Dear Friends,
It’s harvest season on the North Fork and that means it is the perfect time to visit the
local farm stands, which will be filled with local produce, activities for the children, and
tasty baked goods. Enjoy the famous roasted corn, miles of pumpkin and apple picking,
elaborate corn mazes, and exciting fall festivals. This is also the perfect time to visit one
of over 35+ vineyards for tastings and tours. The vines will be ripe with new grapes for
upcoming wines, making the picturesque views unforgettable.
October is Daniel Gale Cares month and we will be participating in many local charity
drives. We will be sponsoring a month long coat drive for CAST with each office on the
North Fork being a drop off point for all gently used winter coats people want to do-
nate. We will also be cleaning up our local beaches, volunteering at Maureen's Haven
and John’s Place too. Daniel Gale North Fork will also be hosting a cocktail party and
silent auction to raise money to help enhance our local communities.

Janet grew up on the North Shore of Long Island. After receiving her MFA in textile design and a Fubright Hays grant to study weaving in Highland Andes, Janet taught weaving and textile history at The School of The Art Institute of Chicago. She also worked with the costume collection at The Victoria and Albert Museum in London, later as a textile conservator at The Metropolitan Museum of Art and eventually moved to Hong Kong and Mainland China where she designed and manufactured her own line of textiles.
After returning to the States, she and her husband discovered the North Fork. Smitten with Orient Village, they purchased a 19th Cen-tury home on historic Village Lane that included a former barbershop where Janet opened Orient Linen Company. In addition to sell-ing custom linens and vintage textiles, and because she has a nose for beautiful homes, she soon became a go-to source for the local real estate sales and rental market.
Given her foundation in design, passion for local history and architecture, it was a natural progression - to become licensed and one of the North Fork’s top producers. Janet still loves to create and run her shop, not to mention work in the garden She is an active mem-ber of the Orient Yacht Club also sits on the Board of Poquatuck Hall in Orient, an institution close to her home ( across the street) and her heart.
Whether it’s helping to sell a family home, find that perfect summer rental or buy the house of one’s dreams, her interest in people, trained eye, and local knowledge is the key to success.

Linda Larsen McCarthy was raised in Upper Montclair, New Jersey, and has been a lifelong summer resident of Shelter Island. She graduated with a
Bachelor of Science in Health and Physical Education from Rutgers University in 1981, and earned a Master of Arts from Montclair State University in
1983. She spent numerous years in Education as a teacher, coach, and college admissions officer.
In 1989, she married her husband, a United States Marine Corps Officer, and they spent 14 years moving about the country from Hawaii to Virginia.
During this time she cultivated her passion for real estate by exploring the variety of unique housing markets across the country.
When her husband retired from the Marine Corps in 2003, the family, including their two daughters, unanimously agreed that they would finally
fulfill their dream; they moved to Shelter Island. Linda immersed herself in school and community activities, and in 1999, she obtained her real es-
tate license. She now balances her real estate career with her family and volunteering in the community for events such as the annual Lt. Joe
Theinert Spur Ride, and as a board member of the Mashomack Preserve. As a former marathon runner, Linda still finds time to stay active and espe-
cially enjoys kayaking, paddle boarding, and biking with her family along Shelter Island’s scenic waterways and roads.
Capitalizing on a number of things -- the industry’s latest technology, her expertise in all price ranges, and her instinctive knowledge of the Shelter

In 1978, Jill co-founded New York’s Three Lives and Company, still one of the city’s best inde-

Seal gaps and cracks around windows and door with weather-stripping and caulk.
Inspect your rood for damaged sidewalks, driveways, and steps.
Drain and winterize outdoor faucets and irrigation systems.
Clean or replace dirty furnace filters.
Have a professional inspect your heating system.
Check fireplaces for soot or creosote build-up. Better yet, schedule a visit from a
reputable chimney sweep.
Keep the humidifier Humming. Clean the plates or pads to ensure efficient oper-
ation.
Head-off gas problems. If you have a gas-fired room heater, have it inspected by a
pro. Also perform any routine maintenance recommended by the maker.
Wood stoves are making a comeback. To avoid a deadly situation, be sure to in-
spect yours before firing it up.
A home safety check should be an annual ritual in every household. Test smoke
and CO detectors, inspect (or install) fire extinguishers, review fire escape plans,
and rid your home of newspapers and other fire hazards.

Susan is well versed and experienced in selling and listing properties on the East End and considers Shelter Is-land her specialty as she has deep roots in the community.
Ms. Cincotta has been active in Real Estate on the East End since the early 1980's. She began working in the Construction Trade and for Real Estate Trusts as a property manager and general contractor and also built her own home.
