Dear Parents/ Carers,
ROCKETING AROUND THE SCHOOL WITH MR PITT
2 Namatjira: Last Thursday I visited 2N during literacy time. The children were engaged in activities from a
range of learning centres. Some examples include boggle, using mathematical strategies to solve number
sentences, reflecting about special places and why they are special, independent reading, computer and
reading with Miss Zanatta. It was exciting to see everyone knowing their role in 2N.
5/6 Coffey: Last week I visited 5/6C during group work tasks. Once task was connected to using minecraft tools to
design parts of the Western Sydney Airport. Task two was a research task whereby children selected an issue with a
specific problem and worked together to create a statement for change. I was able to spend a bit of time with each group
to find out more about their research and what they will be designing to support their work. Check out some photos in
this edition of the newsletter.
SCHOOL UNIFORM—WINTER MONTHS
The colder weather has officially arrived. Please note it is important that students continue to wear full
school uniform during this time. It is also a timely reminder that students should not keep layers of
clothing on when in the classroom. In Winter, both girls and boys can wear the school tracksuit to
school. There is now a girl’s t-shirt available and a new version of the sports shirt. For further
information check out the photos in this edition of the newsletter and/or visit the Uniform Shop for
more stock. Our classrooms are heated so students should take their jumper/ jacket off, only to put it
back on when leaving the classroom. Check out the link below.

3-6 SCHOOL ATHLETICS CARNIVAL
This year’s annual School Athletics Carnival is to be held on Thursday 27 June at Makepeace Oval, Fairfield.
The school has subsidised the cost of the bus so children only need to return the permission note. Please
return the note to the office—this is a compulsory school day and all 3-6 children are expected to attend.
END OF SEMESTER ASSEMBLY
All parents and carers are invited to attend our end of semester assemblies. We have two assemblies, K-
2— Wednesday 3 July and 3-6—Tuesday 2 July. Both commence at 9.15am in the school hall. Selected
students from each class will receive an award on the day. Letters will be going home to families whose
child/ren is receiving an award. We hope you can make it to this special occasion, celebrating semester
one achievements.
Have a great fortnight,
Anthony Pitt

Take a break with Mrs Karam!
Each fortnight I visit a ‘break activity’ group.
K– 6 Choir
This year we have a K-6 choir. The choir is led by Miss
Yousif and Mr Ly with the support of Mrs Olivera. The
choir meet every Thursday during break 2. I was
mesmerised when I visited the choir group last week.
The students have started to learn 2 songs and are
showing real talent. The students were all able to listen
well and take feedback from their teachers and they
were able to adjust their voice when singing to
different beats. I can’t wait to see the finished product.
Well done!
Science Club
I really enjoyed visiting Science club last week which is
led by Mr Tran and Miss Ninovic. The students have
been working on creating their own game in ‘Scratch’. I
was very impressed with their coding skills and ability
to quickly create a game. The students experimented
with trial and error techniques to test their code and
were able to continually refine their skills. The students
hope to create a game that can be used by their peers
and have plans to showcase their talents to everyone.
Fantastic effort!

PSSA RESULTS
V
ZONE CROSS COUNTRY
On Thursday the 30th of May, 52 talented students from Fairvale attended the Zone Cross Country at Adams Park, Canley Vale. Despite the windy weather, we had a very rewarding day. It was amazing to see how the Fairvale students and community supported their peers as they competed in their age races. A special mention to the 10 students who have been successful in making it through to the Regional. Thank you to all the parents and teachers who helped celebrate the day. Mr Kinniburgh, Mr Misitano, Mrs Callaway and Miss Volpato—Cross Country Team We can now report that after the overall points table was completed, Fairvale came first! An amazing achievement! Well done to our team.

As parents, homework can be a little
overwhelming, especially seeing how techniques
have changed since going to school yourself.
OSHClub hosts HOMEWORK CLUB, where your
children can get support and help with the
difficult questions, see some of their friends
outside of school and also get to fill their bellies
with some Healthy Afternoon Tea. If you have
any questions, please come by the Hall and talk
to the friendly OSHClub staff.

This week was the last week we could appre-
ciate outdoor play with warm weather. As
we’re zooming into the year, it is freezing
up! We were able to do group games such as
basketball, skipping and tennis. We were
also able to show off some of our dance
moves to everyone, especially to our par-
ents! Now, we can enjoy indoor sport inside
the hall.
Hi my name is Ashley Skye Tatar.
I’m in 4a and I think OSHClub is fun be-
cause we get to play LEGO with my
friends Lina, Tram and Lucas. I also like
to eat Pasta and tomatoes.
As we close on May’s ‘Theme of the
Month’- Space, the children had great
fun creating their very own space art-
work using…. POTATOES!! We love to see
how useful some ingredients are and
how many purposes they serve. In June
our ‘Theme of the month is… ENGLAND!!
To celebrate the Queen

On Tuesday 28th of May, the drama group travelled to Bankstown Sports Club to perform in front of 8
other schools. The Drama group have been working really hard on their performance and were really
excited to have the opportunity to perform in front of an audience.
The message in our drama performance was about being resilient in various situations and have the
confidence in ourselves when trying new things. We feel that we were able to portray this message
to the audience in our performance.
We were really lucky to have Mr Pitt & Mrs Karam come to watch our performance as our special
guests. Everyone performed really well and we are all proud of our hard work.
