DIGITAL ART AND DESIGN: MRS. TATUM “A” Day● In this course, students are challenged to express ideas

using technology. They explore a wide range of programs, software, and applications to create images, photographs, videos, websites, and more.

● As a part of the class, students work individually as well as collaboratively, while considering their intended audience, mode of expression, and editing skills.

● Students will learn design fundamentals and visual communication skills, digital media applications, digital photography and illustration, graphic design, and digital photography.

● At the end of the course, students will have a final portfolio of their work to take home.

STudio Art: 2D- MRS. TATUM “B” DAy● Do you like to draw, paint, or take

pictures?

● Whatever medium you prefer, this course will teach you the design elements and principles needed to create a work of art and explore your artistic inspirations.

● Students in this course will explore art mediums a wide range of 2D art mediums and create student-directed projects where we think like an artist using the “studio habits of mind.”

Ukulele Choir- Mrs. Nally (a Days)From Pop songs to Folk Songs, the Ukulele is a very versatile instrument. With only 4 strings the ukulele is easy to learn and fun to play. It does not matter if you can read music or not, because ukuleles can be played using chord charts and tabs. If you already have a Ukulele, please bring it to class; if not the school has ukuleles you can play.

Advanced Band- Mrs. Nally (b Days)7th and 8th grade band is our most advanced ensemble. Instruments include flutes, oboes, clarinets, saxophones, bassoons, trumpets, trombones, baritones, tubas and percussion. We play music of many different styles including movie soundtracks and comical pieces. We have 2 formal concerts a year and traveled to Carowinds in Charlotte, NC in past years to compete in Music Showcase Festivals.

Spanish - Mrs. Huffman “A” Days

In this course, students will acquire Spanish developing the four skills of reading, writing, speaking and listening, through games, music, and group and pair work. The curriculum revolves around the most commonly used verbs in Spanish and hinges on storytelling through pictures, videos, music and collaborative story creation as well as on the identities and interests of the students themselves. The main language of instruction in this class is Spanish.

Culture of Spanish Speaking Countries - Mrs. Huffman B Days

There are 21 countries in the world with Spanish as

one of their official languages, and they have many

similarities and differences. Did you know there’s

one Spanish-speaking country in Africa? Have you

ever wondered what chicha morada, a Peruvian drink

made with purple corn, tastes like? Come learn

about these diverse countries and their food,

music, beliefs and celebrations. Throughout this

course, you will also be evaluating your own

culture and beliefs. The main language of

instruction in this class is English.

Music Theater- Mrs. Bachand A DaysDo you love to sing, dance, and act?

Then join Music Theater!

★ In this class students will explore how to use their voices and bodies to express the emotional content of a song or scene.

★ Students will view examples of music theater and learn how to analyze performances and give constructive comments.

★ There will be an emphasis on working together in class rehearsal as well as collaborating to produce a performance

Actor’s Workshop-Mrs. Bachand B DaysIn this course, students will learn all about the components of acting! ★ How to think fast and improvise in a wide

variety of situations★ Develop characters through performing

both monologues and scenes

★ Write, adapt, and develop their own scripts

★ Collaborate to stage scenes and perform in front of an audience

Coding 1 - STEAM - Mr. Brienzi - A Days● In this course, students get started with

visual block coding, then move on to solving text-based coding problems in Python. Students will learn as they progress through coding instruction and coding puzzles, and will progress to build their own projects.

● Students will develop coding skills in at least 2 languages allowing them to create their own programs.

STEAM Dream Team- Mr. Brienzi B Days● This course will help students to develop as stakeholders in Endeavor

Charter School's technology initiative. Students will be involved directly in planning, execution, and day-to-day aspects of a technology program. Student tech teams not only help with resolving device issues, but they also provide an opportunity for students to take on leadership roles in the school, develop a STEAM-based skill set, and collaborate in an innovative learning environment.

● Students will be able to problem solve and resolve technology challenges. They’ll also have the opportunity to develop and use a STEAM-based skill set while collaborating with peer to demonstrate leadership through design of technological applications for younger students.

Creative Writing - Mrs. Tudor A DaysExplore writing as an art and a craft by playing with words and understanding how words create meaning. We will discover the power of word choice, sensory language, figurative language, and structure. Students will learn about famous writers and poets and will also have many opportunities to build their own stories and compose their own poetry.

This is an A Day elective!

ELA ted - Mrs. Tudor B DaysThis is the class to take if you are ready to step up your game in reading skills!

Students will build a stronger foundation in ELA and tackle challenging topics. This class will also help students build strategies to appreciate and feel more confident in their understanding of language and literature.

This is an B Day elective!

Healthy Living- Mrs. White B DaysThis elective will explore the art of healthy living. Students will discover the impact of stress and environment on overall wellness. Students will study basic psychology and understand how the mind and behavior impact health.

Math Matters-Mrs. Southard A DaysIn this class, you will strengthen your mathematical skills by working on projects, using manipulatives, working in small groups and independently to explore topics that tend to trip up students. If you want a boost to gain confidence after a crazy year of learning, this is the course for you.

In this class, we will briefly review Google Classroom and then delve into learning how to effectively use Google Suite Apps to create interesting, graphically appealing documents and presentations.

● Google Doc: how to edit and format a document , including inserting and managing tables, images, and shapes

● Sheets: Focus on basic formulas, formatting, and graphing ● Slides: Creating multimedia presentations that include text,

images, and videos, using a variety of transitions and animations

● Jamboard: Using and creating a digital version of a whiteboard

1920’s and All That Jazz-Mr. Baker-Nicholas A Days

● This class will provide students with an overview of the 1920s in the United States. The 1920’s and All That Jazz course will cover some topics as flappers, Jazz, Harlem Renaissance, and Gangsters.

● Students will be able to create visually appealing documents, projects, and presentations.

World Traveler: Europe-Mr. Baker-Nicholas B Days

● This class will provide students with an overview of the physical geography of Europe. The course will also cover the cultural geography of Europe and regions of Europe.

● Students will be able to increase their knowledge of the European continent in regards to food, language, and other cultural elements.

● This class will provide students with an overview of space including the planets in our system, types of stars, types of galaxies, and exoplanets.

● Students will be able to identify characteristics of different planets, types of stars, and types of galaxies.

● This class will provide students with an overview of forensic science including fingerprint identification, impression evidence, chromatography, blood evidence, and more!

● By the end of this class students will be able to solve a fake crime scene using all the skills learned during the semester.

P.E.P.I.Kindergarten/1st Grade - Mr. Root Both A&B● Designed for students interested in working with K/1.● Students will work together in teams to plan, teach, and

motivate K/1 students to have fun and get physically involved through games and teamwork.

● If you’re looking to be a leader and a positive influence for younger students, this is the class for you!

● This will be offered A or B days.

Health/Fitness - Mr. Burt - B DaysIn this elective, students will understand the importance of fitness, nutrition, and health play in our lives

★ Have you been wanting to get in better shape?

★ Topics include fitness, nutrition, and CPR.

★ Students will be engaged in cardiovascular and strength training activities

★ There will be a strong focus on teamwork and collaboration

Intramural sports - Mr. Burt / Mr. Manfreda A Days★ Learn the art of good sportsmanship through individual and team play while engaging in

physical activities that reduce stress and build personal self-confidence. ★ Explore and learn a variety of sports while building on acquired fundamentals weekly. ★ If you enjoy the satisfaction of learning new skills, working together as a team to reach

a goal and are curious about sports that you may have watched but aren't sure how to play, then lace-up those tennis shoes and LET'S GET MOVING!

Student AssistantYou will have the opportunity to assist a teacher at Endeavor. The work will vary depending on your placement. You may assist with small groups of students, file papers, create bulletin boards or classroom materials, or establish a tutoring relationship with a single student. You must have excellent attendance and citizenship to participate in this class.
