outlook: The Knights have been a consistent playoff team in recents years and return six starters from last year, including Turton, an all-star scorer. Poland should also have an experienced defense that should help the Knights build on last year.Coach’s comment: “Since this is my first year, there were different team philosophies and tactical strategies than in the past. The leadership of our

captains has helped with this transition along with the freshmen's transition to high school soccer. With the commitment the girls have shown and the

improvements we have made, we should have the ability to contend in every match this season.”— Coach Andrew Pelletier.

Coach: Sean Galipeau-Eldridge (11th year)Last year’s results: Boys — 15th in Western B; Girls — Ninth in Western B.Returning athletes: Boys: Senior — Jeremy Doane, Tyler Hemond, Ian Pickett, Taylor Wood; Sophomores — Chris Lobley, Joe Principe, Jeremy Sampson; Girls: Sophomores — Kristina Smith, Hannah Belanger, Whisper Waite.

Key losses: Jake MacDonald, Connor Pinkham, Amanda Gagnon, Renee Reid, Anna Poirier.Promising newcomers: Boys: Seniors — Dakota Wyne, Robert Emerson; Junior — Coady Lagasse; Freshmen — Robbie Cleaves, Eddie Scott; Girls: Freshman —Norma Williams.Outlook: With the leadership from four-year main-stays Doane, Hemond and Pickett and additions of Wyne and Lagasse, the Knights' rebuilding program should take a big step forward. Doane, Hemond and

Lobley had great summers running, and that mo-mentum may carry over into lower pack times and scores. Smith, the defending WMC champion, is one of the fastest runners in the state. The hope is the dedication of the sophomore class brings out more runners to help the program grow.Coach’s comment: “This team will be built around lowering pack times and advancing its lead runners up into the front.”— Coach Sean Galipeau-Eldridge.

Coach: Ted Tibbetts (second year)Last year’s record: 4-4Returning players: Seniors — Tyler Sturtevant (FB/LB), Tony Whalen (QB/CB), Brandon Drottar (SE/DE), Isaac Stone (T/MLB), Sam Scales (C/DT), Nelson Goyette (G); Juniors — Sam Bridgham (T), Everett Bertrand (slot).Key losses: Christian Hanscomb (RB/DB), Matt Russell (OL/DE), Pat Summers (SE/CB).Promising newcomers: Junior — Jake Simard (G); Sophomore — Adam Mocciala (FS).Outlook: A .500 mark didn't translate into a playoff spot for the Knights because of the Crabtree system, but they did take steps forward in their first season under Tibbetts and in Class C. The hope is that with nine of 11 offensive starters returning, that trend will continue. Whalen directs the triple option with

toughness, while Sturtevant, Tibbetts says, "is the heart and soul of the team" as 155-pound fullback and outside linebacker. If the Knights can cut down on the self-inflicted wounds such as turnovers, they could surprise.Coach’s comment: “We don't need to be great. We need to establish being consistently good.”— Coach Ted Tibbetts.

Coach: Kris Wright (fourth year)Last year's record: 4-10Returning players: Seniors — Nick Allen (FB), Alex Corcoran (F), Tucker Jones (M), Tyler Lafrinea (F), Nate Morin (MF), Cameron Morrell (F), Wyatt Ray (MF), Adam Verreault (G); Juniors — Dan Bernier (FB), Corey Cunliffe (FB), Shawn Mitchell (MF),

Shawn Murphy (FB), Nigel Williams; Sophomores — Cody Kostro (G), Zack Lowe (G).Key losses: Logan Nichols (MF), Trevor Morin (MF), Dillon Douglas (G), Cameron Spiller (FB), Richard Bryant (F).Promising newcomers: Junior — Lukas Johnson (FB); Sophomore — Sean Kruse.Outlook: The Knights took a significant step last year and expect to continue that progress. Poland

scored twice as many goals last year (20) as the year before and allowed significantly fewer (34 compared to 55 two years ago). The Knights are working hard on possessing the ball and learning to control play. Seeing that improvement last year has them optimistic about this fall.Coach’s comment: “We have our sights on a playoff berth this season. We feel as though this goal is not only possible but that it is probable if we keep our focus on controlling those aspects of ourselves and our game that we can control. We have to play smart, work hard and maintain our focus.”— Coach Kris Wright.

Coach: Tim O'Connor (second year)Last year’s record: 0-8Returning players: Seniors — Nick Mills (RB/DE/LB), Will Lyman (FB/LB), Kurt Morgan (G/DT), Zack Hartzell (TE/DE), Jared Vermette (QB/S), Austin Ryerson (slot/CB); Junior — Tyler Cherkis (slot/LB); Sophomores — Ryan Vail (C), David Pilgrim (OL/DL).Key losses: Devin Vail (G/DT), Drew Wilson (WB/

CB), Corey Howard (TE/DE), Dylan Poland (RB/LB), Kenny Haas (C/DT), Dom Haines (QB).Promising newcomers: Freshman — Cameron Pike (RB/SE/CB/LB).Outlook: Starting the season with a roster of 25, the Rebels don't quite have the numbers they had in their inaugural season, but that was to be expected after a winless debut. The important thing is they come into this season more prepared for the speed and execu-tion needed for varsity football, and O'Connor saw evidence in the Rebels' scrimmages that his players have learned from experience. The offensive back-field is battle-tested, with leading rusher Mills and Lyman returning. Vermette also saw plenty of action as the backup QB last year. Morgan was an all-confer-

ence lineman and, along with Vail, will be key to get-ting the inexperienced line to jell.Coach’s comment: “We do have some things that

we’re building on. The kids attitudes are very posi-tive. We just want to keep growing.” — Coach Tim O'Connor.

its run of multiple trips to regional and state finals in recent years, but the Rebels still threw a first-round scare into NYA before falling in overtime. The team remains young and is adjusting to players moving into different spots. Team speed should be a strength. Barter brings experience to the cage.Coach’s comment: “We’re still working on right combinations for positions. If the defense doesn’t jell strong, we could be playing a lot of defense.” — Coach Gail Wight.
