MEDIA DOCUMENTATION FOR THE FAIRY- TALE MOUNTAIN SCENERY - SUMMER 2019 Fairy-tale mountain scenery – summer fun with the raven and the she-devil There are countless things to do in the fairy-tale mountain scenery of Corvatsch and Diavolezza during the summer. Old and young will love it here, and gourmets and sports enthusiasts alike can indulge themselves to the full. Summer on Corvatsch: perpetual ice and gliering lakes In fables, the raven is often thieving and sly. Our Corvatsch steals only one thing: our hearts. The summer sports area which nestles between the lakes in the Engadin valley and the world-famous Bernina massif offers exciting experiences for one and all. One of the hiking highlights on Corvatsch is the Water Trail. Six pretty little alpine lakes adorn the circular walk from the Furtschellas middle station. At Lejin Rhodonit there is a picnic area with two fully equipped barbecue places. The mountain fairy „Mara“ and the elf „Furbaz“ accompany our youn- gest guests along the way. The free „Plitsch und Platsch“ booklet is full of fun and games for children, and tells an exciting story about the walk. Now there is also a somewhat shorter, easier circular walk called „Rabgiusa“, which goes from the Furtschellas middle station directly to the Lejin Malachit lake and joins the Water Trail there. No fewer than five mountain restaurants cater for creature comforts. Nowhere else can you eat as close to heaven as in Graubünden‘s highest restaurant, Restaurant 3303 on Corvatsch. The La Chü- dera restaurant on Furtschellas is something of an insiders‘ secret for gourmets. Thanks to its playg- round and mini petting zoo with goats, rabbits and chickens, it is also popular with families. Another culinary highlight is the Via Gastronomica: you choose your walking route from the Furtschellas middle station, to include fixed stopping points at three restaurants - La Chüdera, the Hotel Sonne Fex and La Passarella - in each of which you enjoy one course of your hikers‘ menu. This arrangement means you can indulge yourself with a clear conscience! Summer on Diavolezza: via ferratas and a jacuzzi at 3000 metres The realm of the beautiful she-devil is sometimes called the „Ballroom of the Alps“. As you gaze all around from Piz Palü to Piz Bernina, you can see that the metaphor is no exaggeration. To stand amid these craggy giants is to experience a truly amazing natural spectacle. If you are fit and sure-footed and have a good head for heights, you can venture on to the «via ferra- ta» on Piz Trovat, a fixed-rope climbing route offering both an easier and a more difficult option. Fairy-tale mountain scenery – summer fun with the raven and the she-devil

There are countless things to do in the fairy-tale mountain scenery of Corvatsch and Diavolezza during the summer. Old and young will love it here, and gourmets and sports enthusiasts alike can indulge themselves to the full.

Summer on Corvatsch: perpetual ice and glittering lakesIn fables, the raven is often thieving and sly.

The mountain fairy „Mara“ and the elf „Furbaz“ accompany our youn-gest guests along the way. The free „Plitsch und Platsch“ booklet is full of fun and games for children, and tells an exciting story about the walk. Now there is also a somewhat shorter, easier circular walk called „Rabgiusa“, which goes from the Furtschellas middle station directly to the Lejin Malachit lake and joins the Water Trail there.

ther highlight is a guided glacier walk from the Diavolezza top station over the mighty ice masses of the Pers and Morteratsch glaciers then down to the RhB railway station in Morteratsch. On the spec-tacular glacier hike, mountain guides will lead you up, secured with crampons and ropes, through the impressive „Cambrena querries“ to Crap Pers at the foot of Piz Palü. Surrounded by the most exten-sive mountain range in the Eastern Alps, you are immersed in the fascinating world of glaciers. To find out more about the dramatic story of Diavolezza, we recommend the Audio Tour Diavolezza. As you go up from the valley station to the top of Diavolezza, a fictitious mountain guide called Flurin tells you interesting tales about the she-devil‘s mountain. At the top station, you can explore the Cairn Garden and the Snow Climb Point. On our viewing platform overlooking the „Ballroom of the Alps“, there is now a SWAROVSKI OPTIK ST Vista telescope available for you to use, free of charge.

If you like to eat your lunch while you are out and about, in just 30 – 40 minutes you can walk from the Berghaus Diavolezza to Europe‘s highest barbecue spot, at 3066 metres – equipped with a picnic hamper and firewood that are available at the restaurant. Spending the night at the Berghaus Diavo-lezza means having the opportunity to enjoy not just a fine evening meal but also a spectacular starry sky – maybe even from the jacuzzi at 3000 metres above sea level.

About the fairy-tale mountain scenery:What a combination! Corvatsch, the big raven. Smart, breathtaking and free as a bird. Diavolezza, the she-devil. Passionate, icy hot and devilishly beautiful, like flames in the snow. And Lagalb, the white lake. Unspoilt, magnificent, perfect for adventures on water and ice. In June 2017, the three moun-tains merged to form the fairy-tale mountain scenery of the Upper Engadin.

The three cable cars are all in the Upper Engadin, located around the famous Bernina massif with the 4049 m high Piz Bernina at its heart – the only 4000 m peak in the Eastern Alps. On the western side of the Piz Bernina towers the mighty Corvatsch, while the gentler Diavolezza and Lagalb – the sports fans‘ favourite – are to the east. The villages of Sils, Silvaplana, St Moritz and Pontresina are part of this fairy-tale mountain scenery, along with the Bernina Pass. The cable cars run for 365 days a year, for seven months in the winter for skiers and then for five months in the summer – offering breathta-king views of the Piz Bernina from different perspectives.
