Biography

Through the structure and discipline of a rigorous Architecture program, I will learn to use my creativity to design buildings that are not only beautiful, but useful in society. My life goal is to design and build ranches, work on site development and plot layout while incorporating conservation and preservation of wildlife on the property through management techniques.

I am a Freshman Environmental Design Major at Texas A&M University at College Station. I have a passion for the outdoors and love to spend as much time as I can camping, hiking, hunting or fishing. I plan to graduate from a Masters of Architecture program and recieve my license so that I can design beautiful homes and buildings.

Micro Dwelling

The Micro Dwelling is designed for a single individual to live in the smallest amount of space without sacrificing livability or conveniance. Certain Spaces and how they Relate to each other is one of the major design elements within this project. The basic layout is a Right Triangle with the kitchen at the top left, the bathroom in the top corner, and the bedroom on the lower right. There is a swinging bookcase that acts as a Spacial Separator.

The Micro Dwelling was designed to be most efficient in Noxon, Montana. The terrain is rugged and mountainous. The Large Windows allow for the sun to transfer radiation into the room which creates natural heat during the winter. The roof overhang is at the exact angle to Block Direct Sunlight during the hottest parts of the day in the summer. The wind blows from the southeast, so it is able to Flow through the entire dwelling and naturally cool it.

The Industrial Design utilizes the most of a 4’ x 8’ sheet of Walnut Plywood. I designed a coffee table that has all natural joints. It has two joints that are extremely strong. Teeth Joints hold the legs and base together. The table top is connected to the base by Mortise and Tenon Joints. The combination of these two types of joints create an extremely durable table. The initial design was a square table that eventually morphed into a rectangle. The overexageration of the teeth joints infer Power and Strength. This directly relates to its true strength.

I used part of the leftover wood to build a tissue box. I Engraved my Logo into the lower right side. I mitered the sides of the wood to allow for clean connections.

Behavioral Setting

The Behavioral Setting was designed specifically for a plot of land in College Station, Tx located on a lake side. It was also designed to be compliant to the ADA standards so that a client with a wheelchair can live with out any inconveniances. There are three main words that describe the house in a nutshell. There is a natural Flow of human traffic that guides one through the house. Everywhere there is an action, there has to be an equal and opposite reaction. In this case, the opposite flow is from the Wind off of the lake.

The second major design aspect to this house is the Spacial Relations and how they corrolate to each other. The three main public areas are all very Open. The Kitchen, Dining Room and Living Room do not have walls that separate each one from another. They are each defined by what is in it, and are all connected in an L Shape. The Living Room has huge Nana Walls that open onto the deck to bring the traffic flow of humans outside and allow the airflow in the opposite way.

The third major design factor to this house is the large amounts of windows that allow an abundance of Light into the major living spaces. There are three places where Clear Story windows emerge from the roof and bring light into the middle of the house where a window would not suffice.
